Ingress 2.111.2 Release Notes [Discussion]

in General
What's new
- Agent Ops is a list of operations (or tasks) that can be completed for bounties. The first set of 6 ops is the HexQuest on Sat Mar 18.
- Variable AP is now awarded based on the amount of XM recharged. Boost recharge no longer grants only +10AP per recharge.
Bug fixes and other improvements
- Kinetic Capsules are now grouped by number of remaining uses.
- Fixed Auto Confirm Item Pickup when the Attack carousel is open.

Players are already asking when the task system will be active.
Which is a bit confusing.
The first items on this new feature will be active on March 18th
But the UI may be active before then
I might got couple of questions here.
These Agent OPS is that daily missions....kind off?
&
If you charge all or boost charge all, you get the same amount of AP?
You get the same AP no matter how you recharge + or - due to rounding
Just an example to make sure I understand it....
Lets say that I use "charge all" button to fill up the resonators & I spend 1000 XM, it would give me 1000 AP.
&
Lets say that I use "Boost charge all" button to fill up the resonators & I spend 1000 XM, it would still give me 1000 AP.
Did I understand it right?
Yeah
It is 1 ap per 100 XM charged, floored to the nearest 100. So if you charged 999 xm (according to the portal, not your XM bar, you'd still get 9 AP. I THINK however the minimum is 1 so if you somehow charge less than 100 ap it'll give 1 AP
I wonder if Agent Ops will be used for Second Sundays
I wonder if Agent Ops will include a method for tracking Sojourner.
Will be a good dry run before the actual hexquest event. Though it depends how fast the new version is released globally.
Base on my experience, the new version takes around 3-4 days before it's available in my region.
For 999 XM you get 9 AP, and yes you always get at least 1 AP.
Seems a bit petty not to at least round to the nearest integer.
My bad, updated my post. I can't math apparently lol
I think that program has now been scrapped, but for several months, up until about 6 months ago, Niantic was exploring a cross-game community day by holding a Niantic Community Day.
So I don't know if that would be the same day as Second Sunday or fit another day, but it is possible that Hexathlon could be a monthly event along with the new tiered medals.
Also, this could be set up with an annual leaderboard to titillate some ingress agents' sense of honor, like the PvP battles in Pokemon GO.
Both 2.110.* releases had a bug when that ops button is pressed scanner hang or force-closed(crash without any visible warnings). Is it okay in 2.111.2? Still haven't update in store to have a look.
By the way 2.110.* also had high battery consumption if scan and "upload now",seems i have battery issue so regular scan ate battery quick enough but can work without powerbank, and scan upload lead to momental(less than minute) discharge to zero if w/o powerbank/charger connected. Haven't checked is other phone affected.
"Agent Ops" is not "Intel Ops". It's the system coming out to support Hex Quests on the 18th.
Agent ops will probably be tied to hexquest.
A lot of these things Brian Rose has talked about.
Key difference between pogo and Ingress is that pogo is foremost a PvE game and Ingress is PvP
The pogo team have continued to push for PvP elements and mostly failing
Whereas Ingress being foremost PvP, integrating PvE elements is difficult, and for players might not be the type of game they want to play, so it is largely optional.
Ingress already has a Leaderboard of top agents, by Mind Units Captured, as this is the only real metric that matters.
However, I am sure that the Ingress devs will discuss throughout the year how they can utilize the Task system in a way to achieve more.
For example, on site First Saturday's. These are community days for Ingress.
Second Sunday, can be done anywhere and can be done solo.
But there is no reason why Agent Ops will list Second Sunday Events as tasks sometime in the future
If they do Second Sunday beyond missions, definitely can see the menu used. Similar to the task list for last year's EOS event, achieve a minimum amount of points to receive credit for Second Sunday.
I didn't mean to refer to IntelOps at all.
I think you misunderstood something.
I was merely referring to the possibility of HexaQuest becoming a regular event for individual achievements, like the Field Tests and Hexathlons that used to take place in the past.
If it is successful, it could be incorporated as a monthly event, and it would not be a bad idea to have an annual leaderboard in the aggregate.
Because, First Saturday has a leaderboard. And even at Anomaly once we receive an email to see what percentage of the total we are in.
Some people don't respond to this at all, but for those who do, it is a great honor.
And focusing on individuals rather than groups makes it easier to organize the cross-game community day that Niantic was exploring last year.
Android user here, I just got the update today and now can't find the task icon. Has it been hidden till rollout, or do I have an issue?
Hidden until rollout I believe.
Well done to Ingress Prime Team.
The rework of the "Boost Charge All" works very well & I love it.
Available March 18th.
I can understand that compass and layer icons were changed from transparent to dark circle in some aspects of visibility. I prefer old transparent ones. But:
Why both are in that position? I mean,i'd move them right, closer to right screen edge.
And just noticed xm bar is moved from left edge, the same question "why"?
Wonder if that could be attributed to UI scaling issues?
