Machina, are you all right?
My hometown Incheon, South Korea. has intl' airport nearby Seoul.
the reds are such like COVID-19
they disrupt our activities, spread and infect rapidly even ppl eliminate them.
ppl get trouble for play game, we can't handle their infection without burning a lot of gas everyday.
does NIA want to us make only tiny honeycombs by walking?
what is meaning of this game for now?
The game is just more dynamic than before.
You don't have to drive everywhere, if you don't have to.
Much like if there was super active players in your area, then you'd have to play around them.
There is also a PvE task system coming up at MZFPK Anomaly.
As for what the tasks will be after the Anomaly, I do not know
There's a difference though. Machina is not "another player". It isn't subject to the game rules as we are. You can't contain it, fence it off, clear it and link in the hopes of keeping your lanes clear.
It does look like its a bit aggressive in many areas, if real players will stop due to crazy npc faction is that what niantic wants ? not everyone has time to travel hours to clear blocks to field some.. seems counter productive in the long run..... and still no badge to hunt red which is alot in many cities..
in case of my city, their infection speed had got over through critical point. area of territory is large, there are so much of portals, insufficient number of agent.
we can't waste several hours and gas everyday for maintain clean map.
I think multiplication algorithm needs some modify. they are fast too much.
Nicely done by Ingress Prime Team...I love it.
The Machina should be the dominate of this world. This brings unbalance to this game. It is up to us as agents to hit back & bring balance to this game.
Lovely part is that it also increases the collisions. It feels more like pvp, except we are up against a computer.
I love it, I wish I was their.
I'm enjoying the red portals. It's a great addition to the game. Gives people something to do when there is no opposition. Easy to take down and leaves gear behind. Not a big game changer but enough to keep some interest.
I agree, the ability to link across existing links should not be a feature.
That would enable containment
I am trying to understand what you are saying.
Let me try to explain what you are saying...You are saying that red shouldnt be able to link & cross the blue line?
I am actually surprised to see that red & green has captured portal inside blues field. I just noticed that & that shouldnt be allowed according to me.
Yes, I am of the firm opinion that red links shouldn't be able to cross any other links. We players are subject to this rule, but Machina is not. It is causing more and more problems because there is nothing you can do against it.
And yes, you can capture portals under fields. That has never been restricted nor should it be. The restriction was that you couldn't create links from portals that are under existing fields. Niantic has lessened that restriction, and allows links up to 500m to be created under fields. They increase the range on occasion for events, like anomalies.
What about all the people who do have competition locally...
Many people enjoy this game with not only walking around their home, but they make satisfy for their desired to expand by throw links in while commute. someone exchange keys with their friends for link each's town. they will get excited when make nice field eventually from unintentional link when moving by bus, car and city train.
At fist, Effects of reds were considered not bad. machina had their stuffs with shape of bundle, they are similar to a real players who gaming around their home by walking. that was not bad. so far, human agents were able to enjoy game with their way
a month later, Machina conquered almost of portals except player owned, the red **** connected with links among all of red portals, it seems tangled weed that has size of metro city.
this is zoomed version of map I attached on top, it's only a little piece of my city. can you control this swarm?
not only is it not easy to gaming by walking, but it has become impossible to play games on the bus while commuting. it's also impossible to interact with friend from the next town, no matter how much agents clean gap of two towns, machina fills the gap in jusy several days.
when I did similar cleanup work for throw a long link, that's the moment reach the target anchor with travel little bit long distance, I noted machina multiplied and threw an x-link while I moving, it was happened in 10 minutes!
I think this game is no longer fun, it seems that all contents that can be enjoyed has disappeared. we are able to only making tiny honeycomb by walking.
my friends isolated in their own town because of awful machina swarm.
And now, I wonder why this game maintain a scoreboard
Ingress is field competition game. isn't it?
machina is a failed update. The name of this game should be changed to Red Dot Attack.
Yeah it's gotten out of hand - nobody in their right mind would attempt to clear the area south of where I live, it's just overrun completely by red and would require 100's of $ of fuel to clear.
@NianticBrian We like the concept but it's waaaay too aggressive.
I think the purpose itself was good, but I think it is rather interfering with normal game play due to the speed of disregarding the game rules and spreading. I think some modifications to the red faction are necessary.
Areas with no gameplay have many red portals. It's red because there's no turnover. When a new player starts up they have easy ap to take them down. They are working as they are supposed to. Areas that have turnover don't have them. Looks fine to me
the reds wrapping tightly active players' area, because of this each players can't communicate each other no longer. people in this region has begin explode their discontent.
I completely lost interest with this game. people won't spend gas, cost for public transport and their time for against tireless and costless bot.
enjoying single player game on my sofa will be better than this meaningless activities. I am not robot what make links what have same shaped bunch repeatedly.
MACHINA is an overly restrictive element that ruins the game
Just the end of big fields without any clean to do.
When a dedicated crew whose sole job is to stomp red portals out of existence is now critical to a box, and gives use to x5-x6 which only had use as pick off singles or low level portals until three months is a combo upgrade. Small upgrade, but certain boxes need more trashcans.
Come springtime this situation may get worse.
Closer look on the picture, I do understand why players are complaining the way Red Team/machina is acting.
The way the Red team/machina is acting is weird. I think it is a good thing the expansion, but stick to the rules & the primary goal which is Mind Units.
Red team/machina needs to create its own fields & expand 1 by 1. The way it has expanded with links only frustrates players.
Dont get me wrong, I do like that it has been very active, but it has to be fields, not lines and links.
Machina is like a spoofer, but worse. Why do many agents quit playing Ingress? Because of spoofing. So Niantic's big idea is to bring something like a spoofer, but allows it to cross links? Great idea Niantic. <sarcasm> That will bring more players into the game. </sarcasm> All the cr4p on the ground from destroying even some portals, that surely won't slow the game down any (*cough lagg*), right?
1 Machina portal dumps on the ground
Or basically 16 to 20 items per portal.
It's not just infecting areas with no activity, it appears to just randomly pop up on uncaptured portals, even in areas where players often are active.
You just notice it more in quiet areas as it grows due to nobody killing it.
I can see the reasons why it might be a good thing in places where there are few players or no competition, but the speed at which it’s growing and the ability to cross links just makes it hard to deal with even for active players and regions.
I spent a few hours fielding a few nights ago and had a link sprout up midway, blocking my path to the anchor and by the time I got home, one more link had already crossed the apex.
Could it just be toned down somewhat or at least the ability to cross links removed? There’s only so much time and fuel one wants to spend on them in exchange for some mods.
REQUESTING RED FLIPCARD
Or smth to summon
Machina spreading seems to have gotten out of hand lately. Been watching some annoying links nearby stuck on a handful of red portals at 5% XM since last weekend. They should have decayed by now but most of those portals are still at 5% remaining XM after waiting for 60 hours. A few upgraded and are back at 25%. If I'm not mistaken red portals used to decay daily by 5%. It feels like Niantic changed something regarding this which is getting out of hand rapidly.
red portals no longer decay to the point of neutralization. I found this out after waiting two weeks for a 5km link to die that was between two trail portals that would take roughly two hours to walk to each. Seems like a good way to get what little player base we still have to also quit the game.
omg that would be fun
I have cancelled my core subscription because of machina. The red stuff interferes with game play in such a way that strategic playing/planning is no longer possible. If the Red stuff did not have the ability to cross links, i might reconsider my opinion of it. As it is, it is incredibly annoying and I wonder whether anyone at niantic actually plays ingress.
