Intel not loading all Portals.

I have noticed since Nov 29th that Intel does not always show every Portal/Link on the map.
This is not a problem with being zoomed to far out. Sometimes a simple refresh will show the missing portals. Other times the refresh does not immediately help.

I observed this mistake for the first time in the night from 11/27 to 11/28. I had received a mail about a portal editing, wanted to look at the change and was surprised to see that a neighboring known home portal had disappeared. Also a Refresh/Reload did not help. Only in the following morning the portal was again visible.
PS: The error occurs since then both on the Android telephone and at home at the PC in the Firefox again and again coincidentally.
I was noticing this yesterday, as well.
Also happening here on phone and on laptop browser.
Use IITC for pogo planning and have been repeatedly experiencing the same issue which just started the last few days after 6 months of no problems.
Sometimes it won't show a portal even after multiple refreshes and sometimes doesn't even load any of the portals like shown in the screenshot above.
I've seen this quite a few times lately.
It seems to be a caching issue, where a tile is being returned before the data is loaded into the cache, meaning that when the tile comes back, it doesn't contain the portals, but subsequent requests for that tile (using hard refresh) seem to load fine in most cases, and others take longer.
Once the tile loads correctly, it continues to load correctly (for a reasonable period of time).
IITC refuses to show the 'list of portals' while some are missing - so something it is doing can't have finished properly.
There are large amounts of {error: "TIMEOUT"} in getEntity responses. Depending on portal density 5-50% of the data is missing. Even after a refresh the loaded data differs every time (missed portals are now on intel, and already loaded portals are gone).
I know the timeouts in IITC are intentional and get retried. The issue seems to be more that the
getEntities
request doesn't return a timeout, but returns no data in that response.EDIT: Actually I went through an entire load and there's a number of "NIA takedown in progress. Stand by." responses to
getEntities
requests, but they too get retried. This has gotten really bad, sometimes more than 20% of the portals in a particular view fail to load and it often takes 3 or 4 or more refreshes before they do.
I hope Niantic can do something about this soon,
Try it again this morning. After last night's downtime, it loaded 100% for me over a wide view.
After this evening's (uk) second change to the base web page it is still happening.
Yeah, whatever they did after this last refresh broke it again.
I'm not sure the 'refresh' is related, but it is still broked this morning after anither one.
Yeah, as of the update about 13 hours ago, the refresh isn't helping, so I think they made it worse trying to make it better.
I too, same from 11/27 , starts noticing portals not loaded completely.
After yesterday's Intel maintenance, it looked good for half a day but the problem appeared again then.
I'm also seeing missing portals in Intel and scanner was very slow to update portals during combat yesterday... about 20 minutes.
Closing the browser and re-opening did not make the portals reappear in Intel. They eventually show, but went away again.
Also Missions dont show in Intel Filter. Just says "Loading"
I see missing portals even after a few refreshes. IITC/Stock intel doesn't make a difference. They need to fix this ASAP, we need reliable intel. The client lets us down enough, Intel was our rock.
Is there any official communication from Niantic that they are aware and looking into this?
Intel was our rock
Oh man, try using it during Anomalies 🤣
Why would I do that :D we have operators and team leaders. ;)
Seems to come and go. At times it's loading all portals and at other times it's missing 20-30%.
If it's cache related, then that 'coming and going' is completely dependent on whether that data has recently been called into the cache, or you're the first in x hours to do so. If it's pre-cached, it's there. If not, you ask for it, fail to get it, but it's there for the next request.
Well yeah... that's who I'm talking about. 🤣
I was seeing far fewer unclaimed portals zoomed to 200m than either 500m or 100m on one map area.
Very strange behaviour.
Still not working
It isn't only unclaimed portals that are missing. Portals at the end of links can also be missing - although a marker is usually 'faked up' by the UI for those.
The fact we have ZERO acknowledgement of Niantic on this issue is worrisome.
We have acknowledgement that they know about it and are working on it, from talking directly to employees. But it's Niantic. They never admit there's a fault until they have the solution ready.
And that's the reason why so many people think Niantics communication is s-h-i-t
And rightfully so...
Oh, I don't disagree. I wrote the second big open letter to them in 2014 about it. (@RedSoloCup wrote the first while still an Agent). They've improved in some part, largely due to Andrew's efforts, but there's still an upper management culture of "mushroom the players".
Just encountered this bug. Intel loading has finished, on all portals zoom, but a ton of portals missing.
