You can aim for the top one. You can be better than an agent that complains about the color of a badge.
It's weird, I know green agents who drive blue cars, and blue agents that drive green cars. But some people here are complaining about the color of a virtual badge that they only have to see when they look at their profile? And only to see who actually picked up the top medal in an event.

It's weird, given that there's never any green challenge badges, how RES never have a problem with the badge color. I guess it's something they just expect, these days.
I'll still get the top tier, but voicing the complaint yet again, is an indication that the complaint hasn't gone away and continues to be made worse. It's not going to stop me getting it, but it is still a valid complaint of RES bias inherent in Niantic.
I think that "unique resonator slots" could be clarified. Does this mean unique slot per agent, or does it mean unique resonator slots for all agents? For instance:
Agent Neo has 8 resonators on a portal before the challenge starts. He recharges the portal through the challenge. The portal remains uncontested during the challenge and all 8 original resonators stay on that portal. Do those 8 resonators count towards Neo's unique resonator slot count? Do those resonators count towards the global unique resonator slot count?
Regarding the portal mentioned earlier, let's assume that during the challenge window, agent Morpheus, also on Neo's team, has not interacted with Neo's portal during the challenge window. He sees Neo's portal and upgrades a few resonators on that portal. Do Morpheus's upgrades count towards the global unique resonator slot count? Does it count towards Morpheus's unique resonator slot count?
Agent Neo, during the challenge window, sees a gray portal. He did not interact with this portal during the challenge window. He puts 8 of his resonators on that portal, converting the portal to his faction. Then, before the challenge period ends, agent Smith, from the other team, and who has also not interacted with this portal during the challenge window yet, takes down Agent Neo's resonators and puts 8 of his own resonators on that same portal. Do both Smith's and Neo's resonator deployments count toward the global unique resonator slot count?
Agent Smith, during the challenge window, finds a gray portal that he has not interacted with during the challenge window. He puts 8 of his resonators on that portal. Before the challenge ends, Smith's resonators naturally decay, leaving the portal unowned by the end of the challenge. Do Smith's resonators count toward the global unique resonator slot count, even though they decayed by the end of the challenge?
How did you figure that upgrades are counted for the personal stat? From the OP:
"A new metric will be enabled in your scanner at the start of the event. You may have to deploy your first Resonator in order for it to show up. As a reminder, this event is for deploys only. Upgrading a Resonator will not count as a deploy."
That seems quite clear that it applies to the personal badge (the new metric in the scanner) as well as the global one.
Update. Despite several days of glyphing L1 portals and careful inventory management we have found that Niantic has some kind of undocumented limit (appears to be time) on deploying resonators. This seems like a REALLY STUPID time to implement this, right after initiating a challenge to deploy resonators.

True story @NianticBrian ENL will purposefully not participate because of the badge colors. They've done it before. Somewhat petty.

As much as I would love to being 110% broke is kinda the hindrance
I do it's just the next portal is 1.3km away and that would not be a pleasant walk
Most expensive free game ever.
And as Niantic employees often point out, not everyone can complete every badge how they'd like.
Or fully deploy 8 resos on 180 portals
Looks like the light version of Magnus builder. No new ideas? It seems like this game is truly dying.
Look at Umbra‘s hair it gets greener... just saying

i still dont understand do i get a point if i upgrade someone elses random resonator ?
Yes unless you already deployed or upgraded on that slot since the start of the event
First one:
No, only deploys or upgrades during the challenge will count.
Second:
Morpheus' upgrades count towards his own badge but not the global (global only counts deploys)
Third:
Yes, both count towards the global challenge.
Fourth:
Yes, decays do not influence the count
The next challenge probably will be Helvetica Fielder revival from Exo5 Controller about primesomething already defeated, but very hard to achieve it.
Tiers:
1 Field
10 Fields
50 Fields
lol

Niantic posted an update on it (the topic below this one)

Personal medals can be unlocked even if Global threshold isn't met
Best news eva!
This skate or die Thrasher badge is the best!
double deploy not working gg
Double deploy wasn’t working, and now it seems to work for R7 but not R8.
Received notification on scanner that Umbra is live yet no double deploys for 8s or 7s as of yet. 😡
Was just about to point out the same thing. Thanks!
in addition to no double r8s, I'm getting this
Can not deploy L1 resonators!!!
Limit of 0
Ok it's all fixed now for me.
Am I missing an update?
Double r8 fixed for me.
Word on the street is to restart Prime and then it works fine
Fixed here as well thank you
Just upped one of my own resonators that I deployed before the event and got a point for that.
What does this mean? Why can't 8 L1s be deployed.?
