Actually, Aurora Colorado is a part of the Denver metro area, and not a small town. We often welcome players here from all over the midwest, including Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah... This should be a fun event and we will do our best to make everyone feel welcome :-) Come visit Colorado for the field test, and the weekend - the weather should be awesome and we'd love to see you all!
So, no big faction vs faction battles, but only a small selection of sites (from small to large cities) and a badge for attendees. That does not look like a smart move 🙄
Let's see how the small cities handle the masses of external agents that are going there 🤣
the forum mangled it by including the trailing period. doesn't matter though, even if you find your own way to the events page, clicking on these events does nothing. i guess they're not ready for registrations yet?
From one of the POCs' perspective, I can only say, that it is quite funny to learn from the faction peers that your city application was accepted. So far no reply from NIA.
"We can confirm that this will involve individual rather than Faction activity, and that there will be a new unique event medal available for those agents who attend and complete the test"

If Niantic is testing new mechanics that primarily benefits small cities that don't have a lot of players, it does make sense to run the test in those small cities.
@NianticThomas Can you give a rough time frame for this event so we can do the travel planning, e.g. will this be an all day event where people can more or less choose their playing time, or a short measurement window like with First Saturday?
small cities like Stuttgart or Taipei😅. The point I made was, the small selection of cities aka only a few cities and the fact that NIA is giving out a badge will lead to a lot of travel from ppl that "want that badge". The second not directly mentioned point is, small city = fewer portal = funny situations if you get more agents into the city than portals 🤣
If only they would choose something in areas that will likely never seen an anomaly. the closest anomaly to my area ever is an 8 hour drive. The Dakota's, Montana, and Wyoming need something we can host so we don't have to drive over a thousand miles round trip just to participate in something. We've tried for the field tests, we have ideas for mission days, but I dont have high hopes for that happening either when the entire state population is less than a major city

1 city per country? So glad you chose somewhere central to south east England. Won't be attending this.

Leave out the final dot in the url and it will work.
There will be a badger, it would be great of you can make it :)
Well, our local council have applied for city status once or twice, maybe this will strengthen their next application ;)
We hope to see you in town city (shhhh) soon ;)
We look forward to welcoming those of you that can make it to Ipswich for the upcoming Field Test.

thank you for the list
We have a few question:
will this event come with a scanner medal?
will there be any related swag in the store later?

Let's hope next round there will be a bit more inclusion of small cities

It's testing new mechanics and metrics. We don't know what they will or won't benefit. But it makes sense to test things small scale first.

Si, tendrá medalla 😭😭😭
If it is predominantly a portal-discovery/data-mining activity, playing in areas that see less activity and lower portal density makes more sense. 📡

@NianticThomas When will the POC's get contacted? Any time frame you guys can give it to us?
