@Perringaiden Don't forget all those leveling kits that are full of VR gear. Power leveling with a stack of purchased Apex boosts is essentially buying the ability to get that gear for half the effort.
Well that’s pushing it. Besides, with as many “bonus ap” events nowadays, ap means nothing.
There is no “win” in ingress. One versus one it’s “the person with the most time wins”. If you take team games and global scores, there is no way paying makes it easier. You have to coordinate with a lot of people to win in your cell.
otherwise it’s personal stats, and the person who invests the most time will progress faster…
@Perringaiden I'm just saying that the extra power from Hypercubes does convey some advantage. That one isn't huge, although the giant piles of VR gear are pretty powerful.
If recharging isn't super powerful gameplay then can we get rid of recharge rooms for anomalies, please?
I would say, level doesnt spell out how good of an agent the player is. But if the attacker is an lvl8 agent or 10times recursed lvl16, will absolutly affect my reponse in how to defend areas of my faction. A highlevel agent has had a longer time to explore and learn, they have more tricks and might have more gameplay knowledge. All levels also has their advantage and disadvantage. Imo lvl12-14 is the moust perfect level for allround playing.

Skill is definitely power. However, you can't buy skill. An Apex in many cases is directly against that logic, because you gain levels without time to learn the skills, meaning your "effective power" is less despite your level.
Skill and time is not a question here, because you can't buy that. As per the original point of the post, the tutorials need to hook players correctly so that they quickly gain the skills they will need, at least at a basic level, meaning more 'power' by most people's logic.
I mean you learn as you go regardless of whatever is available. It's just odd that Apex are brought up here as something bad by someone who doesn't even use them (let alone won't just activate them to remove them from their inventory but there's another topic for that discussion). We've had so many events that modified the AP you got back. Even though you reach max potential at 1.2 M AP, stragedy never really ends. The power with Ingress in the past was number of agents.

its a small advantage vs free players sure.

The extra XM at 16 definitely helps with attacking...
Small? I guess you cant imagine what i can do with 500 L8 Burster xD
@SSSputnik Also the extra power from Hypercubes.
Yeah I think your concept of "buying power" is really stretching the definition. Recharging is not super powerful gameplay.

Hrm, for defense and attack it's a definite bonus...
It's almost like that's what the Apex are for. 🤔

You reach max potential at 40M AP plus the right set of badges.
Majority of your potential is when you hit level 8. The tank and recharging is miniscule compared to having access to level 8 weapons.
Effectively max at 1.2 million AP, after an hour or two of playing. That's one of the better features of Ingress.
And also many dont bother lvl up much after that meaning they get bored
Ingress was and always will be a community oriented game. Without a team and/or commnunity, it's boring as F.
