As you all know, December 30th is Andrew’s very last day as Ingress Global Community Manager. We would like to ask you to light up Beacons for him, on his last day at work.

From all of your Vanguards around the globe, we want to extend our most heartfelt thanks for the work that you have done for this game and its community. We believe we can all agree that your tenure as GCM has ushered in the Golden Age of Ingress. With all your work and the player initiatives you created, you gave us a voice, stood by us and fought for us. Ingress is better because of your positive influence.
It has been an absolute honour working with you in the Vanguard program. Words can't really express our gratitude for the trust you afforded us. We hope to continue your legacy and help grow what you've created here. You are much loved and highly respected, and your presence will be sorely missed.
We wish you nothing but the best in your future Andrew.
For those about to hack, we salute you!
Words can’t adequately express the contribution and impact that you’ve had on the Ingress landscape over the past few years, but I’ll try anyway. Having seen firsthand how much you’ve sacrificed personally with your time, energy, sweat (and tears?) and even giving up precious moments with your family/kids, going “all in” for Ingress and the community was always an inspiration through the ups and downs of community sentiment, during my time as part of the Vanguard program.
With your departure, there will be some sizable shoes to fill in the community, and I do hope you’ll still be in touch or watching from the sidelines on how things progress as I believe your heart and passion for the game and community still burns bright.
Here’s wishing you and your family some well deserved quality time together, and godspeed on your next chapter in life! If you’re ever popping by Asia again, don’t forget to say hi!
Til we meet again someday,
Andrew, it's been my pleasure to have worked with you in the Vanguard program. All the best!
BEGIN - MESSAGE
Thank you Andrew! Thank you for all of the love, care, blood, sweat, and tears you’ve poured into the Ingress community throughout the years. Looking back, I still remember the first time we crossed paths in Gettysburg Pennsylvania during the Interitus anomaly finale at a small post event dinner gathering of Agents. Ingress to me has always been about its community, and even in those early days before you had taken on the role of GCM you were out there at events experiencing and sharing with the community all that Ingress had to offer. I’m not the best at goodbyes so let’s instead look at this as a new beginning. We all know you are leaving one big beard to fill at the Niantic offices or perhaps one gigantic communal red solo cup. Regardless we wish you all the best on this next step in your journey! Our lives as Agents were impacted by your care for Ingress and that won’t soon™️ be forgotten.
END - SIGNAL - PURSUE - DESTINY - UNBOUNDED
with your last day at Niantic an era is ending and I never saw that coming. Ingress without you as Community Manager was something I never imagined. In the last years you stood always by the side of the players and us vanguards. You had an open ear for us no matter if game or life related. Words can not describe how big your impact was in the game and how sad I am to see you leave niantic.
You are leaving footsteps that never can be filled. And I can only hope that the new CM will be as passionate as you were for this game.
I wish you all the best for your future and your new adventures. In Berlin will be always a cold beer waiting for you.
I was never good with Goodbye, but you are worth taking the time to say goodbye. As a new agent my first contact with you was through the Ingress Update channel discuss channel. I must admit that I was impressed by your spirit, dedication and your passion for ingress. Also mostly by your tough skin in the face of adversity. You will be missed and continuing without you will be difficult, but I will do my best to continue to build on that spirit that you have shared with us, and continue building on those strong foundation you left us. I hope that I will have the chance to meet you one day.
Until that day, godspeed Andrew !
I have been stuck for hours figuring out what to say that does justice to your work over the past 4 years. But I think it comes down to feeling honoured and humbled to have had the privlege of working with you on so many things that have positively impacted the game. You have done so much to move this game forward; the difference in community engagement from pre-2015 and your tenture is significant and has had a significant impact on so many players. Your leaving is a great loss for Ingress and we will miss you dearly.
A wise person once said “Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.”
Andrew, in every way, shape and form I can think of, you have worked to make sure that belonging to the Ingress community was something that mattered. For many of us it has become such a part of our life that even if we choose to leave, we will never forget it. For me, it has reinvigorated a sense of adventure and wonder that I had forgotten about. Belonging to this community has changed me in ways I could never have expected. For your role in encouraging that, I will always be in your debt.
I hope the new challenges that are entering your life will be as exciting, inspiring, and life changing as the ones you have facilitated for us, your Ingress community. Go forth and conquer!
again....I am flabbergasted...also happy to have meeting you a couple of times and had some good laughs about various things. Wishing you the best of luck..... still playing the movie.....in mind.... watching you walk on clogs..we have learned a lot from you Andrew !!!! always in our harts..not goodbye...but see you later ;-)
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for the game of Ingress. Thank you for the long nights, the road trips, the flights that you’ve taken to be present with agents in our global “struggle.” Before becoming a Vanguard, we hadn’t crossed paths with each other, but through the stories of other agents that had been on site with you, I was able to form this image of you as a comforting interface of Niantic. Where most of the changes that happened in Ingress were sudden, unexplained, and anxiety-inducing, you provided a human presence whose words filtered through our local communities, through social media or as anomaly attendees returned to deliver the good word of Andrew 3:16. The good words were a salve to the battered psyches of committed agents waiting for the next boot to drop. The AMAs provided sustenance in an information desert, allowing us to dare to dream that our dire circumstances might change, as we faced the deprecation of our redacted client and awaited our Prime future.
Upon becoming a Vanguard, and interacting with you for the first time, the high esteem everyone held you in was confirmed. You were someone who understood agents and worked really hard to improve the game we all love. After spending a few days together and really seeing with my own eyes and finding out what you have to deal with, you basically became a titan in my view.
I know that wherever you end up next, they will have gained the titan that our community is losing. I hope that your local community is lucky enough to still have you as an agent when you have the time, and I hope that we can toast it up next time we’re in the same metro.
Goodbye Andrew and thanks by all your help during this years.
Some of your AMA were tolerable pre-Prime.
Afterwards, I have no idea how you concocted such garbage support of the flagship product like you did - that took some guts.
Thank goodness you're jumping ship early, I hope you find better opportunities soon!
Ps. You'll always be the one that got away.
Andrew Krug is a name totally related to INGRESS.
There is nothing that will separate the past history from the future. The name is a part of the game history and represent all the players in the community.
One Beacon for Andrew is a small taken of appreciation for all that he worked for a game that we love.

Andrew! Are you leaving?
So, go then.
We can sunk this ship alone!
It's difficult to put into words how I feel today. You have truly exemplified the spirit of Ingress in many many ways. You understand the game and the community on a deeper level than any of your colleagues, and have advocated for the benefit of the players with fierce integrity. The game has changed but your commitment to us never did, and for that I am deeply grateful. Thank you for putting that target on my back and letting me help. It's been a wild ride.
Andrew, we need to talk about the Resistance agents and the Future of Ingress event!
I'll become the Vanguard program in the first place! But, now, we have a Ingress family reunion and my journey, hope, goals, missions, destiny and dream is to about the most powerful being in the universe and secret agents!
And what I'm say is we miss you so much, cause you're the best blue team agents that we ever have! And we'll always be with you, and we love you so much!
And we walked you at all!
I'm usually good with words, but this time I just can't find the right ones. Perhaps because there isn't such thing. Even though we only crossed paths twice and we actually spoke just once I'm very sad to see you go. You were pretty amazing and you were always incredibly engaged with the whole ingress community.
I'm really going to miss your answers, your posts, your pics when meeting agents. I still remember the first time we met, you said you recognised my face because I had been posting my journey to camp Navarro. I felt so honoured that you were actually paying attention!! That made me feel that you really cared about agents experiences and their own way to live the game.
I'm sure whatever you do next you'll do great. You'll take with you a lot of good feelings and to s of people sending you good vibes from all over the world. And, although I'm sad that you leave, I'm also happy that you are beginning a new journey!
We'll miss you!!
Lots of Love,
Fair winds and calm seas.. @Icom4u said that...peace and puppies
Andrew! This is @hongmiidorii
I may not have met you in person, but still it was such a great experience working with you as Vanguard.
Thank you for your constant devotion to ingress community. The warm heart, constructive ideas, and dedication that you showed could never be replaced. I promise we will do our best to keep what you left behind.
I want to make these four years longer if I could, but I also want to bless your next journey.
Good luck, friend!
Hope to meet you in person someday.
Fair Winds and Following Sea 🌅
Truly a sad day for the community, as I’ve said, you’ve taught us so many things and we really couldn’t ask for more. You have shown us what true objectivity really means. Words are not enough to attest to your courage and strength of character to keep our community running with passion and we’ll always be grateful for your generosity and understanding. You once said that we should not let anyone affect us despite their many criticisms because we will never be able to take back our actions against them once we let them get to us.
I salute you, hats off and I lay my scanner for you Mr. Andrew Krug as an ode to all the wonderful years I’ve spent with you as an agent, and as one of your vanguards. Thank you Andrew.
Thank you for everything Andrew, this feels worse than losing an anomaly even.
I haven't met you in person, but I have seen how dedicated you are to making ingress better.
I wish you luck & hope u could visit Maldives sometime soon, I still got a lot to learn from you
Thank you for being the leader of all us vanguard's and all the whole ingress community.
Goodbye Andrew and thanks by all your help during this years.

Thank you so much Andrew, I will miss you for leaving Niantic.
Thank you, Agent @RedSoloCup for everything you done for Ingress and community. This may your last day working as GCM. We will miss you. Hope the path you chosen will be the best. #BeaconsForAndrew

@RedSoloCup farewell, don't let those pesky Shapers and N'Zeer bite.
Hope you will come back again one day
I’ve not met you in person yet (I guess being in the same room doesn’t count if there are thousands of agents in that ‘room’), but even as a ‘normal’ agent I’ve always appreciated your commitment, dedication, and passion for the community and the (more than a) game. You took on an incredibly hard job and you went through with it in spite of all the ignorance and disrespect you faced. Without you, the world of Ingress, our world, wouldn’t be the same today, if at all.
Starting to work with you as a Vanguard only reinforced that impression. Continuing without you will be difficult, but we’ll do our best to preserve and grow what you have built, and to keep your spirit around. I hope you will stay with us as an agent, and we’ll have a chance to meet one day out there on the battlefield. I hear Munich is nice in May ;-)
And last but not least: Thank you!
