If we’re not allowed to nominate schools, why this??
Creating a mission recently and came across this waypoint. One of those binoculars things. Not only is it in the completely wrong place it’s a secondary school. I’m slightly confused why this exists. 🤷🏻♂️. Location: 51.07869° N, 1.17409°

You’re probably better flagging it on the Wayfarer forums - https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/
That's not a portal or POI though, Wayfarer not going to be of use I think? Do Field trip waypoints have anything to do with Wayfarer and is there a recognised way to edit them since field trip was retired?
The "binocular things" are Field Trip cards. Wayspots nomination rules don't apply to Field Trip cards, because those weren't nominated by players. They were curated by Niantic content partners, as part of a content program that ended years ago.
I doubt taking it up with Wayfarer will do anything, because I doubt Wayfarer manages Field Trip waypoints. I doubt anybody really manages Field Trip cards now, because there are a lot of out-of-date cards. In fact, I'd bet 5 bucks those things are embedded in a legacy Ingress system that isn't being actively updated.
Anyway, the reasons for blocking schools as portals doesn't really apply to Field Trip cards -- no students are getting distracted trying to complete Ingress missions in class.
I would think the issue with schools is you don't want Ingress players accidentally looking like the free candy van demographic.
Ah, I missed that, apologies.
As someone else said, I doubt that anyone is checking Field Trip stuff now.
Oh yeah. Forgot what they were called. This isn't even anywhere near the school. I find it very odd.
Historical architecture for schools isn't really out of the ordinary
It’s a K12 location
I'm saying for a Field Trip location that would provide history about it. These don't become portals.
Simple. It should be removed as a Field Trip Waypoint. It should not be there.
Just because something that shouldn't be there is, doesn't mean the policy is wrong.
It’s just a school and it was built fairly recently. It’s hasn’t got any history.
Don't include it on any missions, and no one will have to open it. If a mission in your area already includes this field trip, send a Comm message to the mission creator asking if they'll removing it.
You're just not going to get any traction, trying to get rid of something in an old database no one looks at.
If you try to press press press this with Niantic, they'll just remove all Field Trips from the mission tool. Then places with 5 portals and a Field Trip will not be able to have a mission. Existing missions with 1 portal and 5 field trips will not be what the mission creator envisioned.
Please stop shaking this tree. Field Trips are obscure things that can help missions. It's fine.
Field Trip hasn't been updated since 2015, and completely closed down in 2019. It's an old database that isn't properly maintained, and we have no way of recommending removal.
I would more for seeing what is there before suggesting removal. Niantic did curate these databases for inclusion - without Ingress or any other games in mind. I see it a bit odd to suggest removal to this level.
There is plenty of portals in this area. Thousands in fact. And it’s not even in the correct location. I’m not shaking any tree. I just wondered why they included it in the mission creator in the first place. It’s not included in any missions. Just found it an odd thing to include
Linked to this about K-12, you may want to know that K-12 outdoor basketball courts are okay because
NBA gave Niantic a big heap of cashNiantic says soYeah, very dbl standard of Niantic. Its pretty disgusting.
I wonder what they will say/do when inevitably the NBA game shuts down
