Wayspot edits introduced to Pokemon GO, including Location Edits.

The tweet says it's only title and description, but in-game it allows pogo players to edit locations.
There doesn't seem to be any obvious limit to the number of edits one can submit.
It's really starting to seem Niantic just does not put any thought or care into the POI database anymore. Pokemon GO players know that moving Wayspots to different cells can make new Pokestops/Gyms appear. And they added this anyways.

It's sad when certain people care more about the integrity of a companies database than the company themselves
The location edit guidelines are just...sigh. "avoid" should be "do not"
"We prefer" "whenever possible"
We really care more than they do.
There's also been no AMA since Pokemon Go player gained access to Wayfarer, and most of our concerns on here are being ignored.
I understand ingress team probably had no say in these features being added, but it's still just very short sighted by Niantic to push location edits through when they limit the number of POIs in pokemon go BASED on location. Especially when they started to limit edits for Ingress Players because of abuse.
I think it's a good thing niantic can see there is a need for pogo players to be able to use the full system. They know that ingress is not as popular as it once was and pogo is forever growing now. Think we will all benefit from it.
They should limit the number of location edits more for both Ingress and Pogo. They should pull it out of Wayfarer and just have staff review it.
They wont spend the money on staff to review it and there is a limit on the number of edits.
I'm only talking about the location ones which have obvious abuse issues and they already have staff review new photos.
It will only take up more of there time I'd rather have them work on new features in all games than paying staff to review more.
I just want the poi's where they're suppose to be and I want to be able to interact with them properly. All those pictures of moved pokestops look like someone who plays manually like me wouldn't be able to but the go+ users would. Ingress has that feature where it shows both options if they're close together and you can select the one you want. Great feature in crowd areas. I have trouble selecting things a lot.
See I'd rather have them work on that than pay niantic staff to review edits. Makes more sense to me.
Even with that option in Ingress, it's still very frustrating when the portals are on top of eachother. I wouldn't want it to be like that in PoGo either. Already hard enough with spawn clusters.
The limit on submissions is about 60 in Ingress I think, per 14 days.
As for thought and care, they need the PoGo reviewers because Ingress is fading. What they're failing at is ensuring that as they onboard people, those people are held to the standard that Ingress players hold naturally. It's a different mindset, and Ingress players aren't necessarily better at it in many cases (some reviewers are horrible) but the difference is that most understand why it matters, instead of just wanting MOAR.
Isn't edits limited to 28 edits with the 13 day cooldown timer? Where is the 60 coming from?
I just opened up the Edit Title on a portal and it says "54 title edits remaining, more available in 13 day(s)." This is tied with description too. (I have submitted some recently)
However, I see where you only get 28 location edits.
How close to a Portal do you have to be to edit it's title/description? I couldn't access title/description edits when I checked location edits.
I guess you have to be in range or close to in range.
Title is somewhere between 76 and 138kms (using my keys).
Location is less than that. At 76, I could edit everything but the location.
Caring about the database: it's a database of game assets and nothing else.
In just a few hours, they turned it off "Trainers, due to overwhelming response, we are disabling PokéStop and Gym contributions to avoid stability issues." What "overwhelming response"? Half the world was asleep, and it was live for like three hours?
Half the world was awake and submitting edits.
Niantic should really add an abuse option near each edit choice.
And limit the location edit to 50m around original position. There is no reason to move a portal further - 50m being roughly half of a soccer field to move it away from centre, I can't see larger poi than stadium.
And 5000 agreements as requirement for edition.
Most of the worst reviewers are the ones with onyx recon badge.
Cranky cause your portals are getting rejected, aren't ya?
No, the overwhelming majority of things I have submitted have been accepted. Some have taken more than one try, but my annoyance is out of all proportion with my acceptance rate.
In my experience it's the so called experts that are coming up with bs extra restrictions and then propagating them on forums (sometimes forums they administrate).
The Facebook group with Pokemon admins are all making up their own rules and restrictions too. The power tripping isn't restricted to the old players and they're propagating it to the larger community.
Yep I totally agree seen this first hand.
There really is no reason to have edits available at all
99% of edits I see are obvious moving a portal so a GO player can add a new portal or promote a new gym
Its funny I submit 3 (obvious) edits, all 3 get rejected, and all 3 posted here as approvals and mods do the edit manually
The playerbase does not care at all about actual integrity of database they just want to get more Pokemon
Of course edits are needed, sometimes portals are in bad location, especially because Scanner Redacted's submission location defaulted to the place you pressed your finger on. In Prime location drifts a lot.
Both Ingress and Pogo players have motivations for bad location edits. Ingress players may want to abuse a location edit to drop links off of a hard to access portal or to have portals lined up for a layered fielding plan.
I think what you fail to remember is that every edit made has been done by an ingress player. Reaching lvl 12 is not an over night thing so they have obviously played for a while.
I think the only true fix is for niantic to open up the cells to match ingress and WU. With this fix you would find more portals put in the right place in the first place or no need to move to let another appear ingame.
There's still a ton, A TON of edits in the system from Redacted, back when there wasn't a cap on edits nor a level requirement. And there were a lot of edits from Ingress and savvy PoGO players that were made in bad faith. I reviewed a ton. Majority of edits were made in good faith though.
Why does every ingress player I've spoken to use that line "done in good faith"? Sugar coat it all you want it's still ingress players all fall them for doing it. If they dont support the edit they should never have done it it's no excuse. And again they wasnt pogo players they was ingress doing the edits.
As I say the only true fix is to changed the cells that are needed for pogo. It would greatly stop the moving around of portals.
