It looks like these forums have been abandoned by Niantic

in General
"Promoted Content" lists Kythera and Vesak, two events long past
"News" most recent post is about Vesak, which was 3 months ago
"Release Notes" stops at 2.92, when the current version is 2.96
Neither "Events" nor "Events / Anomalies" have any pinned posts about Superposition, only questions from players
What's the deal here @NianticBrian ?

All the stuff is now posted on this site:
No idea why this was never announced here or why the posts aren't mirrored 🤷
my guess is switch to campfire soon but why not say anything ? it looks abandon with old events on main page
@NianticThia any comments?
Because there are no actual moderators or anyone from Niantic who really do much in the way of promoting forum activity. Usually an agent will post on the forums and create a discussion. Same way agents usually do most of the leg work for anomalies and other events. It's pretty much an agent run game, minus the actual dev work.
They don't comment on ANY upcoming changes, in regards to the game, the forums, anything.
We suck at communication, we need to get better, we're gonna hire someone....
Now, some might argue it's even worse now... This company is a joke when it comes to communication, specifically in regards to what they used to provide vs what we get now...
Niantic doesn't look at this. Which is why it's pointless to keep asking for new features here. Niantic has abandoned these forums like players have abandoned the game. Ingress is like the lonely broken arcade machine in the corner that nobody plays anymore. Occasionally somebody will stumble upon it. But there's too many other options that work better.
Well, please point me to the game that can replace ingress, I’m ready to invest my time in another game.
they say they’re trying, but I’m done waiting for success after almost 2 years. It’s clear they need to up the server capacity to fix issues, but it costs money so too bad for us I guess.
I thought the XMAs were our forum leaders? Can they not get an official word from niantic on this, so we don't waste further time here?
If only we had a community manager.
Where did you get that idea?
It feels like Niantic got tired of dealing with comments and created the News page to post updates.
yeah u cant comment on news xd
There's other reasons for using a blog site, but it is extremely frustrating that we don't have a linked post made by Niantic Official when new stuff goes up, so we can discuss it. With the switch to hosting the content on the main Ingress site, they need to do better at linking it back to the forums.
isnt this discussed between xma why new releases arent posted anymore on the community forum only on the news ?
The disconnect has been passed on to @NianticThia directly, but then doesn't mean I can't voice the same opinion publicly in agreement.
I joined the XMA program to make the forum a better and more interesting place. Hasn't happened.
has the program brought anything worth mentioning? I mean, it’s been a while now; do you feel it made any difference/impact at all?
There are two Mission Days (that I know of) this weekend, but it seems that Niantic can't be bothered with adding them to the event calendar. Oh wait, it doesn't exist...
Time to resign?
What I'm seeing is that Niantic staff is only appearing here just for closing threads, which is kinda sad.
Ive asked for years for Niantic to centralise news releases.
That does not mean not ccing the releases to forums etc...
Maybe it's time to get off the dead horse? Maybe it's time to announce the date of closing the game servers?
In the original XMA announcement post:
Who were intended to be the forum leaders if not XMAs?
It seems like the forums are abandoned, however, so the XMAs are no longer needed.
Active in the forum ≠ forum leaders...
Active on forum ≠ 1 message a month, either.
"Active in the Ingress Forum", if anything, was part of someone's original vision or aspiration for the program. It did not factor into the selection of the XMAs. That vision would make sense if the forums had more general discussion threads and activity than they actually do.
I wonder why Niantic hasn't made a single announcement for the sites they have picked for MD2022 events? They already have a map under events. How hard would it be to at least pin events there if they are so lazy to announce them publicly either on the forum or via news? 🙄
Nia, "They want more communication? We'll show them!"
For some reason, I'm sure that even if evil Freddy Krueger torment Niantic employees at night in the worst nightmares, calling for communication with the players... There will be no reaction in response.
Alternatively, if you're not happy with a form of entertainment, you can find another. The game won't die when you leave. If it's not sparking joy in your life, set it free and travel a different path, but you don't have to declare that everyone who still enjoys it should be denied that enjoyment.
No mention of "leaders"
This one is about the only "forum" related requirement, and ... hi.
