Ingame Layers Improvements
Could we make it so the text changes to represent what the layers are actually displaying? Purple and orange text are fairly meaningless, and saying that "red ring" = "purple captured" = uncaptured portal is a bit silly.

The improvement would be a single layer for Uniques data.
Normal:
Inverted:
Alternately, segment the ring into thirds. A ring with purple and yellow segments would be visited/scout controlled but not captured, for example. Or, inverted in the logical way.
Yeah, I would like multiple layers, but it might get a bit busy.
Photoshop is being a butthead on my computer right now so here's the hackiest of hacky mockups.
Why partition the circle when full circle do trick?
The issue is the UI of the layers. Yellow highlight means "current" or "achieved" , purple highlight means "available"
Perhaps an additional string needed on the map layer chooser UI?
@MoogModular Partitioning the circle lets me see three types of information at once. I'm not sure what you mean by "full circle do trick". Can you clarify?
I doubt the server can utilize seeing three layers of data at once.
As for "full circle do trick":
There are 3 x 2 possibilities (not visited/visited/captured x scout-controlled/not-scout-controlled), so you can use 6 colors to encode the same information.
Yes, a single layer would be very helpful, especially when hacking/capturing uniques from a bus, tram or taxi. However, I would prefer a different set of colors for the inverted view, so you see immediately when you are in inverted mode. (Yesterday I captured the all the wrong portals while traveling on a bus because I had accidentally selected the inverted view.)
@saarstahl Yes, you can use six colors but that's not user-friendly. "Wait, is teal scout controlled and visited but not captured, or is it visited and captured but not scout controlled?"
Except there are only 3 states and you can't mix and match.
You don't need to partition the ring if you're just viewing uniques. Red implies purple already. As for the others, if we get more layers your mockup will become unusable because the slices will be too small and blend into each other.
Pick what you want to see. The only real change is that Uniques should be one layer, not two.
Don't forget the much-needed "Drone Visited" layer!
Indeed. Collapsing visits and captures into one option would allow a Drone Visited layer without expanding the display box 😀
