I'm _this_ close to terminate my ingress account
It has been around two months now. Still nothing...
We were a family playing ingress. Much playing in the beginning, not so much lately and for about two month ago, not at all.
I was the one playing the most. Yes, capsules went back and forth. Of course they did. We shared, like a family should..
Yes, it had all the telltales for three backpacking accounts and one active account. But they were not! Maybe the other faction reported me. Who knows......
We have sent ban appeals with no answer. I do not know who is Vanguard in this area but I think that someone contacted this person. Still nothing....
I was told to send pictures of my family with their cell-phones and with the scanner open. Done, with no reply....
They have sent more appeals. Nothing...
This is getting ridiculous!
I have almost stopped playing. The only playing I do is on the top of mountains.
I do not expect that what I wrote will help me getting my family back into the game. I just had to get this of my chest.
Soon signing of for good

If your family was farming for you and feeding you gear that is the definition of a backpack. Say a family of four redeemed all the passcodes that just went out but fed all that gear to one person to play. That is a backpack. It doesn't matter if they occasionally play. Their primary function is told hold and create gear for one player.

Lleno con todas tus cosas todo lo traigo aquí
Todo lo que necesites llevo dentro de mi
Mochila, Mochila (2×)
Sí!
If they play, and if you're not the one logging into the account to transfer gear, it's not a backpack.
Yes, they play. Way less than me. They get gear from me, but i get more gear from them.
I think agents dont like it. But Niantic say it is ok and follow the rules and TOS.
Should be fine if you're not fibbing at all. Niantic should reverse it if you've never shared devices. If you have, that's very suspect and I could see why a report would lead to the bans.
All you really are saying to us is what someone who does backpack would say in the face of bans, so it's tough to get fully behind you.
The game's pretty fun solo, I have fun with it having nobody near me to coordinate with.
So long as what you are saying is true, I hope this issue will be resolved for you soon. Give it some time.
Sharing devices should be fine - provided that it really is a different person using the device when you switch users. Niantic have said from the start that this is completely acceptable. I think this is one of the reasons why multi-accounting has always been difficult to prove.
I suppose that Niantic has specific clues before they terminate accounts like login into the same account from two different places.
This is why I rarely swap anything with my occasionally playing girlfriend with who'm i share a household. I want to avoid any suggestion I can that I use her account to my ends, because I don't, and this is probably good advice for you as well.
A family that primarily feeds you gear is functionally the same as backpack outright. Even if they do occasionally **** a portal or put down a field. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me to expect at some point something will happen if the primary interactions these accounts have are gear trades.
Experience says: if the game is not bringing you joy, quit it.
This is what your locals want? Ok, good for them, but I don't see why should you lose your time on your locals.
You have better things in your lifeto waste your time in. They don't.
Who is getting the money at the end of the day? Who should be worrying about this?
I'm confused by the mechanics involved here. Namely that you say that you receive more gear from your casual play family than they receive from you.
The reason this seems confusing to me is that in my experience, my wife who plays casually has always received more gear from me than I from her. It only follows. I'm the one who dedicated the hours to learning to glyph hack at a decent level. I'm the one who maintains portals along his commute. I'm the one who goes to farms. My wife? She opens her scanner and expends most of her bursters on anything nearby. So when I get home, I give her some of my bursters. No worries, I'll hack more.
If the opposite is happening in your case, this suggests that your family accounts are mostly hacking, or redeeming passcodes or just have lots of qcaps generating gear. That's pretty suspicious looking.
Realistically, if your family has decided that their involvement in the game is that they just want to generate gear for you, that should be fine. Everyone should decide their own involvement, but can you see how this would be difficult to distinguish from someone who has multiple accounts that they play and simply uses their family as a cover?
Please try to understand, the games people play with accounts would likely resemble your behavior.
If a partner/family plays only very casually, they might grow more things in their Quantum Capsules than they typically use
They might have (as many active players do) a lot of their main inventory stored in QC by default. Imagine the productivity of 10 well stocked QC
