Dating Agents from different factions working together wrong

At what point is it recommended a player from a faction switch factions when they are dating and working together? Example is one agent neutralized a portal and then the other fills it up fields.

Either one stops playing, or one switches factions is what I think should happen. Seems like a method of cheating.

The number of people I know or have known that met in Ingress on opposite factions is quite a lot.

Only a couple ever changed factions, and wasn't because of their partner.

It isn't an issue, and both know how to keep opsec for their own factions

    "It depends."

I think it depends on how often they do it and how much their behavior impacts other players. If it's an occasional behavior in a "wasteland" area (e.g. a high-turnover area or one that neither team considers valuable) then I don't think it's a big deal. If it happens constantly or it has tactical/strategic impact then I think they should stop doing it one way or another.

Example: One time an opposite-faction friend smashed a portal so I could get a unique cap on something I'd submitted. The portal was in a high-turnover downtown area and had a single-reso deploy from someone who had passed through to get uniques, so there was no strategic value to it. All my friend did was save me a flipcard (of which I have tons). I don't think that's problematic behavior. If someone on the other faction offered to take down blocking links so that I could throw a big field I would strongly object.

In here we know of a case where one of the couple switched factions from RES to ENL so they could start making their own IFSs, now they make them with like 90% RES and 10% ENL (most of them backpack accounts or other people that switched factions too), they also do a lot of wintrading with their couch portals.

So I guess this is a common practice and as with many other things, Niantic doesn't give a sheet.

Lets imagine green player does not like his faction and blue player does not like his faction, both dont want to switch, since they know other faction is bad too. So they both work together to fight both factions. Is that forbidden too? :D

Honestly, i would like to see someone doing that :D

    Depends on the box.

Sure sounds like two against the world if that's the case.

  • I've never seen a successful cross faction relationship last. The usual effects are:

    • One flips to the other team.
    • One quits playing.
    • Both are ostracised for 'security leaks' and quit.

Simply put, if you're not willing to join the other faction, don't date the other faction.

I've seen it work once. Both play to some degree with agreement between the couple on "whose playing now". Both factions are OK with it. They are both mature enough to respect opsec.

If the couple are wintrading on a regular basis - rebuild smash etc, then report them..

  • We are living the scenario here for several years. Two green agents living together, one recursed blue and both of them started to **** my local team (green). It ended temporary, when they moved like 16 mil away. Both of them recursed back green…

But just a month ago, one of them decided to recurse blue again, and has traveled the 16 mils back here 2 times since then only to wrec havoc in our town.

Last time I flipped my sofas before her eyes, just to se her husbond (still green) **** it down.

For me it doesnt really make much harm, but its a really ugly way of playing.

Not all couples would exploit the situation like these two thou.
