and 200 AP for hacking enemy portals
Looks like this was tweaked around 1300 EDT. I'm surprised it wasn't like this from the start 😂
EDIT: Niantic confirmed
Guess agents are having a hard time getting AP these days. I mean with all of the grey portals everywhere and all...
Lol, I don't quite get the point. Risking getting buzzed for an additional 100 AP?
I mean, it is nice.
But don't understand why the change?
shrug Maybe they decided that no-one has opponents any more so to get that bit of extra boost for new players in blank areas while waiting for portals to despawn, they can get points for hacking their own portals.
If only there were a feature that could be focused on imbalanced or low population areas to give extra 'opponents'.
Basically yet another "feature" no one asked for, no one wanted.
Now we get to watch all of those little L3 accounts finally level up...
Given that you already got 100AP for enemy portals, I wouldn't consider changing two constants a new 'feature'. Those "little L3 accounts" didn't exactly need this change and won't significantly be impacted by it.
Small change not sure what the reason is but extra ap for those that want it and hack alot is nice i guess.
My dude, this doesn't change the behavior of botters when they can level up with many different actions.
Maybe they will next just double the AP you can get for all other actions. I mean, we don't want to leave them out...
Between all the additional ap offered now and the ability to buy gear when needed this game has gotten ridiculously easy. Teammates aren't even required now to get gear.
People really can't be happy about anything
in before "why you defending Niantic?"
maybe so simple hacks are no more invisible and backpacks will show ap for this too
Surely the game is not what it once was 10 years is a long time how things has changed in this game, im happy the game is still alive so long .
It used to be hard to level up, to gain gear, to even make triangles. Now? Easy mode!
and back then we hardly had any portals...
This is why I have a super-powered Disagree stat 🤣
Thing is, the game was never about AP. Level 8 in 2013 could be done in under two weeks of regular (not pre-sculpted) play.
The difference in the game now is not the mechanics or the playstyle. The number of portals increased dramatically, while the number of players reduced, meaning that there were far more fully grey areas even in cities.
If we had that many portals with no opposition, in an area, we'd have been levelling up that fast too.
The only real difference in mechanics that affects levelling is Glyphing and Key Requests. And the average noob player both often doesn't know that exists, and also is no good at glyphing in the time it takes to get to level 8, so it's really only a 'power change' for people going for 16 or Recursions.
My first 16 took a year. My third 16 took 3 months. But it was primarily because I had a town full of grey portals, and the only opposition was a bored player who'd come through and **** everything every few days.
In Mid 2013 it took me almost a month to level up to 8. Not from lack of playing. Every dang portal was almost always blue. 🤣 At least the park behind my office with then 60 ish portals helped. But 4 hacks each, hoping for keys, didn't do a ton for fielding back then. Now that park stands at 150+ portals and with boosts and all the extras we get now, you could easily use just that park and hours of free time to level back to 8 without any prep work.
Talking about time to level to 16 after the first recursion is simply purely about AP gain and free time. Nothing else limits that goal. No pesky badges to gain.
I do like that it gives 100 AP for hacking a friendly portal, it makes sense. I had long discussions in this forum & I cant believe that Ingress Prime Team actually implemented it. Nicely done by Ingress Prime Team.
What I dislike is when you hack the enemies portal & you still get AP. That doesnt make sense to me.
No way I would allow my enemies to get AP from my portals, but I am willing to give AP to my friends.
