Better distance tracking
Is there any plan to implement a better tracking system? I dont even want it to be like pogo where it tracks while shut as that wouldnt suit as well, but at least have it track properly when the game is open and be able to track me when I'm cycling, I've tried and I cant even go above about 10km/hr before it stops tracking me and even when it does track me a 2.5km walk is lucky to actually give 1km does to how it works (straight line). Its very disheartening putting in so much effort and not being rewarded for it. I k know people say you can recharge while walking ti let it track a bit better, but work around shouldnt be the answer, the answer should be to get a better system

You need to interact with the server for it to track you. Unlike Pogo, Ingress tracks you based on your actions. Thus, keeping your scanner open and not doing anything doesn't work. You need to recharge, or drop an item, pick an item up from the ground, attack, hack, deploy, upgrade, etc.
These days, with 65 AP per recharge, I do a lot of recharging on long walks, to level up and reach my second black trekker. But looking forward to the day when I can walk with hands free.
it should track like every 200m instead regardless if u just walk or do portal actions... but we need adventure sync also hope it comes soon.
We need Adventure Sync!
Why? Ingress is not a fitness tracker. Only the distance during active gameplay should count. With adventure sync, it would be much less challenging for new agents to get the medals.
I don't mean tracking in the background.
But it sometimes does not make sense: say the portal is a few kilometers away and you really walk there but got zero distance counted because you didn't interacted with something in that empty place.
I'd agree to have kind of Adventure Sync working when Ingress is running in a foreground only. Still better than current approach
those rurals have it hard if no portal interaction means no trekker ticks.... so adventure sync would help or if it counts every 200m or so..
Yes, that would be nice if the distance counts while ingress is in the foreground. It feels a bit silly to recharge a reso or drop an item every 200 meters, just to force the server interaction.
I'm happy with the distance tracking in Ingress. I wouldn't say it has developed a lot since earlier days but it is not at frustrating at the same time. I walk about 6km a day as a part of my exercise and keep the game open with small interaction like portal hack, recharge or blow a low level xmp and I end up with 4-5km trekker distance. And for Adventure sync in Ingress? No I'm not a fan of it. Why? Because as we known from Pogo, it's easy to exploit this feature.
In my personal experience, this is incorrect. If you're full on XM and not doing anything, say, walking across town, ingress open, but not interacting, my KMs do not move. But, if I recharge, hack, etc, my trekker medal will increase. Again, just what I've gathered, though, only L14 and about 400km into my trekker medal.
"I walk about 6km a day... end up with 4-5km trekker distance" And you're happy with that? You're only getting credit for 60-80% of the distance... I'd say that's a pretty big failure in the tracking feature.
