Totally lost in control of the Machina links
I would like to bring NIA's attention to the current situation of red links: they can have a positive effect because they make the intel more "lively", giving the player time to face the opponent when they go to cross the fileds, unfortunately many areas where no player lives and Machina links take a long time to decay, some have been up for months...
Is it possible to DRASTICALLY accelerate the natural decay of Machina links? the object of the game would be to make fileds, and it is one thing to give one faction time to deal with the other when it destroys an enemy field, it is quite another thing to hinder projects in areas where no one plays.
Thanks

Yes the game is ruined now because of machina.
Machina spreading should be refine a bit, for sure. I'd welcome them to deal with, and find hardly any. The most recent red crystals sat here in a few portals indecisively for a week before the very first link 🤷
Your intel problems are not Machina's fault. My advice is to watch carefully.
The problem ate not the Machina Portals but the links….if machina cross my fields e Res destroy this is not a problem: I’m organised, I can found someone to help me or I destroy it……unfortunately in some area are not presents players, and if I make 100 kilometres to destroy the links they born again in same area the day after….the problem are not link where someone play, the problem is that the red link where no one play….
if Macchina links born but no one destroy it in one week (max) they would have to disappear because both is pulling new fields and to the birth of new players
You know already that new players do not behave like that.
Ingress Prime Year 10's slogan should be, "We don't care about triangles!"
At this point, why not let Machina just make triangles and be done with it.
Not sure where they are going with this, silence from niantic and soon i saw it peaks at 4 milion portals the red controls...
It's a Player vs Environment element now. Adapt
This game is not a PvE game though. If that is the case then get rid of the two factions and just have it be Players Vs Bot.
All will be revealed in a few weeks.
Either you have information the rest of us don't have or you are high on hopium...
April anomaly will explain a LOT, or better.
Source for that?
Has to. Otherwise player base gets not just predictably grumbly again but open rebellion grumbly. Red is draining the morale in certain boxes.
Hopium it is then
Hope, there is nothing else.
*Speculation*
We have got strong indications of what the ingress devs are up to, and we know the XMAs and Vanguards are, or supposed to be, finding bugs with the upcoming task system, prior to launch between March 11th and March 18th
This surmises that the Ingress devs are likely moving ingress to more PvE than PvP.
Discussions I have personally had with players from other games, is that many aren't interested in Ingress, they understand that it is primarily a PvP game, but would prefer to be lone wolf/PvE.
Presumably the ingress devs have done similar surveys/discussions with various players, and believe that Ingress could ENcourage new players to the game with PvE elements.
Machina works for those who wish to play that way, nd also for many areas where there isn't enough of an opposition.
The general concensus, Machina Faction is a great addition, but needs to follow the same linking rules as real players on the Resistance and Enlightened.
There are some who also want Machina to do micro fielding.
Micro fielding with Machina, may also be in the works, as we've seen it's behavior is to deliberately not make fields, presumably the Ingress devs will work on this through the rest of the year, as the scoreboard will need an overhaul to support Machina micro fielding.
That's a lot of speculation and hope that you seem to be passing of as facts in other comments.
A task system is not a switch to PvE, it's merely another thing to keep players engaged. That could be achieved with or without Machina.
Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away... A slew of players bound together to spam the forums with complaints about how linking under fields was unfair. To implement this change was game breaking and that anyone who agreed with this useful new change wasn't skilled, didn't understand how to play the game, and should go out to anchors of megafields or recruit someone nearby the anchors, to take them down.
My my, how the tables have turned. Who would win... A couple humans who have the ability to travel, explore, and recruit other humans? Or one red AI boi?
As we've known all along, these same folks were just sitting on their hands, popping keys out of their (now gone) quantum capsules to inaccessible portals, and claiming their strategy and skill was beyond that of their opposition. All of a sudden there's a problem when they find out they need to get out and take care of a stray link or two.
So sad, I feel major empathy for you in this new struggle. But that's none of my frogging business:
We just know more and more what Ingress has planned.
This is why I am literally spelling out that what is highly likely to happen, is just speculation.
All the way back to
https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/20790/speculation-ingress-new-quest-system-q1-2023#latest
The fact is that Brian Rose intended regardless of the outcome of Epiphany Dawn Los Angles in November 2022, Machina was going to be live.
If the intention was to pursue the wider PvP gameplay, the task system would be the way forward, Machina isn't necessary for that.
Therefore we can speculate that the intention is a move for PvE working alongside PvP
To answer your opening post in that thread:
From this one line of text
1) We have a potentially announced location for an Anomaly
2) There is a big feature coming to the Ingress Scanner Courtesy of IQTech. Quests/Tasks/Bounties
3) The Anomaly will also have local Hexathlons in other regions
1) Wrong
2) Right
3) Wrong
Seems your deduction skills need some work.
That said: you can speculate all you want, just don't go around pretending it's facts.
Lets both hope that I am wrong on PvE side of things.
However seeing as there are now 2 topics on the same thing, and a sudden increase in Machina activity lately, it sure does look like a setup for predominant PvE gameplay
There being 2 topics about it being out of control/bad doesn't seem to support your claim it's general consensus is positive.
And the increase in Machina is a result of it's implementation as a virus-like spread, which may or may not be what Niantic initially intended... (Ie. They might have expected agents to contain it, but if COVID thought us anything...)
@XQlusioN We shall see.
In 3 weeks
hate to see ingress turn into a pve game thats not why i play
I still stand by my views and consider linking and fielding under fields to be a step backwards.
I'm now clearing machina to do fields in my own area, but long links are now much more difficult.
Quantum caps gone? I can go get keys and was never vehemently against removal. The main issue is people had too many. One per person would have been ok.
He never said it was fact...
One of my frustrations with red links is that they occur in infrequently played areas. If this happened during the summer I'd be all over this. But it's winter, and many of the parks are closed. Or they would be a bit too risky for me to navigate in less favorable conditions. Also, some remote areas have portals in areas with no cell phone coverage for one or more of the carriers.
This past weekend I finally killed a long standing L8 red portal in an envirornmental area (park) that I promised never to visit again. Last time I visited the area (doing a mission, so had to finish it) ... I was ankle deep in mud, attacked by prickers, and fell flat on my face because of the challenging terrain. This time it was a little better, but I got to a point where I couldn't safely proceed any further. Fortunatley I was close enough where I could take it down.
So I have some concerns.
Should these be portals in the first place? Food for thought.
Because someone is struggling with ankle deep mud? How do you imagine that would work over in the wayfarer forums. Out there snapping photos on a rainy day just getting portals removed left and right, lol….
