I reported this to Reddit so it's up to their team to decide how they want to address it on their platform. On the Ingress side, selling and trading accounts violates the TOS and we'll investigate further.
You know, I saw that Reddit post and wondered if it was a troll. Surely no one would be stupid enough to post that for real in an official Ingress forum?
If only. There are already enough bought accounts on here doing portal subs and reviews. You can report them but they likely won't be banned. Basing my statement off prior reports & the fact that bought accounts are still submitting portals and reviewing them. Just have to keep a key for a portal that they submitted to watch their AP and opr stats climb up!
Totally not. I've seen accounts being sold in our local marketplace such as Lazada Malaysia, Lelong, Shopee, and Ebay, even the spoofing tools are widely sold despite how it's against the TOS. NIA could have contacted the marketplaces and ask for a takedown, but I don't think they care.
Some of us tried to report the sellers at those marketplaces, but that too fell on deaf ears.
Those who are thinking it's okay to do this must have felt it's a way for quick bucks. As long as the demands are there, I guess. /shrugs.
It already exists. They're doing it by coming to ingress, and it was already a thing between ingress players too.
It just doesn't make sense to me that someone has to play other game to make changes to their. The function is even there already, just so hard that people go to alternative route, messing the game of other community, since most don't care at all.
The effort of the achievement should be equal in both games, so it's logical to lower it in pokemon, or raise it in ingress.
Unless this is the way Niantic found out to increase marketing to Ingress...
The entire OPR system relies on a majority of reviewers acting in good faith. Giving PoGo players access risks that balance. I'd prefer that people who will try to move a portal off a PoI to try and make another gym not have access to the reviewing system.
Level 40 players here in Canada would absolutely submit rubbish and pray. I had one ask me to submit every corporate restaurant in town and another ask me to put in a truck stop that has nothing worthwhile just because there's a lot of Pokemon spawns there.
I think a long special research task exclusive to level 40s would be the way to ease pogo players into making quality submissions, oddly enough. Move over Missions and make them complete some, give them one submission and lock progression behind getting it accepted.. That's the best way imo
I believe that this distance system should be reworked, as well as the criteria of chosing which one will become Gym, in a way to prevent gaming the system (if there is 2 in the same cell, in the next refresh one will disappear, this will prevent some edits).

EDIT:
Hope Niantic finds out through their various screening tools, otherwise just hope for the best and realize people like these are out there.

I saw this for a moment on Reddit. I didn't have time to post but I wanted to put this on full blast since SCREAMS of TOS violations.
Kind of made me mad.
And yet, it is extremely hard to get one banned. Even if they are as obvious as can be

Niantic should lower to 30 the submission lv in pokemon, and allow lv40 to access the OPR.
No it shouldn't.
Why not? This will end the interest of PoGO players to come to ingress just to do it, spoofing and mess up legit players.
Because there will likely be a strong bias for couch portals, and other rubbish nominations, which are already evident going through OPR.
Lowering the requirements will just make that worse
Welp,. I got banned from that community. Apparently they don't like to get called out. 🤷
They already do, so long as you earn L10 in Ingress to submit and L12 in Ingress to review.

I'd wager more than "some" :p
Or make it based on land use like WU. Either way something needs to be done to stop gaming the system and stop abusive edits.
