Isn't it obvious? The reward was that machina is decaying so everyone can go back out and BAF without complaining for the next 30 days (Res thanks you for this)
Personally I'm looking forward for the increase of posts in the sitreps folder.
Oh you mean that series where Enl won more overall than Res, but Nia decided last minute to make it winner takes all on the VERY last one with a little Calvin ball thrown in with the Bus media? The last one where Res now had their special item remaining while Enl didn't, and the circumstances around Enls item being used were suspicious?
I see. Funny how now that Enl is winning b2b2b they don't do anything.
Permanent or semi-permanent rewards that force the other team to see it regularly are the best rewards. Very much matters, especially if they want people to keep going to anomalies.
and funny they didn't do anything at the start with RES winning anomalies
Jeez, care so much about an open narrative game where winning doesn't improve the game's story. You're talking about the lenses that ENL used prior to the event? They picked the anomaly to choose it in...
I swear this is the only place to hear your same faction complain after the fact.
WOW! Still crying over Chicago anomaly? Sheesh. Resistance were outnumbered and won with superior strategy. Your faction has won a bunch since then. Why still so salty?
Do you really win anything in this game? I don't even tell people there's a scoreboard because nobody cares. If you win you get nothing. If you lose you get nothing. Why should anomalies be any different?
Using the Lens in Amsterdan when a loss was already guaranteed isn't suspicious to you? Hmm. Lens would have given Enl the win at Chicago even with the bs that was the UPH and media circus.
Res won due to handy-wavy numbers around unique portal hacks and winner takes all for that. Completely un-verifiable.
Buses full of agents driving around hacking unique portals, hacking media. Yeah, completely odd how that worked out. Some of us didn't even get to ride on the buses. We had to hoof it around using our very own two feet for our unique hacks. But again, we won with superior strategy. One of the very few times that less boots won an anomaly.
Read some of the quotes in this thread, people do indeed care. Which is why I'm saying these types of rewards definitely make a difference for players.
I'm fairly sure ENL thought they had Chicago as a certain win, and decided to use the Lens in Amsterdam to try and win the portal capture game. That's really not suspicious.
There's also a difference on the other two awards (Carrie's Journal and Hank Johnson's presence) . The Journal awarded Intel to ENL only.
Hank Johnson's presence spawned media on the surrounding portals, and wasn't limited to RES-only. ENL could also hack that media.
It was RES ingenuity that made the most use of that award to benefit RES and limit the benefit to ENL. RES also coordinated the use of the Lens more effectively.
Overall, sour grapes is what you have there. RES outplayed ENL in Chicago, devising and implementing a strategy to make to the most of the awards they had available. It required EVERYONE'S buy-in. The strategy alone would be useless if the agents on the ground didn't employ it. And it paid off.
Imagine why you might play any competitive sport. Do you do it for the trinket that symbolizes victory -- trophies, medals, etc. Or do you do it for what a victory represents, rather than the trappings?
Getting a team together, organizing it, keeping it united and on task, and then carrying out a plan which succeeds is a reward no trophy or badge will ever match. Succeeding versus other people *and the structure of the world itself* is a thrill that you can only get in a mobile games from Ingress. Utterly unique, and it is a triumph that you and every single one of your teammates who helped can share in.
Worrying over tokens from the gamemaster is fretting over mere baubles, when the pearl of great price is on the table: Playing with your agents for a win.
As someone who knows most of the people who attend events and help the Enlightened succeed, I don't believe I've seen you at an anomaly this year. Will you heed the call? Or will you stay here on this forum, crying when you could be helping?
Search for Ingress Abaddon Anomaly Chicago, IL on Reddit, and read the threads. Lots of unbiased information and biased information there from multiple sources including a good writeup by Drthod about scoring.
The rules were different than from before, both factions had special items that they used, some strategies were better than others. The team with the most boots on the ground did not win.

tl; dr
not relevant for retired founders, no worries.
Does anything Niantic does at this point make any sense? Didn’t think so. Keep scanning agent, they need more data…

That was going to happen no matter who won.
The unique badge was a one-off with Nemesis sequence. Never mentioned for any future sequences...
XM color? Does it matter
Glyph sequence? Never mentioned this series so...why?
Why you mentioning something that was done once in 2019?
Not to mention the current anomaly sequence doesn't end until Discoverie does, so even if there are "rewards", it's a little too soon to ask for them.

That's a moot point when the locations have been limited this year. The scanner's visuals will be the last thing to get me motivated.
Why can't Niantic sell ENL beacons since ENL won the anomaly again?
WOW! Still crying over Chicago anomaly? Sheesh. Resistance were outnumbered and won with superior strategy. Your faction has won a bunch since then. Why still so salty?
Oh please please do tell, what exactly made ENLs use of their Lens in Amsterdam suspicious?

He cried about the Brokers Guild in another post so this isn't surprising.

Perhaps our community manager will weigh in on this.

Yes being able to drive Hank around was totally not Calvinball and completely made anything but media and UPH irrelevant.

Hindsight and all that, right?

Your teammates need you on the field -- join us.
And where is box with info about shapers??? Give this info to us in media!!!!!
It was done once in 2019... so why do I keep seeing the glyph sequence in my scanner? It's old news, time to put it to bed now.
What happened at that anomaly? I think it was before my time.
Whoever answers, please try and do so unbiasedly.

One of my favorite memes from the Anomaly.
If there were more Enl boots on the ground as you keep spewing you should ask how Res won most UPH.
Knock those brain cells together and you'll figure out the answer.
