I was SO excited to hear about shards. But all that joy turned to ashes.
XF shards? What kind of strange perversion is this?
This game has been a competitive game between two factions for as long as it stands. Why do you want to turn football into cricket?
You have a huge bonded community playing faction-against-faction, why would you ever want it to fall apart by removing the exact idea, the exoskeleton that holds it together? I feel like a person who played DOOM and suddenly his DOOM screen turns to SIMS.
We are in for the competition, not for win trading, not for POKEMON farming, and you have a huge fan base that actually LOVES and ENJOYS this COMPETITIVE game.
XF shards game is the worst rules even can be in Ingress. Ingress is a strategy game that is interesting by the confrontation between the factions. No need to try to force factions to play casual shards, it is not interesting to players. Only those who have never played Ingress could offer such shards :(
Hmm, xfaction stuff causes players to humanize the other side, thus reducing the amount of annoyance reports niantic gets.
My area went from full on stalking of each other in comms to friendly play between people who have broken bread together at first Saturdays. Much less cutthroat. Anything that reduces ..."cannons, lollipops, etc." Drawn on people's front lawns is a good thing
It's something new, get over yourselves and work towards the next challenge, you can get back to your normal mundane ingress battles in a few weeks, for now if you don't like it stay at home, don't hack as you obviously don't want the badge and let the people who want to play do so. Nuff said, NIA aren't going to U-turn on this so either get behind it or crawl back under your stones and stop wasting your/our time by whining about it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a massive fan of XFAC but NIA have put a challenge out there, if people don't like it, don't cry about it......you can forget about it after the 30th and get back to complaining about Prime lol
I really don't see the issue with an Xfac Shard event, to be honest. So much negativity in this threat.
This could be a great exercise. It certainly changes the way how we would have to look at a fielding/linking op. Now we can just ask the other faction to clear some blockers. Kinda refreshing.
Not a bad idea to change things up a bit every now and then.
I don't expect to see a shard within 50km of me. It will be fun to see where they land, which agent successfully moves it on to a new agent etc. And get it to the portal called "home". Our luck would be my big city will have nothing to do with the challenge.

Factions forced to work together? What utter BS is this. Can we have proper gameplay like cell wars back
Except that the events are the big competition.
This "shard" event is an abomination.

As disappointed as ever.

So this 75% Decay rate actually sounds good for a week. Great time to go work on those unique captures and
Fortunately, that already exists via First Saturdays, NL1331 meetups, etc.
OMG!!!!! They killed Ingress! You bastards!!!
I'm loving the salty responses this is getting.

Yeah, I can't wait until the upcoming event where the factions unite to capture enough Pokemon to meet the research goal.
Wait...

Alright it might be a dumb question but, how and when do we find out the target portals?
Soon ™
SEP 17: 9pm UTC three Shards will appear. At this time, we will activate the four global NIA Target Portals.
In other words, we won't know the target portals until they are activated.
I knew I liked you.
I actually don’t find this abominable, but it doesn’t seem terribly challenging either.
Welcome to the world of spoofer... Shards are the way to bring more spoofer do a shitty thing...
2015's nightmare again?
Heck yeah Shardssssss
Maybe it's a way to flush out spoofers. I think Dark XM did that too. Thousands of accounts banned within daus.
XF-shards?
Ingress is dead.
look like a helios time

hey guys. do you wnat global shard event?
I absolutely hate it. no more 2015's nigjtmare again.
so why exactly should we "work together"? the person who wrote the rules does not know about ADA and JARVIS?

Sorry, guys, but you crossed the red line with this. Not going to open the scanner during the entire event, not to get any portal hacked occasionaly.
