I haven't whined about this in a while... can we please recycle boosts?

HosetteHosette ✭✭✭✭✭

I currently have 98 useless-to-me Apex boosts clogging my inventory and the only way to free up that space is to use them. I'm planning to recurse later this year and I would dearly love to free up those inventory slots for something useful. No, I don't want double AP after or before I recurse. I don't want AP for using them. I don't want to waste my time using them until they're gone... I just want a way to recycle them quickly.

(Fire up your disagree buttons, boys and girls, but there really is no reason that players shouldn't be able to recycle things that they've purchased.)

I absolutely agree about inventory control, there is no good reason we should not be able to recycle any item in our inventory. This game includes inventory management as a key concept. You should not be forced to either hold or use an item. Just because it came with a purchase should not mean it must be used. We bought it, why not be able to recycle it if we so choose?

    Interesting take.

That's how boosts have been coded as any other premium item. The only alternative is perhaps Thia removing them from your account.

There should be a manual request to remove such premium items if u really want since u cant gift them either

smells like hypocrisy. you claim to get your ap from playing similarly as an agent that did not purchase anything.. well, did you always stop hacking when your inventory got past 2000 items? i'm guessing not, and having those extra items lets you get more ap by having more items available for your op. please stop this nonsense, thank you

Never the less, it seems that this is a problem for just a (very vocal) minority, and there exists working alternatives to get rid of those boosts, although it will "earn" the agent 500-1000 APs. Meanwhile deploying the first reso on a portal gives 675 points, and the first hack of the day 500 points, so deploying a boost and then ignoring it is basically neglible in the grand scheme of things, and personally I hope the dev team is working on something more important.

Sounds like someone is a core subscriber. Just remove the subscription and they will stop accumulating. It's a benefit of the program you signed up for.

You can recycle Kinetic capsules. You mostly have to purchase them these days....but you can recycle them...

So what you are saying, it is possible for Ingress to code the game so you can delete those items. Now, how do we request they implement it?

A second warning in red would be enough for me, but to make absolutely sure, Niantic could also have a three second cooldown before you can recycle them.

Alternativly, have it as a checkbox in the settings that unlocks the ability to recycle premium items, just like how they do it for mass transfers for rare Pokemon in Go.

  • HosetteHosette ✭✭✭✭✭

    @InvestigateXM Yes, absolutely!

Inventory management is a key component of Ingress, and I really don't see a good reason why people should be prohibited from efficiently managing their inventory for a class of items.

Have you ever reached out to @NianticThia about it? I mentioned it in a previous topic as her flex role allows her to access accounts to fix issues. She can remove the boosts from your account (as she has fixed people's accounts related to the original kcap).

  • HosetteHosette ✭✭✭✭✭

@MoogModular I've reached out to support and they said no.

Even if Thia could help once that still doesn't solve the general case of people wanting to manage their inventories.

It's the strange ingress purist mentality. One shouldn't get ap from things not actionable in game. If worried about stats being inaccurate you would think she would ask to have her illuminator stats fixed to show actual mu captured instead of an error with a glitched field. But that's ok and getting ap from a boost is bad. Makes no sense.

  • MoogModularMoogModular ✭✭✭✭✭

Even her purist argument has no holding.

We receive AP for glyphing, fireworks, recharging (the amount of AP has changed multiple times), beacons, and to top it all off the bonuses have changed on the AP you receive for deploying the first and last resonator on a portal or knocking a mod off a portal. l

This is perhaps one of the weirdest hills to d.i.e on, Hosette. I'm glad Thia laughed about it in a reply to you. You're really showing yourself as a Veruca Salt.

There will always be two types of agents: (a) complainers who always find problems and counter-arguments to the solutions presented to them; and (2) problem solvers who are resourceful and pivot when shown with challenges. It's already Spring 2023; time to move on and solve your problem, Baby Smurf.

@Otrera35 @MoogModular There will always be two kinds of people in discussions like this. One is people who discuss the issue being presented and the other is people who resort to making it personal. Thank you both for showing your colors.

I maintain that my request is simple and reasonable: I would like to be able to manage my inventory effectively and efficiently, including boosts.

  • Otrera35Otrera35 ✭✭✭✭

@Hosette , it seems the only solution you prefer is for Niantic to remove all your Apex from your account. Other agents probably have the same problem, but they were able to solve their inventory problems. Niantic is not an inventory-solving valet. There are other important issues here, such as spoofing and game latency, that need to be addressed. Kindly pivot and find a feasible solution to your inventory problem and make your team proud of what you can accomplish.
