Kinetic programs are extremely biased toward building rather than destroying. You can make level 8 resonators and very rare Shields but you cannot make ultra strikes or bursters that can defeat them. It also takes approximately bursters to **** an unshielded level 8 resonator. It may take 8 or 10 direct hit ultra strikes (or 20 xmp) that duped in a qc to destroy two very rare Shields that were made in a kc. Unless this imbalance is addressed there will be more Perma Fields than ever before and more people quitting from boredom.
It is believed that the recipe for making XMP8 can be made by expanding the kinetic program.
But to be clear about these things, Niantic wants to get to where the P8 portals are, or to have everyone work together to create them, and for people with disabilities, they want everyone to help and work together.
This may not be very clear to new players, especially those who come from a specific gaming background, but Niantic's approach has not changed over the past 10 years.
The CEO has also made it clear that he has no intention of making games for people who stay inside their homes.
I'm really surprised that it was decided to retire QCs without a concrete plan for Kinetic Capsules to take their place going forward. I took it for granted that it was replaced by a program that could duplicate keys in some fashion, so I didn't mind the idea of losing QCs too much, but without the ability to duplicate keys, a huge point of the game seems lost to me. It doesn't matter too much for those who just play in cities, I suppose, but I primarily hike and ski to get to tough portals. That's what the point of the game is to me - exercising and discovering new places - not just **** away in a city. And it's really hard to get keys to those places without duplicating them. So I'm a bit disappointed with this.
Please consider making a program soon. Otherwise, I suspect you'll have rampant cheating to get to those places and farm keys, and you might also lose honest players in the meantime.

Quantum capsules fulfill this perfectly, but there is talk of Kinetic capsules having this function. Not sure how this would work, as Kinetic caps require items to be sacrificed before it will create new items
And also removes items/accounts from the game even if temporarily, thereby reducing lag making it better for everyone else.
I never understood the lag comment and it makes zero sense. Duplicating stuff in QC is a once a day ran database batch job. If amount of items was really the cause, why did they add machina portals that when destroyed will drop around 10-20 items.
the recharge or deploy lag spikes are still there, I've missed a number of UPCs when going to places i won't be returning to because despite me pressing deploy it didn't happen until 10-30 seconds later when the portal was already out of range.
this isn't an item duplication problem, this is just **** code problem, I'm guessing whatever stuff nia stole from Google when separating has finally started to break and nobody remaining on the team knows how to fix it. of course that's partially a Google's problem for choosing a niche programming environment for this but hey, it also made sure that there's been almost no progress in core gameplay of ingress.
Ingress never got the new servers because the community whined harder about no new features after Prime so it still runs on a core of spaghetti code wrapped in efficient lightship elements.
Ah yes, because I always have time to go running off to a random portal somewhere, hang around for 20 minutes just to get 4 hacks in which may or may not give me any keys at all, and then wait 4 HOURS to attempt getting more. /s

Key duplication is easy. Walk to the portal, start a glyph hack, and use the More command.
Alternatively, put existing keys in a capsule and tap hack again.

inefficient code is easy to fix, just do it. but it requires actual skills to do so.
If all portals I cared about were within reasonable walking distance, I would see absolutely no point with this game at all.

The rest will be about when the new program will be implemented.
It is conceivable that it will probably be after February 1, when the campaign ends.
