I think it must be happening, saw a similar message in comm and the portals involved were Machina owned. So there is decay to neutral happening now and links are dropping. I wonder if there are any other unannounced changes to Machina behavior. I like that it is an evolving threat, and this change shows it's still being adjusted.
It's more likely that they saw an even further a drop in playing, and people dropping CORE subscriptions and thought, "S&!t, we probably should do something about this"
If machina was decaying wouldn't every area see these notifications? I'm not seeing anything. Is it possible that some of these portals had resos knocked off thus causing it to decay? Is that even a thing? There's very little machina even in my area, it's never been rampant like so many complain about.
Yes. The question did it go too far in the other direction to rightsize? In my box, the right balance is threaten established BAFs with more than a CP offline if an anchor gets taken down. It looks like semi perm BAFs can stay, keeping Q3 2022 status quo which was not desired either.
If it couldn't cross links we would all be posting about how big and productive our new link fenced Machina piñata farms are. We'd be sharing tips on how best to harvest them while keeping a healthy infection going.
It's so weird to see two extremes posted here, it's obviously something Niantic is testing and machina will definitely be back soon. Septicycles are about a week difference so I'm sure we'll see changes again soon.

Yes finally they seem to be decaying. Check Machina owned stats... Dropping rapidly.

Thank goodness, anyway.
Then let them fix the growth rate as well. In some cities, portals run out faster than new ones appear.

or it's part of the "story" since Saturday
which is good anyways
Please please please let them just go away.
Machina Portals are decaying rapidly.
Not seeing many to go take out, 😢
There has been a noticeable decay of machina portals and links in my playbox.

Too many Machina Portals have decayed.
Just gone from one extreme to the next.
We need more Machina Portals to appear.
I had a vague hope I might eventually get Onyx purifier - but it clearly isn't going to happen after all.
If it kept up, I might of been able to pull of purifier wings. Now we are down from 5+ million Machina portals late last week, to under 650k.
If the stuff would follow the basic no crossing links, it wouldn't of been so poorly received.
