One point per Glyph sentence. If the Portal is already a level 8, you get one point for doing the 5 Glyph sentence. If it is a Portal of the opposite faction and you knock some resos off it to a L6 Portal and Glyph it, you'll get another point for doing the 5 Glyph sentence.
Any order or level. You can start with the 5 glyph sentence, do the 1 glyph sentence, do the 4 and then the 2 and then the 3. But I'd seriously question your methodology :)
This is much harder than the unique hack challenge, because this requires you to sit at a portal, which must have been neutral or enemy-controlled, for 10 minutes per portal to get all 3 points. With the unique hack challenge you could just (regular) hack and then move on.
it makes no sense that u only get 1 point if u complete a p8 glyph hack and same if u glyph a lvl 1 portal, ? Are u supposed to upgrade each portal 3 times wow... thats gonna take alot of time to even unlock the first 100 tier medal... I dont really like too stand to long on same portal when im out, i rather be on my move etc but this seems that u will want sit more and glypgh ugh..
I have been keeping up with what's available there and on Reddit.
Aurora is coming for the glyphs, etc.
I had assumed I'm missing something because this challenge appears to be an overly-tedious reuse of the prior UPH challenge that just so happens to require glyph hacking this time around.
This isn't the fun kind of challenge - this is the grind.
Since I don't think anyone has asked this yet: the MORE, LESS, COMPLEX, and SIMPLE control glyphs have no effect on whether an agent earns a "first try" point or not, correct?
I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to focus on portal clusters, thus I have multiple cool downs going at once. The hack challengs, on the other hand, was just insane since I had to visit 750 portals, and physically hurt myself while doing it because of all the walking.
So our level 8 farm we built up and is used by one faction will get glyphed and slot knocked down by a single opposing agent so no one else gets the benefit of it being level 8 and if an agent starts at o build it back up no one else will get the benefit of it being level 1 and 2.
Yeah, the unorganized portal-dense scenario is a bit of its own hell mode for this. Seems like it would be easier by far to just gun for the 1,000 hack option.
How about an indicator on each portal telling us how many points we've earned from it so far? 5 star system. Stars 1-5 would be lit up depending on which glyph lengths we had score so far?
An individual scanner achievement medal can also be earned if players successfully earns 100, 500, or 1000 total challenge points during the event. There will be a new event metric enabled in scanners for the duration of the event to track how many points you have earned during this challenge.

I’m interested to see what new glyphs come out of this...

For the bronze? Yes. 1000 L1 Portals for the gold medal. You have 11 days to do it. Go go!!
Assuming you have enough heatsinks to spam to reset cooldowns, sure.
Otherwise that's "only" 334 portals at 10 minutes per portal.
I assume you haven't been keeping up on the going ons of Nemesis and specifically Aurora. You might want to check this out: https://community.ingress.com/en/categories/investigate
It's wonderfull. Just another freak event :\
So coveted rural L7 portals are either worth one point max or need to be destroyed and rebuilt giving up the rare higher level portals?
Gross. Just gross. This hurts the folks in rural areas, probably the worst badge for the folks in rural areas, ever.
Will we get a sneak peek at the individual Medals before or when the event officially kicks off @RedSoloCup? 😏
Either redacted or prime, rigth?
So don't upgrade using an r8 until after you have successfully done the 4 sequence glyph if you want a chance at the 5th point?

I love a challenge and I love the idea of a glyph hack challenge, but there are so many things wrong with this one I don't know where to start.
This really doesn't look good for rural players, low levelers, and 9&5ers. Challenges shouldn't be easy but they shouldn't be impossible either.
Edit. And they shouldn't be overly complicated.
I have been keeping up with what's available there and on Reddit.

its’s goijg to be time consuming unless you have enough green heat sinks to drop on every portal to initiate the next hack...

I don't like this challenge at all, at those thresholds....
High frequency of such clusters would certainly make this easier.
In my area, I have a gut feeling this is going to encourage a lot of cargress down the main strips and driveby glyphing due to lack of such clusters.
I always set low expectations 🤠

Can new glyphs be introduced to this challenge? So that the people using those glyphing apps can't cheat and have to learn how to glyph properly!
Agent Smith should get more friends.

Correct
@RedSoloCup I sure hope that Niantic will be generous with the flip cards, because I have a feeling that they will be required in some areas.
