I agree. It can be as easy as purchasing the medals in the in-game store, then having a confirmation email with the item passcode sent. This way Niantic can sell their stuff digitally, and players can choose when to redeem the items.
Right now I'm waiting to buy these after the anomaly (or during) so that I have space to keep hacking until then.
Just a heads up that I believe the previous anomaly load-out cards or digital kits were the same or similar items at $19 and $59. The CMU pricing should be roughly equivalent to that if you purchase the larger CMU bundles, for example $20 for 32,000 CMU.
All four Umbra bundles will be available for at least 2 weeks, or Tues, Oct 22. If you're concerned that purchasing the load-out kit will push you past the item limit before the anomaly or Mission Day, you'll still have time after this weekend's events to decide.
You can buy 1 of each bundle, but buying the +Ultra Bundle as well as a specific character medal bundle will not give you 2 of the same character medals. If you prefer not to buy the +Ultra Bundle, you can buy 1 of each specific character medal bundle instead. Thank you.
@NianticBrian An official word on purchase constraints might ease some minds. There's a lot of pent-up anxiety about this little issue.
It looks as though one can head back to store multiple times, but can only purchase one each of all 4 kits, including the combo pack--if one has that much disposable income ;) So, for instance I could buy the ADA one today, win the lottery Friday and splurge on the combo pack, then pick up one more single during the anomaly, and another next week sometime.
But...the info released and the store itself are a bit vague on details there.
Thanks for getting it working! Sure, I miss the little cards, but still love the character medals anyway.
I knew that was one of the classic characters will return to Umbra event for "Ingress Prime"!!
And now, I saw that characters medal for "Ingress Prime" and all those stuffs!! And, that was actually "HALLOWEENGRESS Prime" as the first-ever Halloween-themed version of "Ingress Prime"!!!
So, **** for you next, Umbra!! And Happy HALLOWEENGRESS!!!👻🎃☠️

As previously stated, anomaly packs containing L8 gear have always been made available for purchase. Only difference now is they're being made available via the store and limited to a single purchase
The total cost to purchase enough CMU for the bundle is 100,000 CMU, which requires both a $US79.99 (for 90k CMU) and another purchase of at least $US14.99 for enough CMU to cover the rest. Putting the price of the load out +characters at $US94.98 which is rather alot more than previous.
Taking exchange rates into account, Australians are having to pay in excess of $AU141 to purchase that pack. Individual character packs work out as around $AU46 each- far in excess of the old pricing.
A great number of agents are completely unable to cover this sort of cost
@GallifreyanP I wasn't on the team for the last few years of events so I still need to catch up to speed, but do you see options for 90,000 CMU ($50 USD) + 15,000 CMU ($10 USD) in the Store? At previous anomalies, were the $59 USD digital kits sold at a different price in Australia?
Not quite. These anomaly packs also included PHYSICAL SWAG that increased the percieved value of the pack. Having dug through the vast supply of surplus pins at Abbadon Prime Chicago, I get why you stopped offering that. And I can think of a laundry list of problems getting swag over borders. But don't pretend that those items weren't a large part of the reason we bought those kits.
Not correct. Price has changed and now you get less. See you also conveniently forgot to mention the additional cost of a ticket if you want medal and 2AP.
I'm torn. I want to support the game but I don't want to buy face medals. I've never been into having them on my profile. I'd redeem one if I earned it in a decoding challenge or found it in a deaddrop, but that's it
Yeah not without the physical cards. Being avid swag traders with binders full of cards we have collected over the years, the lack of physical cards a killer. You would also get a patch for your jacket/hoody/bag, pin, coin etc.
Now it's $32 for a badge and some gear that would mostly get recycled.
My wife and I used to buy a physical pack each, and another 1-4 for trade purposes/prizes at events/raffles for fund raising/dead drops.
Without the cards and a code I can redeem when I want the gear/save the code for an op...
I'd like to support the game financially, but not like this.

Right. And historically speaking, especially with anything anomaly-related, ambiguity tends to be the source of much frustration.
He did answer that as well. Available until October 22nd.
Awesome. I must have missed it - I stand corrected on that point.

Where are you getting those numbers? My scanner only charges $49.99 USD for 90,000 CMU.
I'm going to assume iOS? We've noticed in the UK that the Apple tax for iOS purchases is quite a lot on some of the bundles.
Prices quoted by @GallifreyanP are the Australian pricing for CMU.
Here's what I see (current exchange rate 1 AUD = 0.673 USD) in the app for CMU
Yep- I had assumed that the $price for CMU was in US across the world. Those prices I quote are in Aussie dollars.
It is more expensive for us than it is for US agents considering exchange rates.

The bundle is weirdly priced in my opinion and isn't worth the 100k CMU.
So I guess we get screwed in Australia as CMU costs are ridiculous!!!
Yup. What a joke. Absolute rip-off @NianticBrian Not to mention the cost of an Anomaly ticket on top of this. Greed is all I see here!!!
Yes. Which is why you can only buy the pack once which was my point. They're not selling X8s en masse.
Price is unchanged from the last anomaly series. Don't like it, don't buy the swag. It's all completely optional and always has been.
Yeah I think Nia may have not have considered the fact that many people purchase packs to gift codes at XFAC events, or First Saturdays as prizes.
Additionally, those loadout codes were great to hang onto for some remote player during some crazy op, who needed gear they didn't have.
Voila - loadout code.
I used to buy these packs, but I don't think I have much incentive to now.

Pricing is actually slightly better look at past tickets which were about $26AUD for a single badge.
The price of medals has not changed, and you get slightly more gear now. Anomaly ticket is separate.

In April, the "Digital Readiness Pack" for all 3 medals cost $59.
There were no physical parts to it. There was no significant stink about it.
Didn't buy that either tho...
