Finished today with exactly 1000 points. I totally underestimated the effort needed for this when I first compared it to the Myriad challenge, but glyphing means (mostly) not possible from vehicle, 100% concentration to not get it wrong and remember each portal history, portal clusters to make it bearable, and a city environment necessary for top tier. Obviously Niantic made the same mistake or the global goal wouldn't have been so high compared to Myriad. And I'm a bit disappointed that thee was no try to save the effort after seeing that there was no chance to meet the goal. Maybe the Niantic researches could have found a way to influence the drop rate of heatsinks or make the cooldown period shorter.
22 thousand accounts banned, many were farm bots, which would have skewed the global score.
However, it is apparent that Niantic did not account for how many legitimate players just don't glyph, or glyph to the extent that the event was tailored for,
Coupled with the price hike of CM, and Fracker packs.
The price gouging of the Aurora Event pack, meant that it was only a few bucks short of an Anomaly pack which provides VR loadout codes.
I did get a couple, because I was absolutely desperate for Common Heatsinks. Being in the coldest and wettest part of the year, standing around for 5 minutes was just not viable, and risk getting sick before the event concluded!
For common mods the packs should have been half the price they were, with 3 beacons, this keeps it in line with the cost of Anomaly packs with VR loadouts.
The metric was dumb. It should have been normal glyph points but each portal only counts once with the top tier of a few thousand. That would have been easier to track by the user and been easier for groups to coordinate. 2 people doing it together was ok but 3 or more was a pain... "OK has everyone done 3 glyphs on this one?"
I got the 1000 but it was seriously draining and not enjoyable after the first 100. But I'm stubborn!
No surprise. It was near impossible to hit the quota. I suspect the quota was based off the success of the first event Myriad, thus they thought we could pull it off again. Well, it's great for those who have wheels and can go lots of places. For the ordinary agent, not so much. Never seen so many on both sides hate an event as much as Aurora.
Yes, in fact they should be the only exception from the 33% reduction in drops. Where is the glory in achieving this medal that many others have failed to reach?
Could Niantic share some interesting stats beyond the simple number of hacks ? Would love to get some insights on the number of players, hack stats in constrast with non-event times, etc :-) very secret stuff ;-)
I think they increased the goal because we did 29 million instead of a goal of 13 million during Myriad. They underestimated what we would do during Myriad - then the pendulum went the other way ...

I have 1000 points. 😁👍🏻
Lol. Collectively we finished with less than half of the required points.
jup this was a disaster event for sure.. now 33% less items tomorrow :(
Being in a rural area, you are screwed. You still have the grind but few players and fewer portals to level up. It was a not in the cards for me.
To few agents work hard to get 36 000 000
I hope more agents work on every events to win togother not only for medal.
Niantic shouldn't punish those who hit 1,000.

@Gargish Some credit has to be given,

Here's an insight: Ingress is closing shop soon.
Way? They soon make Ingress Prime P2W?
The event was much harder than previous but the total goal was set 3x much higher. Why? There wasn't any chance to win.
To few agents play for win togother and get 36 000 000.

Just hack any portal is much more faster and easier than make glyphs without any error
i doubt that lol....
I just felt like venting. Haha. That Aurora ending was just a sad week to play Ingress.
.
Estou sempre animado, para novas missões e medalhas no perfil.
