Ingress migration from Twitter?

in General
Hi folx!
Given the shenanigans going on at Twitter right now, does anyone know which alternate social media platforms the Niantic and more specifically Ingress communications teams may shift to in the (likely) event of Twitter’s demise?
Or is there even such a plan in place?
I’d miss the news reports and social media updates off my scanner, and am hoping that there is at least 10% of a backup plan, to quote a certain space superhero movie.

Demise?
Maybe fire up their own Niantic or Ingress Mastodon server? 😅
Make accounts for all the characters! @[email protected], @[email protected], @[email protected]?
Move the social media to a reputable platform.
Truth Social or Parlor should work.
That's what they did in the early years on G+ (making accounts for the characters), and in my opinion it was a very cool way to add depth and engagement to the Lore. Doing that with Mastodon seems like a very interesting idea. (And FWIW, even if Niantic didn't do it, it would be possible for players to do such a thing with their own characters. Like the TS-Morpheus project, that came up in another thread. I've seen a few other things like that, but that's the only one that took off. Still a cool concept.)
I had forgotten about that! G+ has faded in to not much more than a dim memory for me 😢
I'm confused by this question. Ingress is already on Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram.
their own Campfire, but so few actually using it.
I mean at that time Niantic was a part of Google. Why would they not use Google's own network to their benefit?
Twitter is just one of many outlets for Niantic to communicate to us. Replacing Twitter when it's superfluous for announcements seems unnecessary.
I suggested a Niantic Mastodon instance on Twitter and @NianticBrian liked my post. So who knows.
I love the idea of having characters communicate etc. could tie in with the new MACHINA faction.
It does tend to the be the best one for having responses from various staff and the first place to hear news.
Would not support Twitter with the way staff are being treated. Plus the lifting of restrictions on people spouting false / hateful words.
twitter is the last thing niantic should use since so few actually go there for news
Very few go there for news, but there are many bots account transfering their tweets to TG/discord/slack. For Ingress their telegram account is enough for me but as a PoGo player their tweets are interesting to have on discord servers. I’d be very happy to see them on Mastodon, and happier to have lore characters communicating through it.
It's great for pushing out bits that give out quick news - for instance 511 is on there and provides simple information on where there's traffic or closures. My issue is what would provide the same type of API?
Twitter is going to destroy itself at this point so even my above comment about staff is moot. If only there were a forum specific for Ingress players where the Ingress Blog Posts could be reposted (as a link) in a new discussion thread, each time something were posted.
You could even find a group of players who can act as forum evangelists to help out, but I'd avoid completely ignoring them or the whole idea will fall flat.
Twitter is just a news outlet. If it goes away, Niantic will continue to post their news across all of the other social media platforms, along with Telegram and in app.
If anything, some Ingress users will have to shift to other social media outlets to access such news, or reply to posts, ect.
Like Twitter, it is up to the player to decide whether or not they want to see it, but Niantic already has its system.
For some reason, the application is currently unavailable to Ingress players, but Niantic Campfire is a good way to announce it to Ingress players, both officially and unofficially.
Also, Truffel, which is about to start its alpha test, is a more suitable social network for Ingress than Campfire, considering that it mainly focuses on wayspots (portals). However, this is just my guess, since I don't know the full details.
