The MZFPK XM Event will take place on Saturday, 18 March globally. We believe each Agent accessing their Scanner between 00:00 and 23:59 local time will receive a set of six (6) operations – a structure known as HexQuest – from K, under a new “Agent Ops” screen:
The tasks will be:
Trek 6 km
Complete 60 hacks
Deploy 60 Resonators
Deploy 16 Mods
Earn 60 Glyph Points
Destroy 24 Resonators
These operations will expire at 23:59 local time.
Agents completing all six (6) operations by 23:59 local time will earn the in-app MZFPK Anomaly medal. The Faction with a higher number of Agents completing all six (6) tasks will capture the MZFPK XM Event. If the Resistance wins, Jarvis goes to Zürich. If the Enlightened win, he goes to Berlin.
Additionally, the Roland Jarvis 2023 Loadout Kit and Ollie Lynton-Wolfe 2023 Loadout Kit will be added to the in-game Store, available for purchase, limited to 1 per Agent.
On XM Anomalies
NIA Researchers have so far detected anomalous XM signals around the globe through the end of 2023. These have been classified into three (3) Anomaly Seasons as follows:
While the MZFPK Anomaly medal can be earned globally by completing the HexQuest. Echo, Ctrl, and Discoverie Anomaly medals will only be obtainable by interacting with Portals in selected Anomaly Sites in particular ways.
On NL-1331 Tours
NL-1331X is on the road again, and will be at SXSW on Sat, 11 March 2023 in Austin, TX. Exclusive SXSW Swag will be available. Hacking the NL-1331 Portal on 11 March between 00:00 to 23:59 will earn 1 increment towards the NL-1331 Meetups medal.
The NL-1331 Tour is also returning to locations beyond North America. Stay tuned for the exact schedule.
On Ingress Mission Days
Mission Day Ome, JP, postponed from 2020, has been rescheduled to Sun, 19 March 2023. We will open the application form for 2023 Mission Days soon.
As always, please remember to be aware of your surroundings. We encourage players to follow local health and safety guidelines when playing Ingress (such as wearing masks and maintaining at least six feet/two meters of distance from other people). For the latest on in-game events and feature updates, be sure to check COMM > NEWS.
I really hope Rotenburg an der Fulda is a typo and it actually supposed to be Rothenburg ob der Tauber cause Rotenburg a.d.F. seems like a terrible choice in any way one looks at it. There are basically no accommodations in the town. Also 170 portals in the city/town centre having multiple players on each portal without moving surely must be fun then. If you manage to come to that town that is in the middle of nowwhere
Will it be a possibility to place battle beacons and gain the anomaly badges of Echo, Ctrl and Discoverie that way? Just like with Epiphany Dawn and Superposition?
Not everyone has the funds to travel across a continent or two for three times a year :)
U need be onsite for the badge, how it will work nobody knows as no details yet but its only the global badge that u can do anywhere in march, for the rest u need travel for specific badges.
It is intentionally made easy, as it is the first foray into a task based event in a very long time, especially where the task system is being implemented.
It's been so long since I went for a badge, I can't remember ... do I have to register 1st or does niantic just track where you were and where you ended during that time period?
This Anomaly event does not need registration. Time is based on your cell timezone. You have until 11:59:59 PM local time Saturday to complete all the events to get the badge.

Tasks yay!
Talk about super simple. Play the game for three minutes and earn a badge.
If you can trek 6 kilometers in 3 minutes, you should stop wasting your time with Ingress and try out for the Olympics.
I really hope Rotenburg an der Fulda is a typo and it actually supposed to be Rothenburg ob der Tauber cause Rotenburg a.d.F. seems like a terrible choice in any way one looks at it. HexQuest – from K, under a new “Agent Ops” screen:
Confirms a task task system will be live on the day
Seems risky.
Surely, a couple days before to ensure no unforeseen issues are captured early and fixed prior to the event would be better
True, I think I'll just get that one by going to the grocery store since you earn trekker without even playing now.
The 170 portals worry me less than the infrastructure of this town.
Anyway can someone from Niantic please confirm this before we start booking those few hotel rooms there?
I work on Saturdays. Guess I finally have an excuse to enable adventure sync for the trekking part. I can do everything else on the afternoon.
The return of Primary and satellite sites!
Looking forward to things ahead

Since German rural areas are known for bad mobile connection did anyone checked how it works there?
Will it be a possibility to place battle beacons and gain the anomaly badges of Echo, Ctrl and Discoverie that way? Just like with Epiphany Dawn and Superposition?

Why Bandung, Indonesia again? The last time Bandung was choosed for Nemesis :Myriad, Battle beacon Kureze and kythera
In Indonesia not just Bandung
I am from Rotenburg an der Fulda and my FS enligthtment Orga member also, But we have no information, online the online the news.

Try to contact your local community, anomaly on site. Is not always on site. Can be via recharge, intel dispatch. but this old system before pandemic.
Neither of those are official sources
In Ingress, it is important to move.
That will always remain the case.
And if you can't go onsite, you can contribute to the ENL or RES by being the operator.
but it is what it is the city is chosen for a reason
6km trek is a bit harsh for disabled agents.
Indeed, I have the same concerns about this too.
As well as how rural players are going to be able to take part. Are they just going to flip the same 2 portals over and over again?
Drive 'em around in a vehicle. I get about 2 km distance in Ingress just driving to work in the mornings (with adventure sync on).
It's not even a complete kcap worth of distance.
If you're in a city a Local ( slow) bus will get the job done.
Niantic has made this global anomaly pretty easy to take part in. Any easier and people will complain about it being too easy.
It is intentionally made easy, as it is the first foray into a task based event in a very long time, especially where the task system is being implemented.
This article has now been updated with a fancier banner and the badge
its a nice badge :) cube in a cube
