Is there still an audience out there for Ingress Decoding?
Who here has an interest in learning about Ingress Decoding and puzzle solving? There are at least hundreds of agents already intrigued. Could there be thousands?
Ever wonder where those codes come from that pop up in your Community and event chats?
If you happen to stumble upon a hidden clue, are you curious to figure out how to solve it? Does the idea of decoding events interest you?
I am currently putting forth efforts towards an Ingress Decoding revival and I would like your opinions, questions, support, and comments for inspiration.
Thank you! And remember... "expect the unexpected".

i used to play this way in the beginning, kinda started to fall out of it after interitus but passively paid attention and helped a bit through abaddon.
if there is a decoding revival i could get on board. been a while, but it was fun to do in the beginning. i guess with g plus gone finding codes will have to go to other places?
I am still interested :)
everyone want passcodes/items, but decoding is another game and there are some ways of sharing them.
also, single redeem passcode is a buzzer puzzle. it's difficult to "balance" them. XD
I am num504569 ranked second in jojowotd in 2018 (probably).
Of course, I love deciphering and puzzles.
Whenever I got jojowotd, I posted a brief commentary on the Google+ ENL Tokyo community.
I wanted to get interest from agents who did not decipher.
Passcodes that can be redeemed only once are considered to be a high hurdle for those who are about to start decoding.
Spreading the raw decoded passcode may not be as good as the fun of deciphering. Aside from people like me who care where the passcode comes from. I was interested in knowing that such passcodes can be obtained by deciphering.
It may be better to have a practice practice of deciphering, like First Saturday.
Did Google Translation work well?
@num504569 Google translate worked great. Ty for your contribution.
Yas! Decoding and events that involved it were always really exciting and great ways of involving both on and off site participants
I will read the whole topic later but needed to put my +1 before I can't find the topic anymore.
Decoding gives Ingress the second life for me. It greatly broadened my horizons, especially the Word of the Day. I wish it will be recursed too.
Where does one retrieve the material necessary to begin decoding?
@Sonicgott
A great place to start is on the agent managed website ingress.codes. There they offer tutorials, old Word of the Day, Anomaly, and Daily solves, tools, and formats.
This is awesome @jplolo ... I will start there and see what I can learn!
@LeppyR64 There is a star on the top of this page, so I think it's good to click. An email will come when there is an update.
I love decode / puzzle through almost all my Ingress life, though my decode sense is poor.
Decode gave us a chance to know another side of Ingress and contrbuted to form network of agents.
I think that the most important Ingress advantage (than other games) is to cooperate/communicate with other players. Decoding with other agents was soooo fan / interesting days.
I really wish Ingress Decode will come back!!
I've always enjoyed cryptography and would totally be down for a decoding community revival!
by the way, niantic might forget to use ttps://decode.ingress.com ?
@1Z4N4G1 I guess the secret is out. lol. Regarding this site, questions are being asked. A place of intrigue? We'll see.
I believe IFS are being used as a nice doorway to introduce players into Decoding.
I also miss Investigate codes!
I would like to suggest this here: we all know Niantic is getting a physical part with GORUCK and the other special agents games. What if they did some kind of "Decodympiads"?
For example: what if media hacks drop Media Cubes which contain encryted passcodes that add up to the total score when redeemed? That would be a real kick!
@GoblinGranate Great idea! This is in fact something we intended to propose. I'm glad to see others are thinking outside of the box. And indeed, that is a required skill for a mind of a decoder.
yep, missing this feature too
Have you ever tried....
To break out of your waiting room,
and find yourself a waiting groom?
@VerumInveniri Still stuck in my head... all the time.
Yep, booted ViOS 🤫 awesome seeing you here
I was missing writing.
How about the medal by decoding?
I think it would be possible if Niantic could determine the first agent to redeem.
I checked out the ingress.codes website... and nothing has been done in a year. o.O
There are years worth of old solves on there and the lessons are still accurate.
The reason it hasn't had new solves added is one of the reasons for this thread. Niantic hasnt put much out there for us to decode.
Badges are unlikely from what I understand, at this point. But, a scoreboard is possible.
How would such a scoreboard be calculated for group solves? Or mass leak redeems? Please share any suggestions.
The Google+ articles don't seem to be accessible anymore.
Ooh. This is a good point. G+ is down for good. This put a kink in a lot of Ingress sharing, communications, and even code releases to a degree. This forum was even made to accommodate part of what we lost.
You can go to their "Contact Us" page to ask if they can resource that material in another location so it's still accessable. They've been responsive to me in the past.
For example, how about adding 1 point to the first 10 redeems?
Also, the passcode can be redeemed by many people.
(I can not quote... my rank is not enough to post link!
I am not to support a badge for decoding.
I think that the fact that being a decoder in an event is the best goal to chase, so the event badge is ok for me.
I'd say that would make (at least) 9 points for agents with no idea of decoding :D
