TY Claudia for that long letter... Its "awesome" to see that hardcore monetization, without any comment, say to people "hey, all cities are sattelite without our persons but we want your 15 USD for - uh, just for nothing but why not... "
CG NIA, if you want force old school players end with this game, then you are at correct way to lose community
i dont have any problem to pay for anything, but its about communication...
The fact that is a Vanguard to write this post should be insightful for Niantic.
I can see a lot of reasons to buy a ticket for an event, but not at the current conditions.
Organizing an anomaly means POCs voluntarly do a lot of tasks for that. Let's say:
define a playbox;
engage other players to farm keys and spread them around the world for recharge rooms;
finding public places and spots as checkpoints;
they do a lot of work for sharing and promoting the event;
not to mention the fact that they must manage all bureaucracy stuff such as police permissions, municiple communications and so on.
Also, from today, POCs will have to pay in order to do this.
And it could be almost acceptable, if it wasn't for the total lack of communication and timing from Niantic.
I could have accepted more this solution if it started not from this anomaly group but maybe the next one. Giving players some month to organize themselves.
They missed out on getting it right and doing something for the game and at the same time monetizing Ingresse honestly.
There has to be a free sign-up option for those who are "On site". Free for those who help with recharge rooms and code decoding should also be maintained.
Want to make money ???
Open the Off Site option for players from around the world to play AP at their place of residence, charge their players US $ 13.00, and include in the anomaly score 1 point for the faction that gets the highest capture score. AP World Capture with players entered during the time window of the anomaly they signed up for and paid to participate off site and thus win the medal. Many people do not have the money to travel to an anomaly, but they can contribute by playing at their place of origin at the same time as the anomaly takes place. That would be millions of dollars raised, without changing the current system where the POCs work for you for free.
The anomalies would become events of worldwide movement, not just local ones.
That would be aggregate and not divide. Everyone would pay the extra fee for a new game mode in the anomaly without altering the existing system.
Moreover we know that this decision was made a long time ago and left to disclose at the last minute on purpose. This is dishonest.
Seems that Niantic wet dreams about a big XF thing has become reality at this 9 pages post! Game was switching from a PvP scheme to PvE with the last global events, now the process is complete with this Niantic new ticket thing: it ' s NvP (Niantic vs players).
@Claudija thank you very very much for the compilation. I hope this arrives at Niantic and will be considered, meaning, the mandatory fees for every participating and registered agent being discontinued.
I'm sad that we have to watch this awesome game slowly die because of Niantic's continous poor decisions and refusal to truly listen to their playerbase. Nine pages of comments and still no response...
This is idiocy. As a Keyfarmer I find that the only thing worse than someone laying out a huge sum of money is screwing with the folks that doesn't have the money or week to come to anomaly. Charging people to be in resource (recharge )room is the worst possible thing you could do.
There's only one gaming company that's worse about communication. Hasbro. I got out of Magic: the Gathering for many of the same issues.
For the love of games don't mess with the community than it has taken the game on its back when it could have left it to either on the vine.
Thank you @Claudija for posting this. It was needed. You said everything perfectly. I can't hit that like button hard enough.
We all support sustainability for ingress but we have repeatedly asked for clear communication and given so many ideas on monetisation of ingress. We all must listen to your playerbase if ingress is going to survive. Please take these comments and posts on board, @NianticBrian . We play because we love this game enough to do everything we do volunteerily. That speaks volumes.
With the move to paid anomaly tickets, each agent needs a reasonable assurance that they can have their participation “verified,” because that’s a prerequisite for the anomaly medal, bonus AP, etc.
For onsite tickets, "[performing] at least 13 successful hacks of onsite Anomaly portals during the Anomaly period" meets that requirement.
For offsite tickets, "[recharging] an Anomaly portal during the Anomaly period or successfully [submitting] any decoded Anomaly code during the Anomaly period" meets that requirement — but I think also leaves room for abuse. Read literally, it is enough to buy an offsite ticket and recharge 1 XM. Alternatively, it is enough to buy an offsite ticket, wait for someone to share "any decoded Anomaly code" with the world, and then submit that code. I'm not sure that either scenario is what is intended by "remote participation."
Very well written. I really hope that Niantic reads this and re-evaluates this and other bad ideas they have had as of late (sparkly scanner which cause migraines and epileptic seizures) A subset of us will still go to Anomalies, we will still pay the ticket price, we will still use Prime, we will still meet our friends and have a good time, maybe even buy some swag that ships from Lithuania (what?) but a vast majority of people I think will be putting down their scanners for good with the Prime evolution, and the event pricing debacle. It’s becoming another nail in the coffin of Ingress. This makes this Founder smurf sad to see the game I've come to love and the family I've met go this negative route. Fix it Niantic.
I read the letter this morning and thought I'd chime in and say something that has alread been said by the OP (I'm going to be speaking in general terms throughout).
I'm not going to complain about the cost. I understand. the company needs money to pay for lights and employees and taxes and rent. That is understandable. what I don't understand and what hasn't been addressed by Niantic is what are we getting out it
If we, the factions, are organizing the where, the how, the who, the hotels, the venues, the areas, the food, and you may or may not to show up, what's the purpose then? I've already been told that one person, who was planning a RR isn't going to because of the new charge. Would he have gotten a little kickback for organizing a RR? What about the people who are force to put their name and credit card down to block of rooms for those coming in from out of town? are they going to get a "Here's for your trouble" reward? or those that have to do the same for venues? To rent bikes? or, as of recently, a bus?
We're not being greedy, at least I don't think we are. But considering that a number of us have been here since beta, having us do the leg work is asking a lot for, as someone else said, a bunch of pixels on a screen.

Agreed!
Looks like the NIA wanna to create new community for pay2win gaming :(

92 minutes of applause for this letter! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I agree 100%.
Shame on you Niantic.
You will be able to read a response of NIA in the subscriber section.

Thank you @Claudija , completely agree with everything you’ve written and I too would add my name to this.
Pay to play!
I'll not Stay!
Thank you @Claudija! Totally agree!
...and once again you spent hours and hours to write this great statement... Hopefully not for nothing...

15$ to anomaly😟 Niantic troll ☹️
A great analysis of the situation Claudija, thanks for taking the time to put it together.
Well. this thing blew up in more ways than one.

Thanx for writing this. 100% support 👍🏼
100% agreed.
@NianticBrian the s..t has already hit the fan - and it hit hard. Why don't you say something? Afraid of your player base?
Signed and 100% supported. I've got nothing more to add.
This is a great letter and explains and summarises clearly what is being said in thousands of Ingress chats. Well done @Claudija
More inventory space??? I totally would pay for that!
