There's far simpler solutions to delivering things like this, except that that would require Niantic to do the work instead of relying on (while ignoring the existence of) factional organizational groups.
Generate 1 time use codes and email to those who participated. Doesn't seem very hard. Or heck, have it available in the store based on a simply account query. Takes time and coding away from their Machina goals I'm guessing.
That in addition to specific faction use passcodes, that QR scanning of passcodes is introduced, it is easy and quick to implement.
Thus by default, the PoCs have full control over who gets the passcode, generated for them in QR format, and therefore require in person scanning of the passcode.
Therefore such a mistake as accidental sharing of players that aren't on the faction, wouldn't be able to use them.

I ran across the two codes in Telegram, I had no idea they were anomaly when I redeemed them. Feel bad for any actual participant who missed out. And agree there should be a more secure delivery system.
They were posted to Vowel chat by an ENL agent, they were posted into more than one xfac IFS chats by multiple ENL agents, they were posted to Reddit by an ENL agent, then later Res Agents, they were posted to multiple xfac chats by ENL agents. Once agents started spreading it to xfac chats, it went everywhere. I saw them posted in xfac chats before I saw them hit Resistance chats. IWWC codes spread faster than the ENL codes did, but once your faction started sharing them, it was over. Blame Niantic for not developing a better way to distribute codes to one faction. Like they did those badges once upon a time. Then again, some agents back then, Faction Changed in order to get that badge. Soo...even then, likely it wouldn't be perfect. 🤣
I wonder how many ENL agents Faction Changed to Resistance to get that Osiris badge?

Or Enl should have treated those codes as opsec? thats not niantics fault
I don't know the full story of these leaking but apparently we had them before any final results. If this is true, I wonder if RES had the same codes.
Niantic probably should have done the loadout portals for these like they did in the past.
IF agent = Enlightened AND Echo badge = True, allow redeem.
This sort of logic is too hard to code.
Same thing for First Saturday Hypercube codes.... If you didn't participate in that month's FS, you shouldn't be able to redeem the code.

Stuff like this should be bound to factions, possibly even participants, with internal game logic.
