Scanning is not dependent on my camera app setting. (I tried. I even tried with a mural and kept my phone completely still and it still manged to get 180mb) It uses it's own camera "app" and it's own setting. Plus all the higher end phone(which you have to use coz ARCore, And all of those phones have good camera.. so there's goes my idea of using a low tier camera phone)
I wish they do something about this. Avg. 230mb/scan is too much.
You don't have to let the scan run for the whole duration before uploading. Say if you walk all the way around the object then hit the stop button when the round timer is halfway full, you can upload that scan and it will be much smaller.... like in the 40-70 MB range.
Even if you stay in the same spot, the timer still continues and your device is recording multiple frames with almost identical data.
ok.. But when i upload that, will it count as 1 full scan? If yes, then why should/would anybody take the trouble of scanning for the full period...? Just go half way and it counts. Anyway, i'll test your suggestion. Thnx.
@SouLPrison3r from what I've tested, it does count as a full scan for the badge. There is a minimum number of frames that must be recorded though... I think it's about 12 or 15. Try to stop too soon, and the stop button won't work.
Think they raised the minimum frames, did a bunch of 40 frame scans today and got credit for none of them ( was working yesterday)
So if I load 1 full scan with 200 frames, it takes like 10 min to upload on wifi, if I do 3 full scans, it takes over an hour, and while uploading, my wifi internet at home is completely blogged down and can't do anything else
They upload veeeeerrryyyy slllloooowwwwllyyyy with no progress bar. If you get a failure message, then it just means one upload failed but others before it likely succeeded. Tap the button again and it'll restart from that scan.
For example, if I have 30 scans to upload, it might fail after 13 are successfully uploaded. I still get credit for those 13, and I can still upload #14-30 whenever I want without losing any points (ideally).
Uploaded a full 200 frame scan today, didn't give me any credit, think it broke on my phone, or theres some invisible cap on the stat, zero feedback so no idea
I have the scout medal, until I hear about it being fixed, think I'm done with it
Is the Scout badge increasing in number for anybody else?
Mine has completely stopped increasing, I have done heaps of uploads over WiFi and mobile networks, and Niantic Support suggested trying on another device, and the issue still persists. I'm wondering if it's just me, or if anybody else is experiencing this :(
Stopping at level 12 for a while is potentially just a pause in a gradual roll-out to everyone.
My guess is that whatever they are doing with these is likely to need to be trained on a big data set before rolling out to everyone, I expect level 12 agents are currently giving them that dataset.
It might also be that they don't want bad data from people in lockdown who are close enough to portals to press the button, but not close enough to do a decent scan.
It might even just be on pause because this isn't something they can work from home on.
That makes sense, I’m hoping it releases to level 10’s soon though because I’m nearly there and it bothers me that there’s a badge locked that I can’t complete.
The count is increasing for me but I have found that sometimes the app needs to be restarted after the uploads for it to refresh properly. I have lost 9 uploads towards my tally so far but that seems to be about it for now. Still annoyed at not having a perfectly rounded number.
Did a few scans today. (around 15) Nothing counted... -_- I feel like NIA did this on purpose to discourage people from going out to scan? I mean why else aren't they fixing it? Already been a week.
ik. But seriously how understaffed is Ingress DEV's team? They cannot fix bugs on time and they're been doing server maintenance for over a month now. What does that mean for us? I wish they would speak more about this.
I had 5 uploads not counted on Monday (May 4th) despite showing "Upload Successful" message. I was using v2.45.1 on iOS. I upgraded to v2.46.1 just now on iOS and tried on a portal and it seems to be working again. The count seems to take about a minute or two to update on your Scout badge final tally but it does come through. So far I have lost 14 uploads in total due to something on Niantic's end.
I think once every agent has updated to v2.46.1 the lost numbers will be pushed out together rather than agent by agent basis, which is understandable given it would be more work to do it one single agent at a time.

Maybe changing câmera settings might help with that?

Hmmm. If this works, it's gonna be really helpful.
To be improved
Can't upload portal scan......just endless loading or a message of failure

I dont know what agents talking about. I get credits or to medals for all Portal Scanning i uppload on wifi.

My last 20 scans have not been counted in last 2 days
It's a reported bug by many agents.
So I assume this feature will only be for level 12 agents? Thought it would have been for level 10 agents as well because of the seer badge.

@VicusSapphires How can I do?
I don't know
Use manual in scanner

The mission creator has been broken for about a year now.

Not work, again🙈
I did not get my older version scans. And now i feel too demoted to bother scanning more. GG NIA
