It's becoming a ghost town for Ingress in many areas. Just a handful of players left. When they decide to pull the plug many people will just switch over to one of the other games that doesn't require driving and there's actual teams that play. All they use is Ingress for now is to help build their other games. I'm not sure they even care about Ingress.

But that doesn't mean he's going to invest a ton of money into it, if it can't show promise of return.

And not once did they surpass them in later years.
Well, the numbers came back a bit in 2017-2018, but the users and accounts don't match the numbers, but PGO players get red-faced and angry when I point that out.
From that point of view, the total number of users will continue to decrease in all games, so there might be a small increase in India, but more than that, there will be a decrease in players in developed countries.
Also, it's going to be hard for Niantic's games to spread in India with the mainstream smartphone low-specs.
It is estimated that there are currently around 700 million smartphone users in India.
But a good percentage of their smartphones have specifications below even the entry level of smartphones in developed countries.
If we really want to see widespread adoption in India, we need to program a Snapdragon 21x with 3GB of RAM that runs lightly and has adequate graphics.
But in reality, these will work with lower quality graphics, but not at a satisfactory level.
Sure pokemon has lost alot of players over the years but there are still so many left its still their nr.1 game in terms of revenue so no worries there that the game will die off anytime soon.

Ingres died. There are no Smurfs left in my city. In many cities there is not a single frog left, and somewhere has been empty for years.

Ingress is not a game that requires walking.
It is a game that requires movement.
Players move in the way that best suits them at the time.
If you are downtown, you will definitely walk.
If you are in a park with bike lanes, bike is the way to go.
If you want to quickly overrun a suburban stronghold, use a car.
For anomalies, mission days, and large operations, head there by plane, ship, or rail.
That's all there is to it.

Ingress lived quite well in Russia before the shutdown. New players came, held various meetings, organized OPS, traveled to other cities :)
The topic about spoofers and Niantic's inactivity came from here, from Moscow.
We played Ingress before the innovation of idiotic links under the fields (that's exactly what discouraged many people to continue playing).
And even both factions have already covered the capital of Russia with their fields after disabling Ingress :)

Depends on market. My box is insane. It's almost as much action in a week than smaller anomalies.
