Level 40 is too low of a bar for reviewing. I have a suggestion.
It's fairly easy for a pogo player to reach level 40. It can be reached by having a large number of 'friend interactions', purchased lucky eggs, and raiding in large groups or even small groups lately. Citation with numbers: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/91okoi/a_brand_new_player_can_hit_level_40_in_3_months/
Having interacted with many players and seeing the quality of submissions, it's not clear to me that most are aware of what a good waystop is and it's more of a means to an end to them (pokeballs, other rewards). Some are confused because they see older portals that wouldn't qualify under the new guidelines (like neighborhood entrance signs). I have yet to see a community form to encourage players on submissions and instead it's been about jamming the S2 cells to make more gyms.
I simply suggest that the pogo players should be qualified based on the unique stops that they visit. 1) it's a badge on their profile (although mine says that I visited ~38000 stops and in ingress I reached 16000 unique visits, that badge must be all 'stop visits'). 2) it would emphasize exploration outside of their area.
Anyway, thanks for listening and good luck in 2020.

Its harder to reach level 40 than it is to reach level 12. I know thats a very hard pill to swalow but it is the absolute truth.
Because of Niantic's censoring, I am forced to assume this pill is a suppository.
Edit: Aw man, too late to make my joke.
It is true that it takes more effort to reach level 40 in PoGo than it does to reach level 12 in Ingress. That said, reaching L40 in PoGo is far more fun while reaching L12 in Ingress is a massive chore.
You can get to level 40 with only one stop, and an internet connection, you can't get to level 12 with only one portal.
Depending on events you can level up in Ingress very quickly but it is a lot of effort and interaction, especially the badges.
You don't really have to grind to level up in Pokemon anymore.
I got level 12 in 3 months and basically quit playing PoGo more than using my go plus to do it. This was all within my usual line of travel too. Yay for working out of the office.
It’s harder and takes longer to get to Level 40 in PoGO than level 12 in Ingress.
However, the number of PoGO 40s outnumber Ingress 10s/12s by a factor of thousands. And it’s very unlikely a statistically significant number of PoGO players are just going to grind in Ingress just for edits. Niantic also historically has been very bad at scaling. If there was a much higher bar to limit PoGO players at first so there wasn’t such a flood (like with submitting and reviewing) it would do a lot to assuage the concerns we have.
An Agent can get to level 12 in 3 months too....
If you raise the bar too high, all it does is return people to levelling in Ingress before disappearing completely.
Maybe for you.
I got a Gotcha because people want me to level up, and I can't find it anything but a repetitive bore.
*If they have portals.
Compare apples with apples. If you're starting in a low portal density area then pogo is easier.
Which is the point. Any attempt to claim that X is easier than Y is pointless because it doesn't justify why X should be denied reviewer status. 3 months is possible in both games, and thus it doesn't matter which one you're talking about.
Platinum or black opr medal level should be the edition requirement.
You can legit get a L40 in Pokemon GO in a single day, WITHOUT even using a single friend bonus (and the raids + friend bonuses make it even easier for a casual player)
L40 in GO is about the equivalent of L5 in Ingress
I am baffled by some of the comments being made in this thread saying GO L40 is harder!!! You guys have either never played the game or do not understand the game mechanics
Are you seriously openly admitting to violating the TOS on Niantics own forums?
Red Warning I am sure will be on the way if Agent name is linked to GO account
I dont think it matters what the lvl is there will always be bad submissions from some pokemon players just as there always was in ingress. Give it time and they will get bored and it will lvl out. But I would like to see more levels added into pokemon go not for reviewing just to make more of a challenge in the game.
Is a Gotcha even something they monitor? It's basically a Go Plus on autopilot. I use the latter because I don't want to risk a violation, but I'm not sure a Gotcha actually would be one.
Anyone who uses IITC violates the TOS even though Niantic themselves have been caught using it.
Technically, yes as part of the T & C's is that you wont use any unauthorised software to play their games and Gotcha has a massive disclaimer on their site saying its unauthorized.
Practically, will they do anything about it, who knows, highly unlikely given they could have killed it by now the same way they did with Pokemon go+ , HPWU+ etc but theres always the possibility in the future they could
Any other extra wishes? You know that many players don't or can't do any of the fast leveling stuff because they simply don't have any people or just a hand full of POIs nearby? Also not everyone can travel to high density environments every day or week.
It took myself 14 months to reach Lv 40 with playing daily and this is already fast for someone who is in a low density environment. I got friends playing for more than 2 years which are just in the mid-30 range. They simply can't level faster and don't wanna spend a many hrs a day playing. Also not spending money on it.
So yeah, you maybe remind yourself of the playing behaviour of such who don't have time for it 24/7 and don't live in the middle of high desity areas...
I think its super hard to monitor (even something like spoofing is pretty hard to catch as the massive numbers of abusers shows)
But posting in a public group that you are engaging in something questionable is pretty silly since even if Nia was giving the player benefit of doubt they basically confessed to it
