Audio in 2.94.1
I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra Exynos 2100
Android 12
*Volume*
Without earbuds, the audio in game is at a good volume level
With the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, the audio is 25% quieter.
This must be a bug, as the volume was at a good level before this update.
Even with in game volume at max, it is still too quiet, by approximately 25%.
*Spacial Audio*
Does not work when the portal is within range.
I found that I had to be around 5 metres of the portal core before the spacial audio kicked In.
Sweeping around on the spot to listen to the portal core did appear to follow it's orientation correctly with my device.
Yes the Samsung Buds I have, do appear to support the new spacial audio in the game.
Yay, I don't need to buy new ear buds.
*Enhanced audio*
- XM pick up sounds fricken weird, like pew pew everytime, am not a fan of this.
- Stereo sound, is hit and miss, quite obvious when the sound or effect is in stereo or mono
*Rant*
STOP DELETING STUFF IN INGRESS!
Had raised this many times in the past.
- Voices in the portals, gone.
- Light static of the portal core, gone.
Way to flipping ki ll Ingress by deleting stuff that many of us find wonderful and interesting.
The voices in the portals was an immensely powerful feature that you could have easily, EASILY, used for story telling.
Are you intending to get rid of your player base?
The XM pulse being deleted now for 4 years, really did not make my experience better, it remained quite bad.
You stopped the story 3 years ago, and with it significantly reduced the reason for faction vs faction conflict. We need that conflict as Ingress at its core is a strategy game.
4 years ago deleted the Classic UI/UX (big buttons), and with that annihilated a significant portion of our communities.
Repeating again.
STOP deleting stuff in Ingress!

The audio is cheap and laggy sounding now, definitely not pleasant like it was.

The ADA and Jarvis voices are still there, but instead of sounding when you open the portal details, you'll now hear them when near a portal on the main map.
They are not present at all for me in any form, hence why I am a little annoyed right now
I'll try and record them in a little bit, if I'm around a L7 portal, I can still hear them.
ADAs voice starts to increase pretty much as soon as I enter the 40m radius of the L7 portal, with her blabbering about like normal.
The sound effect for recharging is way louder than other effects - for example inventory actions.
Have to turn the effect slider down to ~ 20% to get the recharging sound to a reasonable level... but that makes other effects nearly inaudible.
(Android 12 @ Pixel 3a)
My sound is switched off and it still keeps playing all the sound, which is annoying if you are listening to music or not even have your headset with you and are in middle of a crowded place...
@NianticBrian
Niantic is aware and working on a fix for 2.95.1, scheduled for mid-July.
So not supposed to play until then 😳
Don't they test it before releasing it...
The voices in the portals was an immensely powerful feature that you could have easily, EASILY, used for story telling.
Then you would know hearing the exogenous after we removed them wouldn't make sense now...if anything, it's more correct. Let them tinker with the sound, it's been needed.
I can't turn the sounds off. They are there all the time 😡 Fix this! This is like early Prime beta all over.
Yeah I have exactly the same problem. If you go to the options the app suddenly remembers it's supposed to be muted.
I usually walk listening to podcasts. When I load ingress it comes screeching in twice the volume of said podcast, even though volume is off.
Maybe it's the work of a vindictive 8% Niantic staff that got layed off.
The introduction of such bug could to some extent help developers of Ingress team not being laid off, by their making some tasks for themselves to do. After all, Niantic needs someone to fix bugs.
No offense, but we need someone who could fix Niantic itself and its workflows. In well-coordinated companies, there is a department for beta testing of released applications, there is a person responsible for quality testing.
Remember the days when we played games on cartridges, or games and games purchased on hard drives in an era when there was no Internet. How did the major game publishers behave then? They tested every aspect of the game, and therefore almost any game could be played from start to finish without glitches, text that got out of the button fields, and many other things.
Last year I've written to the several highest-level employees about my concern. Nobody replied. If this company doesn't care about itself being a better company then I'd suggest letting it go.
I blame this lame advertisement for "Sony LinkBuds" for all the sound settings not working now after this update.
First Saturday has come and gone.
My initial thoughts and impressions are incredibly wrong.
My Apologies.
Enabling this setting in Galaxy Wear for my Galaxy Buds Pro, brought back the volume level back to what it was.
Found only Level 7 or higher portals have voices in portals.
The XM pick up HD sound is definitely growing on me, and finding it for the most part to be pretty good.
I miss the thruming XM static of portal cores. With it gone, portals sound pretty bland and boring.
However, the voices in portals do need to stay!
The issue everyone else has for the sounds being on during startup, does not affect me, as I always have sounds on. Yes I know I am weirdo on this, however I personally NEED audio on. Generally turn the mobile volume down when I am around other Ingress players/muggles.
