Of all the temporary in-game changes Niantic made, I think 90 second cooldown should stay. It makes farming keys faster and, yes, I still use a heck ton of heatsinks to make the process even faster.
If you're going to cancel, you have to do it NOW so they see where the problem lies. You will still keep the benefits for now, until what you paid for expires. If you want to reactivate it again, you can do so without any issues.
I did my part, getting ready to play with 2000 space again for a while.
So I agree with you. Standing still is boring. But I’d like to get a few keys to the portal I just spent an hour hiking to. Before I had to wait 2 minutes for the second key opportunity. And so on… now I have to wait 5 minutes. For each hack.
Please don't increase the portal cooldown back to 5 minutes. It has been nice not having to hang around portals for ages just to hack a few keys. The shorter cooldown was one of the best changes introduced to the game during the pandemic
It's a crappy change. One that I won't like. Will I play less? Yes. (or I will simply drive more (gas prices are going down again!)) Will I give up CORE and my glorious extra 500 item slots? No.
I will add a complaint about it on my review. Then again, my review at been hovering around 2 stars due to the 2 odd years of ongoing lagg as well as other game issues such as getting prompted to login when opening the app.
Brian has previously advised that he does read all of the reviews from the App stores. Maybe that's a way to complain?
Am I saying to review bomb the game online? No. Not at all. I'm saying to add in comments about that change.
Sadly, I don't think we have enough voices, like Pokemon Go did, to get changes reversed. We aren't a Cash Machine like Pogo is.
In our area, the greater Coachella Valley (Palm Springs), I've successfully campaigned to get approximate 35 agents from both factions to drop their subscription.
Well, what else can players do? They are ignored on the forums, they don’t fix the ongoing issues (latency is back in a BIG way).
updates are so minimal I wonder why they are even released. Tentative fixes that don’t work at all, and never to be heard from again.
If you launch the game half of the board is not loaded, they implemented a tentative fix for that too, which never worked; and we have yet to hear about it again. The current issues are running on two years, I mean enough is enough.
Now this, if I’m a paying customer I at least want to be heard, this is craziness, I hope collectively by dropping core, they will finally realize that they’re screwing this game up beyond repair, and decide to do better. (I know, nothing will change, but I can’t do anything else but drop my support for it.)
I am with those who want to keep the faster cool down. In my situation, it speeds up the game allowing wider coverage. But I can deal with the change.
The part I really dislike about this change though is the treatment of opposing team portal hacks being longer cool down. Speaking from the dominant side in my area, it's hurting the team already being overrun.
I say leave the cool down as is, or change it across the board for everyone. Leave the playing field level.
So then, why did you say "get other people" when quite regularly in a game that's losing players it's hard/impossible to get other players, as a way to defend the change?
My following comment is based on my comment from the thread "this is not what we want" because it's relevant to this more official thread
I am almost solely a pedestrian player (sometimes bus or car passenger too) who joined ingress because I wanted exercise. Now I care more about the ingress playing than the exercise but still somewhat care about the exercise. This change is just going to slow me down and force me to cover less distance than I would cover under the 90 second universal cooldown. It's going to make waiting for a key if I don't get one the first time unfeasible if I'm for example walking to a work client.
90 seconds cooldown is (hopefully not soon to be 'was') good. I can hack the same portal multiple times as a pedestrian and safely stick around to do so. My local opponent who plays while driving can only hack a portal once, maybe twice in bad traffic. 300 seconds (if it comes into force) will give advantage to the driving player because they will simply be able to travel faster than me and hack way more than me. What I like about 90 seconds was it gave pedestrian players an advantage over vehicle based players.
I'd like to know which "various sources" that have been consulted - was anyone in this forum polled for example? My rough count of this thread is that 90-95% of ingress players prefer 90 seconds and 5-10% are fine with or even approve the increase to 5 minutes.
Dude, your comments never have substance in them. It's always do this, do that, no actual thought to them. Can you please expand on the thoughts of the different hack item beyond "well, it should be done like this" - it's really frustrating
we can debate day and night about this, in the end its niantics game and they chose to do this change, everyone should just adapt to it since we are in minority compared to pogo they should have changed this last year and everyone would have forgotten about this and moved on. your quotes to just say its frustrating are frustrating itself while it doesnt add anything to the discussion
I'd it's the smaller game, rhen they should have no problem listening to their fan base and going with qol changes that suit while not going too far. This is clearly, from every form of media that talks about it, a bad move. It shouldn't be "we should adapt to this bad move" it should be "this is a bad move and we should let them know so they can fix it". Niantic seems to be the only company thays determined to ignore its player base to this extent to its own detriment. Other mobile games don't do this bad, I look at pokemon masters, that listened to their player base and improved the game based on what was good, such as adding skip functions as the game was far too grindy (that will probably be censored), whilst also repaying its players for bugs (half the time without the players even knowing the bug existed), compare that to niantic with even ingress

Another option:
90s cooldown if you do a “complex” pre-glyph.

that is not getting us anywhere, there will always be situations where someone cant go for obvious reasons
I would say the situation of not enough agents is the rule rather than the exception, in most places and most of the time.
Another benefit of the 90 second cooldown was I could work a full-time job, hack the keys I need AND be home on time for dinner :)
Lol did someone actually cancel core because of this?
Tbh key management will be much easier. I frack 50 keys only need 20 or so but can't get rid of the extra keys because I used a fracker hahaha
Our view point is so myopic I wonder what the data says.
I'm surprised that so many adults behave like children over such a change.
"KEEP 90s OR I CANCEL CORE >:("
Grow up, seriously. Or go back to PoGo with the actual children

only 2000 space!!!!! could never go back to that. This is such a tiny change.
You are throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Not much, but hopefully NIA will take the hint.

Who cares what other people do. It's childish to attack what people want to do because they're not agreeing with your opinions.
I disagree with 5 minute cooldown; It makes the game slower/less fun.
Having a shorter cooldown for friendly portals discriminates against the minority faction.

I did
I don't mind the change so much, but Enl and Res portals should be equal cooldown.
So make them your faction's portals.
:’)
you do realize there is no dislike button, right? I know reading is hard.
i dont defend, i mean its not end of world and if want hack faster use mods or hack with more agents afterall its not 5min if hacking your own faction

That's a shame.
For me the 90 second being returned to 5 mins is more a perception than true trouble.
My preferred play style is complex micro fielding operations requiring high volumes of keys to portals.
The bottle neck is always the inventory cap not the cool down.
