I used Damz since around 1998. However I was late to ingress so chose Protodamz which is a combo of my original "net" name and a character I have in WoW (Protozoa).
I've had "Whoabot" as my online name for pretty much everything since 2005 (the ones I had in the late 90s and early 2000s are just really embarrassing). Every social media site, every game, Xbox, etc. Just easier than thinking up a new one.
However, four months into playing, I wanted ~ a change~, so I changed it to ModernExplorer (my hometown is nicknamed 'the city of modern explorers', so there you go). I changed it a little bit after that to Nytevizion (an inside joke re: my sunglasses), and I realized quickly that sounded dumb, and nothing felt as right as having Whoabot.
I appealed it again to NIA, but they were like "no old names, fool", so I threw an "x" in front of it, early-2000s AOL Instant Messenger style (and to be be thought of as ex-Whoabot). I used to be Whoabot, but still am. xWhoabot.
I chose my name when signing up for various online forums, and carried it over into gaming after that. It comes from St. Vidicon of Cathode, a fictitious saint whose origin story I find relevant to my life. It is not, contrary to popular opinion, a misspelling of vicodin, nor is it related to vidcon, a convention for vloggers and youtubers.
When the game was pitched to me (alpha), it was described as "Cyberpunk" in milieu. So I picked my PC from a good friend's Shadowrun campaign, @d0gboy. Pitch was he was a street kid who escaped the Renraku arcology's AI problem, and grew up a technomancer with drones for friends and a taste for late 80s trash TV (think dogboy the MTV Liquid Television sketch), Also think using Small Wonder BTL chips as phishing for some exotic targets.
After playing the game, I realized it was more of a technothriller or a sci-fi/spy intrigue type scene, but by the time it was easy to change your name, it had gotten too big to change. I always wanted 'AnonymousBosch' when I found out it had a lot more spies and present day hackers than technoshamans and sapient drones though.
The Age of Makto was an era of time as marked by the Tkon Empire that occurred some 600,000 years ago. This Age took place after the Age of Xora.
It was during the Age of Makto that the central star of that empire went nova This event lead to the eventual decline and collapse of the Empire.
Star Trek Next Generation (The Last Outpost)
Interestingly it appeared again which I find curious
A Toruk Makto is a Na'vi individual who successfully manages to ride a great leonoptryx (Na'vi name: toruk). There had only been five Toruk Maktos prior to Jake Sully. and they are spoken of with great respect and honour. Using the prestige of the position, Jake unified the Na'vi against the RDA and led them to victory in the **** on the Tree of Souls. Toruk Makto translates as "Rider of the Last Shadow"

I had heard from some friends when I was traveling to Salt Lake City that they were teasing her about me and she said "What is all this Glenuendo all about?" I heard that, had a good laugh and held on to it ever since.
My name comes from a poem written by an Irish monk (which I heard in an interview with the author Thomas Cahill):
I and Pangur Ban my cat, 'tis a like task we are at,
Hunting mice is his delight, hunting words I sit at night.
I like cats, I like reading, so I used the name on Runescape, but the name spelled with the "u" was already taken, so I spelled it Pangarban and have used it ever since.
Long story. When I was looking for a domain name I knew I needed to combine two words to find something available. I wanted to not have to spell it out after having lived in Peek Street "P-double-E-K Street" which is a lot of syllables for a 4-letter street name. After trying several combinations I finally found one that was available, and I use it as a name wherever I can. It wasn't available for Ingress though, as there was an inactive level-2 account. I appended NZ on the end to make it unique. This has been useful when travelling and makes it easier for me to meet local players.
I said it was going to be a long story, and this is the abbreviated version.
Most people think mine is a Jim Morrison reference. It's actually a reference to the album Lizard by King Crimson. LizardKing was taken so I added the numbers.
I embrace the numbers... 430 Is now the time I get up in the morning.😂
@jim831001Frank Abnagale said the only things he needs to steal someone's identity is their name, date of birth and place of birth. You're giving out 2/3 of those in just your IGN!
Originally realwillow, always used it, and when not available, realwillow1, realwillow2 etc
That derived from my days in school, combination of my first and last name (William Low), and for some reason I'm real.
My current IGN is because I let the Kent /Sussex ENL players propose possible new igns for me, then vote on which I should be.
Boaty Mc Boat Face was in the news at the time.
I've had an ongoing think about lost lemons, often asking random people in comms to help me find my lemon (random players have seen me playing, met up with me and given me actual lemons as a result).
Lemon Mc Lemon Face won the vote, unfortunately LemoMcLemonFace was one character too many, so it got abbreviated to what you see now, LemoMcLemonFace
Mine comes from Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, The Queen Across the Sea. My four dragons were spitting fire every time I played Ingress 💥 I really like covering the nearby kingdoms 💚
No thought about it really. just sounded cool at the time. I play(ed) Pokemon go at the time, and didnt wanted the other players to know that it was me - so i had to come up with a new name. And then Hucklegreenie was born.. eventually they figured out:-) but i now got used to the name.
I started out with my IGN being a combination of my first and middle names. I was photographed by someone the third week that I was playing Ingress and I freaked out, reported it, Niantic called me, asked me about my name, and immediately made me change it. I knew I wanted a double name and something Irish/celtic. I started with Irish combos, then celtic combos... Nothing was working. My friend thought of 'Trinity' and the last combo I had tried was celticprincess. Then it stuck. :(
I love the Trinity part, but the princess part is weird sometimes because I'm no princess. That being said, I can trace myself back to Irish royalty for over 1k yrs to the 500s, and I like to dress up for Ren Faires. So, maybe... sort-of.. kind-a be ok... Still not sure about that though. Lolz 💚💙

Mine is Old English, literally ælf (elf) addle. It meant what nightmare means in Modern English, and to my mind makes a lot more sense. 🙂
English name + birthday so simple for me
Every year on Oct. 1, I am very afraid of local agents because they trick me every year QAQ

You can find me in a dictionary of toxins.
I've been using PainEnforcers as a Gamer Name for years across different services. People are always curious about it. Its kinda funny 😂
Oh hi I'm VAIN! 👋🦊
My little business Gallifreyan Pendants was my inspiration. Gallifreyan was already taken (ENL that doesnt seem to play) so tacked on the P.
I make keyrings and pendants in fictional languages btw. As well as ingress swag
Mine is just my nickname for everything

From a rush song.
Mine is Sanskrit for victorious.

My name is John,,,, and I am an Aussie
I just changed my name from DaftTron - when I first viewed the scanner I got instant Tron vibes. I love Daft Punk so... easy to see the combination.
The rename is when I decided to go all in with Tron and hope the Grid is an execution program

liyu1: liyu is my real first name, and for some reason i couldn't pick just 'liyu' so it has become 'liyu1' 😛
