Regardless, this is a discussion about items in the store, not a refrain on the upcoming Subscription that we have no details on, so lets please not let Jonas get us off topic too far.

Please see this thread for further discussion on the Ingress Subscription: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/7647/ingress-subscription

  • If I wasn't 'sat' on 70 vrmh, 70 vrhs, 60 mixed ito, 50 sbla, 100 mixed ada/jarvis, and 70 axa. I'd have spave to hold more than 300U8 and 300X8 I can't use because the local frogs are laxy:-)

    Inventory will always be full.

  • I'd happily buy extra blocks of space in the Store, like you can in PoGo.

Though I only count 1020 items in that list above 😁 You might need to buy some key lockers.

I missed out all the cubes, res and 'c.r.a.p' mods.

Plus about 250 keys on top of 6 key lockers full.

But if the limit was 5000 there'd still be no space.

  • But if the limit was 5000 there'd still be no space.

Oh sure, but you'd be able to do more between farming periods. 😀 More play time, less travel time.

  • For consumable items there are 2 Options

    1. It gives you a real advantage aka P2W then people will buy it a lot (see frackers)

    2. It is only a visual or doesn't change anything then people will only buy it rarly (see beacons)

Nobody will spend a lot money If they don't get anything from it.

The inventory extension won't work because there are a lot people have secondary Accounts which circumvents the need to buy it.

  • Would very happily pay to rent more inventory space (ie. pay a sub) as long as it was sensibly priced.

Speaking of capsules, I would totally pay for a media capsule so I can store and access all media without it counting towards my inventory total.

We've been posting things for years now. It's up to someone to execute it...agents will only wait around for so long...

add more cosmetic stuff that doesnt give unfair to those that buy.. like change color of action circle, more avatars etc.... media capsules.. more character badges etc... but seems nothing new in store now?

  • I refuse to cheat, so I'd buy extra inventory space - would make a massive difference to gameplay, and make me way more active. Same goes for the majority on both sides round here.

  • Selling level 8 items is taking away the incitament to build high level portals in my opinion. Its built into the game to succeed you need to cooperate and work together this is the beauty of Ingress. Play another game if you want to play alone and buy success.

  • Put a fee on glyph hacking. 1 CMU per glyph hack. That will make a revenue stream.

  • That has nothing to do with the topic of this thread. can you stay on topic for once?

i'm not real sure how you figure, but let's assume you're right. That's only going to be the case in an area that has enough players that high level portals can be built. Unfortunately, this game is global, and that means there are far more areas where only a couple, or maybe even only one, player exists. It's impossible in those areas to get enough players to show up and build high level portals than can then be farmed. So those people never have the chance to get high level gear. And, quite frankly, just because something is available in the store, that doesn't mean people are going to buy it. The ones that WANT to make farm portals are going to do that even if something is for sale in the store, and the ones that would rather buy from the store, wouldn't be helping create a farm portal or farming it. But they WOULD be helping Ingress pay for it's operating costs by being able to buy Level 8 resonators from the store.

Selling R8s wouldn't have that effect, especially in Rural areas where the R8s they buy would be used to build up P8 portals. You can only use one per portal, and bootstrapping a P8 when you don't have any R8s is near impossible. So selling R8s in the store would actually make more P8s, because people would be more liberal with deploying them, since they know that if they run out, they can get more.

I completely agree, when it comes to buying X8s and U8s however.

Niantic hands out so much L8 gear that I'm surprised that anyone actually needs to buy any from the in-game store. So selling it shouldn't be a problem except for those who will go "Harrumph! Pay to Win!" to anything that players would find useful.

  • Those are all 1 off purchases that take a level of development/artwork to implement. To be sustaining, there needs to be elements you buy repeatedly, or things that go into a subscription.

  • I'd pay for a 'Fridge Capsule' - The capsule that its content would not count towards item limit... Item removed from this capsule need to thaw/defrost before being able to be used, let say 2 hours.

  • For myself, increased inventory space is a must-have and something I'd be willing to pay for so I can finally have some breathing room in my inventory. I tend to collect keys and media to the detriment having any room for other items, even with 5 keylockers.

My idea for something worthy of purchase or subscription would be enhanced searching and filtering of portal keys, and reworking the existing keylocker storage system with something that's expandable:

    - replace the individual keylockers with a single storage container that can be expanded in size (incremental 100-key upgrade purchases or subscription)

    - enhanced key storage would have the same limitations as keylockers, meaning those keys do not count against inventory space but are not available for linking, remote interaction, etc.

    - provide ability to create named groups or meta-tagging keys for quick filtering and easy add/remove from key storage: e.g. 'portal recharging', 'BAF', 'Farm', etc.

    - text search/filtering of keys

    - key filtering: portals owned by Enl/Res, unclaimed portals, distance ranges, fully resonated, etc.

    - additional key ordering choices: e.g. distance, name, key count, etc.

    - indexed key inventory scrollbar by ordering type: A-Z, 5km/10km/etc.

Aside from keys, what about having some sort of free storage mechanism for media as well? In the last year there's been a huge increase of media drops which is starting to bite into my limited inventory space.

Likely because they never ported over the Go code that allows a player to have buffs. But it shouldn't be that hard to do. It really depends on whether it's a server issue or not I guess, since the servers are still the old ones I think.

It is probably worth realising that key lockers almost certainly exist to reduce server load every time you try to make a link.

Without them every key you hold (within the linking range) has to be checked. I think the old client actually sent requests to check each key you held - I remember the speed up when the client rejected keys it knew were behind a local link.

I've didn't play when you had to select the key from all your keys.

  • Yeah, the fact that keylockers don't check all those links is definitely an intended speed improvement, since the common case is all your longest links are in there. I haven't actually seen an example of the 'yellow border' in Prime yet, but I imagine since the servers haven't changed, it has to exist somewhere.

More keylockers would probably help some people, but still, its a singular purchase. Once you've bought it, you don't need to again.

  • "I haven't actually seen an example of the 'yellow border' in Prime yet, but I imagine since the servers haven't changed, it has to exist somewhere."

Can confirm, it still exists in Prime.

  • Specifically regarding this sentiment:

"The inventory extension won't work because there are a lot people have secondary Accounts which circumvents the need to buy it."

I disagree... Most people generally want to obey the rules. Example: When the iTunes Music Store launched, it was a game changer. The volume of illicitly traded copyrighted music (Napster etc.) went wayyy down just because the market had finally delivered an easy and legal way to give the people what they wanted at a reasonable cost. Not everyone gave up on their freeloading (and law-breaking) ways, but most did. Additionally, the store gained a ton of new customers who had never downloaded anything illegally as well.

Similarly, inventory extensions of some sort, enabled via subscription, will not **** off all the backpack accounts. But it will make a lot of backpackers realize that there's a better way to go (especially if ease of use is prioritized). Some will continue to break the rules until/unless they get caught. But it will also open up the option of expanded storage to LOTS of agents who want it but never had it previously because they choose to play by the rules.

  • Buy a skin that makes neutral portals visible

  • Keep your camera at 60 degrees off horizontal, and they show up fine. 😁 I wish they'd provide that as a maximum

  • Well if it would actually zoom instead of just changing angle of view that's be good too.

Maybe they could get rid of the "haze" effect that pops up as soon as the view goes to horizontal

No haze yet. Neutral portals still visible.

Neutral portals grayed out to nearly nothing
