Game crashes on boot after in-game support replies - on Android 13 - Pixel 7 Pro

Setup:

  • Pixel 7 Pro
  • Android 13
  • Ingress version 2.104.1
  • Both Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity

Yesterday I used the in-game support (reported a player, if that's relevant). The game was fine for several hours after that. At some point, it crashed and never been able to boot again: that's the moment the support answered (and I've never been able to read that answer).

I was forced to empty app data (because cleaning cache wasn't helping) and the game came back to life (sadly, doing so deletes the support conversation).

Since I wasn't able to read that answer, this morning I tried to contact support again. Same thing, the game was fine for several hours, until the support answered: game crashed and now it can't boot again.

This time, I recorded an android logcat of the error and that's what it says as soon as I try to open the game:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The same error is pasted on my android clipboard:

"Targeting S+ (version 31 and above) requires that one of FLAG_IMMUTABLE or FLAG_MUTABLE be specified when creating a PendingIntent"

I know I can delete app data again, but I'd like to read the answer I received, somehow.

STEP TO REPRODUCE:

1- Contact In-game support

2- Wait for an answer

3- Profit! Endless crash.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:

1- Contact in-game support

2- Wait for an answer

3- No crashes, being able to read the answer and being able to play.

I'm attaching a video when you can see how fast it crashes as soon as it's opened.

  • Helpshift has always been a good piece of software and is very unique in the way it can be integrated into apps using a livechat form, but this is one of many bugs and there are quite a few that i have observed.

Im not sure however if as a client of helpshift's that niantic can force them to do anything to fix the issue @NianticBrian ??

The clearing of app data is always a last resort and i avoid ever doing it mainly because of the local device reply & no backup for the user but niantic should have the conversation on there side if the interface on there systems somewhere.

These days i've resorted back to email ticket replies to keep my own logs.

  • Ok, I have the same problem and of course I too deleted the app data 2x because there was no other way out.

Same, I did not realize it was related to my support request, but it did happen after I contacted support.

    Android 13.0, Samsung galaxy 21, Prime 2.105.3

  • Same issue. Would love to have known the answer to my problem this time as it involved items they sent to me.

Same problem. We need a way to view responses outside of the app if this happens. Even if you fix the bug.

    Samsung S21 Ultra 5g Android 13

  • Still happening, now on prime 2.106.1-04. (Android 13.0, Samsung galaxy 21)

  • I have this happening to me today. Is there a way to fix it?

  • The fix might be to unsubscribe from C.O.R.E. and permanently delete "Prime".
