Swapped colors and got it to look like the example Wikipedia has, but still having trouble producing a result. I used vayvgr on previous challenges, but it doesn't help, I watched a video on decoding manually and the errorcheck lines on each side are there and match.
If you do it correctly, it should be a very easy scan. I'd recommend double checking that your input is correct ... you should end with a 21x21 2D code in the middle. The outer 3 rows and columns (top, bottom, left, right) should be almost all white cells, with a few black "noise" cells around the outer boundary that doesn't interfere with a scanner.
Results is not updated... Is there a problem @NianticOfficial?
Initial colour is very important as they are not treated the same way.
Yes, I replotted the initial one inversed and nothing that can be scanned, although more interesting shapes - cartoon chat bubble almost. Not sure why I can't get anything to read it. Any hints as to the name of the one that works?
The camera on my Galaxy S8 read it without the aid of any app.
Found the error, off by 1 pixel, thanks everyone, good challenge.
All the scanners I have disliked the grid that was on mine after processing - it finally scanned but I did clean up the "extra" bits and the grid lines for my own record after getting the media. Interesting puzzle this time, I'd like to know how the coder determined the "before" positions - Well, probably not, really :-)
Part of me wants to say this is the exact problem I'm having.
But there's a little voice in my head raising doubts; surely the answer can't be found in just one generation?
How do you remove images out of drafts
Color reversed the image, looks a whole lot more like a QR Code but no scanner is picking it up. Do I need to photoshop out the gridline?
Hi - there are some excellent hints that will help you get the next steps. The grid you have is just a new-born baby and needs to grow and evolve a little to reach its true potential in life :D !!!
I can't scan it either.
@NPElolli you need to process the image before the scanning part.
Sometimes life just feels like a big con...way too hard!
the result of the scan depends highly on the camera hardware and the error tolerance of the software.
a high resolution cam may 'see' too many faults (i.e. grid lines).
one can move further away from the screen or shake the phone just a bit to 'hide' the disturbing parts of the image.
Got it, thanks to all the hints especially @Lasloo, brillant text!
I'm stuck here, too. I have no any ideas about processing.😫
What is con...way?
Life is what you make of it. 😊
I don't say this is a puzzle because it doesn't tell me how to solve this.
For example, jigsaw puzzle is a puzzle that combine the pieces and finally it will be a picture.
To paraphrase the movie I, Robot: "I'm sorry, @lifegreen, my responses are limited. You must ask the right questions."
It's not a QR Code at this state. Have you tried to make it grow into one?
Thanks for the color swap though.
I've taken out all the grid lines...colouring each cell of the processed graphic into a spreadsheet. It doesn't have the typical square pattern in the corners that a qr code does. Does this mean I did it wrong and I need to start over?
Done! I must say the hint in the background text is very obscure if you haven't heard of what it's referring to. Thank you for the hints that pointed me in the right direction, especially @F9b.
@F9b meant it as a subtle hint...
Especially when born in 1970
Finally got it! The hint is super obvious when you find the right method to solve it. It took a while to get there but it makes perfect sense. Cool challenge this week and good luck to everyone!
There is a hint in the background to a needed step you must complete first.
Finally!!! thanks for all the hints!
Yeah moving farther away from the screen worked I didn't think about why though
I know nothing about processing images in a way to realign them into a QR Code. Everyone is saying that the background text is important, so I read it multiple times but still don't understand what it's trying to tell me.
Don't forget that this challenge is a game after all.
Enjoyed this one so much I tried it manually ... correct but scanning app didn’t like the mess even after erasing 😢
