Portals moved to the wrong places

If you have access to the portals, report them all. If you can identify who is doing it, report the agent/trainer.

This happen because abuse of title/description edits asking "please move to x to help the community"... Location edits should not be reviewed together with any kind of 'hint'.

@NianticCasey @NianticKN what do you think?

  • mortuusmortuus ✭✭✭✭✭

That is just insane, how is so many portals possible even move so close each others ??

  • iBotPeachesiBotPeaches ✭✭✭

Can you attach a new portal link? The one you gave in initial post is just the redirect login url (hint - don't leak that "code" param)

Curious to see if these align perfectly on a x/y coord or just a human moving them nefariously.

  • the location of these portals is indaial, santa Catarina SC the coordinates are

    -26.8937167, -49.2303874

    -26.8941550, -49.2326586

Nuke em in pogo and salt the earth so no more can pop up in this area.

  • Bom dia.

    http://www.ficindaial.com.br/fundacao/

  • Ridiculous me, this does not go with the rules of the game and a poketop for the cell and not 10 poketop for the cell and I already reported it to NIA And they will check the area and have several poketop msm together in the same cell they will remove

  • It's simple. POGO VS Ingress. Each pulling from/to their own sides.

  • jontebulajontebula ✭✭✭✭✭

More bad for Ingress now when lots of players in Pokémon GO fake move to get gyms and stop. I hope @NianticBrian can do something and better warning and block edit if players in both Ingress Prime and Pokémon GO fake edit and move and get 3 warning for abuse Niantic forever block edit in both Ingress Prime and Pokémon GO if we use same e-mail.

  • HosetteHosette ✭✭✭✭✭

    I concur about moving.

While they're at it they should change the way that gyms are selected, or increase the level requirement for voting on portal photos. Too many PoGo players create multiple Ingress accounts and use them to upvote photos just before a new stop goes live so that it is chosen to become a gym. This can become an impediment when the top photo is garbage and legit players are trying to get it replaced with something better, and it also doesn't make sense for players to be able to manipulate the system this easily.

Possible alternate selection strategies: Random, most interactions in the last 30 days, reverse sort starting with the Nth character of the GUID where N is selected randomly each time, farthest from an existing gym,

  • HydracyanHydracyan ✭✭✭✭✭

First Niantic need to drop the thumb/like data imported from ingress and make new gyms be randomly selected, given priority based on location and type of the structure selected during POi review.

Second is to periodically refresh the s17 cells, so if there is two or more inside it, only one will became active and the others vanish.

  • Hi folks,

Firstly, thanks for surfacing this. We saw this through other channels and have reviewed and take the according action both with regard to the locations as well as the users at fault.

Please remember that the best place to submit nominations for Wayfarer abuse is this form. Additionally, appeals should be directed to the Wayfarer forum, as we're no longer monitoring or replying to those requests here.

    Thanks!

    He is doing it again:

    -26.8917494,-49.2406409

Creating one by one and them managing to edit them out of the real place. As you can see, every picture is withing 20m, only one (two at best) could fit this location.

  • quirischaquirischa ✭✭✭✭

The system with editing the location, of course, needs to be redone completely. It becomes a field of war against the couch portals of agents from another fraction (in Ingress), and by the method of creating pokestops "move to the next cell so a stop appears, and then we will return it back" (in PoGo). The system of creating new portals, which are created in the wrong place so as not to fall within 20m from the nearest POI, is also affected. All these systems are extremely difficult to bring in the correct view. If I see a cluster of portals - the right portals in the wrong place - I won’t even waste time. Run around the area, look for the right places, move, then write appeals on the WF forum - nobody cares.

  • this is being ****, Niantic needs to remove Permanent edit poketop and gym from pokémon Go before that never happened

  • WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?!

  • Pogo tools? This must be the wrong forum for you. Try your local pet shop for questions about your animals.

  • Simple solution: Moving a portal to a location where it is too close to other portals, results in the portal being removed. It can then be submitted back in the real location as a non-duplicate.

That sounds like it could be misused. Want to deny your rival their strategic portal? Not only can you move it away, but you can make it dissapear!

  • HydracyanHydracyan ✭✭✭✭✭

If he is using a portal that do not exists or is in incorrect location: yes.

And people already do that in the wrong way with this intention.

  • GoblinGranateGoblinGranate ✭✭✭✭✭

Man, that would just increase the problem, have you already forgot those who just try to remove the portal?

Again, if portal does not exist, report for its removal and if it is missplaced, correct its location, but removing the portal just because you managed to place it too close to another one is not a solution at all!

  • Pokestops & Gyms shouldn't be discussed here. Go to your veterinarian for help.

  • Portal removal goes through Niantic. So a move that would make a choice between two portals, goes to Niantic, and they choose which to remove. At the same time, they can confirm the move is legitimate, and if not, take action against the malicious actors.

This situation is being far more abused by PoGo players, than removals are being abused by Ingress players.

  • GoblinGranateGoblinGranate ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm sorry but the abuse was there before PoGO and even when Niantic review a portal removal before its removal, they still have a strong tendency to fail when removal conditions are not obvious (assuming they didn't automate the process in any way).

I believe that is not a solution because we would go back to the previous problem: Niantic reviewing things.
