Emergency medical services (EMS), also known as ambulance services or paramedic services, are emergency services which treat illnesses and injuries that require an urgent medical response, providing out-of-hospital treatment and transport to definitive care.
Not the entire hospital. Just where the ambulances drive. No ambulance is going to be late because people are using their phone in this playground.
I can't find a reference that a children's hospital falls under children's centre.
The validity of this wayspot depends on who is watching the children in the playground. The parents or the hospital staff.
A clarification on hospitals should be asked in wayfarer but I don't think Nianticcasey would answer this one.
But can you answer this? Are patients given the chance to be seen in all of the hospital. If there is different floors assume one floor plan for all conditions. If patients are seen in all of the hospital floor plan than that is affecting operations with having a Wayspot in the hospital which is rejection to me. Outside grounds are typically done for the entire property for things. If it's near an entrance or right in a entrance for the hospital then that's blocking EMS the entrance in a way and should be rejected.
@JSteve0 healing gardens are not in wayfarer. That is one item that never got introduced in wayfarer. So no criteria currently exists to accept.
He wasn't saying the healing gardens themselves are eligible. He was saying he expects there will be things that are eligible inside them.
Just clarifying because prior to wayfarer it was an acceptable submission and there is plenty of old players on here. Now it is not because it is not in wayfarer.
Niantic purposely removed it which was strictly at hospitals and gave me a reason to believe hospitals were allowed previously.
Emergency patients are seen in specific areas of the hospital. Some entrances readily accept visitors and volunteers. There are reception and waiting areas that are not intended for emergency doctor patient interactions. Some entrances are not intended for the acceptance of emergency patients. Emergency entrances are marked so that the public only goes there when there's an emergency.
There are often cafeterias, gift shops, chapels and in the case of this hospital, auditoriums where the public comes to receive education about health related topics. So, yes indeed there are entrances and areas in hospitals that are not for emergency operations and can be accessed without interfering with emergency operations. There are also areas outside of the normal footprint of doctor patient interactions altogether.
IF Niantic did not want any portals in hospitals, they would have said so like they have done with schools, daycares and adult-oriented businesses. Instead, they have chosen to say that a portal that obstructs an emergency driveway is ineligible. Edit: According the old candidate action guide, they want hospitals and anything on or inside the hospital building rejected.
Hospitals may not be the ideal location to have a cluster of pokemon go gyms, but to simply reject because a portal is located in a hospital without evaluating the portal nomination for its other characteristics and its specific location is irresponsible.
Edit: While I think these areas could be eligible, the candidate action guide leaves no doubt that the hospital and anything on or inside the hospital building should be rejected.
There is no specific criterion to reject them either. So it is up to us as sober and responsible reviewers to determine if the garden has a cool story, or if it has cultural, historical, or artistic merit. We also have to determine if frequenting the area would encumber emergency services.
You might get along with this guy below, he likes healing gardens too!
Oh found more about healing gardens, you might like this one too:
Hope these help!
You know y'all, there's an actual and official spot where you can ask questions, where they will ostensibly be answered by Niantic. Most of the January update came from here, didn't it?
Pinging poor Casey all the time doesn't get you anywhere, usually.
It's more fun to make 5 pages of pointless arguing though.
Actually read them thanks to you accusing me of being 3 people banned prior. I believe you are the reason they are gone and not in wayfarer. So people with submissions at hospitals can thank you for losing hospitals.
Hospitals aren't currently banned areas, they're not lost. Wayapots are only ineligibile if they block the emergencies services of hospitals. I've had a hospital near me get a tone of new wayspots the past few months.
Please don't spread rumors about Hospitals being lost areas, they are still very valid areas for wayspots according to the guidelines.
Explain how they are then.
As it is written in the guidelines, wayspots are safe if they do not block the emergency services of hospitals. Please read the guidelines.....
Sorry, could you point me to where I ever accused you of being 3 people banned prior? I do not want to be off topic here but I wanted to clear the air as I am not sure what you are talking about. I have never once made the accusation.
He shared the guidelines already on the first page. Multiple criteria sections are reference from wayfarer. Children centers are a clear rejection which qualifies Hospitals as a rejection.
I want to make sure I am understanding you here.
All hospitals are ineligible because some may have child care centers? Please correct me if I am not understanding your message.
Not hard to read what was written on the first page. Very easily broken down and current criteria from wayfarer is posted.
Lets look at hospitals as a whole.
"Obstruct the Driveways of emergency services"
As long as the waypoint is not causing problems impeding the access to and form the emergency service it should not be rejected for that purpose. With that being said a Waypoint at a Hospital as long as it meets other criteria could be acceptable. I would advocate that wayfinders be extra diligent when reviewing as to not accidentally obstruct emergency services but that does not mean anything and everything at a Hospital should be rejected.
This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers.
"This includes anywhere that may interfere with the operations" that means the entire hospital. If patients are seen in the entire hospital, than it affects operations in the entire hospital.
Question for you. Would me sitting in the lobby of a hospital claiming a portal, spinning a stop interfere with the operations of the hospital?
See question above that no one has answered. Would you care to respond?
@AgentB0ss Personally I am pro hospitals. But I am also confused by hospitals. Dice is the one who pointed out the information not me. I am actually trying to enjoy this conversation so i know what to do.
Wayfarer does not spell out everything that is acceptable in that much detail. In cases where there isn't a specific rule, it is up to our judgement to determine if the proposed POI is a location with a cool story, or has a place in history or has educational value or is a cool piece of art or unique architecture or is a hidden gem or hyper-local spot. They have given us examples, but they have not gotten into the minute details of reject all of these and accept all of those in most cases. That is why they have given us a 5* scale instead of asking yes or no on their review questions.
Hospitals and hospital grounds have never been classified as acceptable or unacceptable, pre-Wayfarer or post-Wayfarer. Edit: The old Candidate Action Guide did state that Hospitals and anything on or inside the building should be rejected. end edit Healing gardens have never been called out specifically either. But the area that may impede emergency ingress and egress at a hospital has been deemed ineligible.
Additionally, @NianticCasey has confirmed that guidance from AMAs and other official resources like the FAQ and Candidate Action Guide are still good if they haven't been superseded by something published in Wayfarer.
Thanks for reminding us.
It's better to ask on here and there. Most commonly asked questions. Having asked in both it has a better chance of being put in wayfarer.
Oof, open mouth, insert foot. The old candidate action guide did say that the policy should be to reject Hospitals and points inside of them. It said to accept a garden that did not impede emergency operations.
I owe @Dice976jr an apology. You have been right on this one. Even though I disagree with Niantic for the reasons I outlined, I will review according to their policy. If the nomination is the building or anything inside of it, I will reject. If the nomination is outside of the building, I will only accept if the candidate is eligible on its own and is not in the path of emergency vehicles.
Found a copy of the old Candidate Action Guide and the policy stated actually was to reject the hospital and anything on or inside the building. I haven't seen any more recent guidance on the subject.
Neither have I. We have a lot of good topics to get clarified from this. If you get questions together I will also submit the questions on the form as well. Just post on here the list.
