Hospitals and POIs in Hospital Buildings or on Hospital Grounds
What's your question? *
The old Candidate Action Guide said we should reject hospitals. Are there any candidates that can be eligible in hospitals or on hospital grounds? I have seen large pieces of indoor artwork in areas that are nowhere near the emergency entrance of the hospital and feel they should be eligible because there are in areas in a hospital that are actually dedicated to public space like reception areas and lobbies. Some hospitals have cafeterias, gift shops, chapels and even auditoriums where the public is invited to learn about health topics. Having wayspots in these areas makes sense to me if they can pass the other questions required to be an eligible wayspot.

Translation of Candidate Action Guide (I can't find an English version any more): Hospital
Recommended Evaluation: ★ Reject
if the candidate is located inside or inside the hospital facility, or if it blocks emergency services or access to the hospital facility. Accept hospital gardens that are not on the emergency vehicle route. (https://ingress.lycaeum.net/2017/07/20170707-025828.html)
It appears that areas on the grounds that are not obstructing emergency driveways can contain eligible nominations based on the statement about ineligible wayspots on Wayfarer. I cannot find any more recent guidance on the subject

This is a general question not tied to a specific location
I'll get on it monday, busy weekend this weekend. I would suggest asking about the first page of criteria to eliminate any doubt as well. Even the veterans hospitals.
First of all take out the part about emergency entrance that will instantly get niantic say reject and we know the answer already.
I'm seriously shocked in how petty people are being on this subject just accept as a one off job done. If a sick kid can play a game even for a short time in hospital I say 5* and would rate accordingly if i ever get something of this type.
All being taken far far to seriously if you ask me.
Nominations whose real-world location appears to obstruct the driveways of emergency services
This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers.
A playground inside a hospital does not interfere with operations. (If it did, it would be very poorly placed.)
I appreciate the lively and mostly respectful discussion here. Thanks for keeping positive discourse in mind.
With regard to hospitals:
Eligible: gardens (including healing gardens) if they are a unique feature that would facilitate gathering and that is not in a restricted area.
Ineligible: the front door to the hospital / main lobby / waiting room / etc. if it would interfere with operation of emergency services, especially emergency service vehicles.
As I've mentioned in the past, AMAs and OPR provided guidance does still hold true unless a more recent clarification has nullified or updated the guideline. Just because OPR got a facelift and a new name doesn't mean that we're throwing out all the history and clarification that came before. Anything you notice that is currently invalid you can report via the Scanner.
Please keep in mind that I'm happy to address specific questions here, but if you need general clarifications or see trends that you want to surface, the form is where we're looking to populate the clarifications that will be posted to the Wayfarer Help Center.
Looks like the Candidate Action Guide guidance stands and if it is inside the building, it is ineligible unless you can sell that it doesn't interfere with emergencyservices. Unfortunate, but I am sure they have their reasons.
Hold up @NianticCasey that doesnt really answer the question here sorry.
If the poi is on the roof that doesn't mean it can not be accessed. Unless you guys have made pokemon go and ingess 3D and the poi can only be accessed on that level it can still be potentially accessed safely and without entering restricted areas or even entering the hospital. As you have previously stated I mural can be on the side of a building not at street level and can still be approved.
if it would interfere with operation of emergency services, especially emergency service vehicles. The word there is IF. It did you just miss that out.
As I say it's so sad that you all have to ask such a question about a hospital portal for sick kids I know how I will be rating such portals.
Anywhere inside a hospital might interfere with it's services. Random people walking in and parking in patients slots just for a raid or a Pikachu or an unique portal capture. Hospitals are not playground. Portals there are just invites for trespassing.
But, you know. Niantic will probably never speak clearly about it being valid to avoid issues. So just submit it. You're gonna have a hard time having it approved and when it finally happens it will probably be reported and removed really fast. 🤷🏼♀️
Casey made a clarification and yet posts are still contradicting what he said.
"Emergency services" means something very specific, and hospital complexes offer more than just emergency care. Ambulance entrances, ER/ICU, patient dropoff... those areas could interfere with emergency operations. However, hospitals offer far more non-emergency services such as outpatient care, cancer centers, and labs.
I seriously doubt that Casey would literally post "with regard to hospitals: Eligible: gardens" if we were supposed to reject everything on a hospital grounds.
Effects operations not just emergency services. Anywhere in a hospital is a no. Outside yes as long as it's not the entrance. Was pretty clear on the topic.

Medical gardens needs an update above. ;)
I have submitted a question through the form

We have had a good discussion about this on the Ingress Forum: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/9715/portal-childrens-hospital-playground/p1 adn would really like further clarification.
I'll get on it monday, busy weekend this weekend. I would suggest asking about the first page of criteria to eliminate any doubt as well. Even the veterans hospitals.
I don't expect they'll give any eligible/ineligible guidance beyond what they have given, but you should ask if it's not clear for you.
Need as many as we can get with the same question types to get answered.
I meant your other post.
First of all take out the part about emergency entrance that will instantly get niantic say reject and we know the answer already.

I don't disagree. I would like to see more things in hospitals, but the last guidance on it practically says reject everything.
Last guidance is:
Nominations whose real-world location appears to obstruct the driveways of emergency services
This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers.
A playground inside a hospital does not interfere with operations. (If it did, it would be very poorly placed.)
Last guidance on playgrounds includes children centers as a rejection. From January 2020. All criteria in wayfarer is on page 1.
See the first comment on page 2. A children's hospital is not a children's center.
Different countries consider different things.
I would like a link to anything that says a children's center might refer to a hospital.
Just google any children's medical center. Long list across the world.
I guess we could use clarification. Does children's medical center fall under children's center. Interesting.
But 5-20 people parking nearby and entering the hospital's facilities will certainly interfere.
People will trespass.
Hi folks,
I appreciate the lively and mostly respectful discussion here. Thanks for keeping positive discourse in mind.

It's part of the hospital and a rejection. Only outside.
Casey basically said that everything that you canot see or reach without entering the hospital lot area isn't allowed.
No not at all you read your own meaning into it and Casey has contradicted previous posts about access.

Reaching for the stars? Any where patients are seen and staying is a rejection in the hospital.
Millions of other acceptable businesses with indoor art submissions allowed. Do them instead.

Hospitals since day one have always been a rejection.
