I like the pulse, too, but I wish the XM on the ground were more visible between pulses. It would make XM collection more like it was in the old app (an enjoyable part of game play) and not clutter up the interface.
I LOVE that the fields respond to the pulse with their own echo. Huge improvement, and allows the fields to layer without losing sight of the streets and objects on the ground. Well done!!!
What I think needs to happen is that certain graphic elements of the game we should have control over how detailed they are, much the way desktop applications can, say, video games, tone down the graphics for slower GPUs or people with issues with vertigo or epilepsy.
The pulse for me is fine, but my personal concern is the blurring of graphics in the distance. I like a wide field of view, and blurring everything toward the edges of my phone doesn't help me, especially when linking. I already have vision problems as it is, so, I'd like to keep things as sharp as possible.
I dislike the pulse a lot. I would like to see an option to turn off the pulse as well as make the graphics be static, because you can't make everyone happy. All the movement disturbs me and makes me feel a bit ill.
It should be optional, like many other eyecandy things that add nothing to actual gameplay. Problem is, graphics designers hate options. They want total control, to be things the same for everyone.
Please, please, please make it optional. My wife (who also plays) suffers from a migraine-related condition which responds really badly to the pulse to the point where Prime in its current state is an instant headache and dizziness machine. As things stand we're both out of the game when Redacted goes because she simply cannot use it for anything that involves looking at the main display (and Ingress is something we enjoy together so that'll be the fun gone for me as well), and having to walk away from the game and the lovely local community over something like that would not be cool.
It's an issue when playing in the dark (kills night vision), it's an issue for people with certain medical conditions... And it has no discernable gain for the game... So, please make it optional or remove it, even.
Would still really like a "turn off the reflection/refraction effect in the fields" option, but the effect is a hell of a lot less offensive in 2.29.2. Thank you!
The pulse effect in 2.29.2 is much better than previous versions, but it still amplifies any minor headache that I might have into a massive headache after just a few minutes. Please give us the option to disable visual effects, such as the pulsing and the large volume of photos in Comms.
The cleaner the graphics are the less headaches I get.
For me at least, the pulse (both the flash on the ground and the in-field effects) are now fine for me.
However ...
My wife struggles with the flash on the ground and the odd motion aspect of the in-field effects. Consequently, she ends up playing with her screen brightness turned down to the point where she can barely see fields. In its current state, Prime's killing Ingress for her at the moment as a result of this. Please, please, please Mr. Niantic ... please can you make the pulse (so the flash on the ground and the in-field effects) optional?

I like the pulse. Removing it would be a massive big mistake
Other UI elements are being fixed

It certainly makes sense for there to be a set of hi/lo graphics settings for the user to choose from. One would be animations (including the pulse).

Not removing it but adding the possibility to disable it in option would be nice
Something of a plea regarding the pulse here ...

I cant stand the pulse :/ xm is already so hard too see.. and the pulse thing is just annoying!! please make a disable button for it!
I've seen a local player describe it as "literally life-threatening" for her to use Prime because of the pulse/flashes.
I like the pulse effect but yes there should be an option to remove it
Indeed, please make the pulse optional in the settings

To update this one ...
