They should care, because the POI database is their most valuable asset. It's the one thing that no other company can claim to have an equivalent of, not even Google themselves. Diluting the quality with bad approvals, and bad rejections, or edits that make the database less accurate for the sake of shoving another pokestop into the right cell, are not how they maintain the value of their most valuable asset.
Oh, I don't disagree there. But that requires the valid wayspots to be submitted in the first place. I've found more commonly that the 'new breed' of submitters keep submitting the bad stuff, even when there's good stuff right beside it. They have a limited number of submissions and don't understand what's good and what's bad.
Leave the thread and scroll down the page to where it says Categories, Discussion, etc. There will be an option for Drafts and you can delete it from there
Take a look for yourself only thing approved was whataburger and subway but it is a part of a installation of statues it is a part of a series of custom cabooses to go with the towns heritage and motto.
No, it explains it fully. People don't understand the criteria, but understand that they can't approve everything.
Also, people keep saying "My submission was rejected for BS" and then when you actually see their submission, you decide you would have rejected it too.
Does not explain it fully (or at all in fact). If they knew they had to reject some things then they would be rejecting your rocks and mailboxes and not valid heritage markers.
BS reasons like "couldn't locate it" when it's visible in streetview and "no safe pedestrian access" when ok there's no pavement, but it's a dead end, single width lane on the edge of a village where it's normal / necessary / perfectly safe to walk in the roadway and where there is a grass verge to step on to if a vehicle happens to come along.
The only people who care are Ingress uber elitists, but what would you expect from a group who have been bent over and smashed silly by Niantic over the years. It's Stockholm Syndrome with you fellas.
The company doesn't care. When will you learn that the corporations don't give a damn about you unless you are making them cash? And in this case, Pokemon Go makes them the cash Ingress will never do.
So your solution is to make the company worth less? PoGo is better because of those "uber elitists", and until you realize that, you will continue to damage your own game by trivializing the POI database.
The first 6 million Pokestops were submitted by Ingress Agents prior to PoGo going live. And the game's choice of POIs is a large part of what made is great straight out of the box. You may think you want procedurally generated stops every 40m, but look how well Jurassic World went.
So it was better than it might have been at the start because of Ingress players. It wasn't good enough though, and left to Ingress players (and not PoGo players with Ingress accounts) it never would have been. I remember having to do laps of my village trying to get enough revives and potions to get into the gyms, because there was only five stops and three gyms. One of the neighbouring villages (similar size) had one stop and one gym until late 2018.
Umm no sorry. What made and still makes the game great has little to do with the waypoint database. I have never had a single person tell me "let me show you this cool pokestop" or "There are some great points of interest over there". What sparked interest and still does is the community and social aspects. The real world tie in to points of interest is cute and I will use it when I travel to find my way around a foreign city. But it's not the waypoints I want to see there. It's the other people playing the game. Ingress doesn't have that. In fact when I was playing Ingress I wanted to avoid every other agent as much as possible. People say "Let me showw you my collection" or "Let's trade". In fact Niantic has done nothing since GO's release to encourage anyone to be concerned about waypoints. If I send a gift to a friend from the Eiffel tower they don't get to keep the postcard. If I have more than 1000 gyms in my game they begin to be removed. I don't get the option to keep a coveted key and remotely visit the location.
So no. The waypoint database was not a big factor in the games success. It was a factor, but a tiny one. In fact some of the biggest complaints about the game from people were about the waypoints and people having to go onto private property or military bases just to play. I haven't seen any news stories complaining about the size of anyone's pokemon collection but I've seen plenty complaining about where waypoints are.
Just because you don’t get anything from the Wayspot database doesn’t mean other don’t.
i keep a lot of Souvenir keys or grab a lot of PoGO/HPWU gifts to send to friends of cool Wayspots. And I use the app a lot when traveling to find stuff like trails, cool straunts, art I can take pics of, etc. It makes it feel so cool that this video game is tied into the real world, it gives it an energy that no other AR game has captured for me. There are plenty of video games you can play that don’t have POI data bases that still have social aspects. Play those if you don’t care for POI.
And I'm sorry you did not have a good experience with your local Ingress community, but I very much had a positive experience with mine. Everyone was very happy to show me the ropes of how to play, give me some extra items and capsules when I was low, give me anchor keys and help me make large feilds to help level up my badges. First Saturdays, Missions Days, and other Ingress events were some of the most fun I've had playing Niantic games, and I didn't even start playing ingress until a little over two year ago.

You should really play Jurassic World then... you'll love it.
I'm sorry you weren't up to the challenge of finding interesting places that qualified. I went to beaches, parks and trails that I hadn't been to in many months and in one case never this weekend. I nominated some stuff there. I've seen people play there before. I don't think I will be taking much advantage of it myself because dogs aren't allowed there expect in the winter but in the good weather I expect other people to enjoy it. Sometimes you just need to embrace exploration and helping others.

You would be surprised by the number of valid wayspots you can find in a small rural town.
Oh, I don't disagree there. But that requires the valid wayspots to be submitted in the first place. Edit: dangit, I hate not being able to delete quotes... Or at least I haven't figured out how.
I think you mean indoor playground, cairn, and post office, all legitimate Wayspots.
Well, maybe not the McDonald's playground. Man I miss being able to submit those.

If that was the case then valid candidates would not be getting rejected for bs reasons, which is still happening.

Oh, Texas doesn't count, because they put those black signs on everything to make it easy 🤣

If you dislike Ingress so much and think Niantic treats it poorly, why are you playing it and caring about it so much on these forums?

Wait, are the Ingress Agents the elitists or are the Uber drivers elitist? I just want to make sure you get dunked on properly.
Ingress players are elitists for using uber over lyft.
"PoGo is better because of those uber elitists"
How's that?
So it was Uber drivers and not Ingress players?

They weren't my words, hence the quote marks.
Dang, I'm never going to figure out this Uber thing. Why did taxis have to be so bad?
