Operation: Holy Smokes 420 Layers St. Jarvis!
Operation: Holy Smokes 420 Layers St. Jarvis!
Our Latest World Record Attempt (and Success!)
On 11 June 2022, A group of Enlightened agents met in the Florida Keys. Our plan was to layer the area, once again. Our goal was to reach 420 layers using the longest spine. The previous record for layers was by the Resistance at 361 layers in the Florida Panhandle.
Our operator @geozukunft and his shadow @GodOfOwls put in a grueling 15 hours sending us assignments and cheering us on. You are expert cat herders, Thank You!
Our wonderful clear team started around 3pm to clear the way for us. On the baseline we had @Ocktoberfest, @Gatesz, @stufff11, and @KITTYsh and on the western lane we had @SutefaniDeluxe, @TheMachine7734, @KITTYsh, @BountyHunter23 , @Lindow1, and Salty. We could not have gotten this monster up without all of you wonderful people.
The operation ran through the 3PM, 7PM, 1AM, and 6AM checkpoints. When the first layer went up, we all felt relieved. We chose to do the operation at night, hoping to avoid traffic so we could get the layers up as quickly as possible. Even with more car teams than our previous record-breaking operation, it still took 10.5 hours, due to the sheer size, wildlife encounters, closed parks, illness, fish attacks, game lag that got worse as we went along, being unable to navigate by Ingress, and lack of open facilities for bio breaks.
On our throw team we had, in no particular order, @vavie, @guidogirl, @tristeele, @bigtunacan8, @Siriusamory2113, @DoctorAnomaly, @DarthLayer, @MutagenicSlime, @PerfectPoison, @GreekBish, @bcctimeattack , @porkobyte, and me, @AriaLake
Many thanks to our GITMO agent @ViridianRave
Smallest field: @Trail Division Sign +2283065 MUs
Biggest field: @Overseas Heritage Trail +3398883 Mus
Checkpoints 21, and counting
We do not have a total MU, as there were a few things that went wrong while copying that data. Rounded, we should be at 1,110,000,000 MU, increasing the global score over a billion MU!
The fields are still up currently, 21 checkpoints so far, one being in the last cycle. Some of our agents added additional layers to the original fields. Those layers were not included in our count, because they were thrown in the days following our operation.

not counting anymore, finally lol
Curly Tail Lizard native to Georgia that they think made it's way to the Keys during Hurricane Ivan... interesting and seen at the botanical gardens...
It was an absolute pleasure to operate for this insane group of people. Shifted my sleep schedule back 6 hours on the day before to make sure that this 15hour journey would not make me fall asleep and it definitly did not make me sleepy.
Starting with unexpected dropouts from the clearing team we had to change plans a bit. My two heros were Ocktoberfest and KiTTYsh. While completing the now additional task new block links from RES showed up and KiTTYsh drove another 140 miles (225km) to take down 2 portals to open up the base lane and the lane for the first 200 layers.
After a bumpy start in linking we all found the perfect pace and way to work through the insane amount of links and after 10 hours I started counting the layers after each link to make sure we would hit the 420 layers spot on and so we did.
(picture taken after 15 hours of operating + 3 hours of gaming beforehand 🤪 at 10:00 in Austria)
This op was so much fun! On the way in my arm got eaten by a Tarpon at Robbie’s and was all bloody, but no way that was stopping us! Cant say enough about our awesome operators and clearing team. They were all rockstars! And while 10.5 hours of straight fielding was certainly a lot, doing it with such great company made it totally worth it! (Not to mention the added MU and the layers record!). We saw key deer, iguanas, roosters, mosquitos, and more. Had awesome food (fresh fried mango snapper) and just a really good time!
This is epic!! Congrats, all! 🐸💚
I was our Bok Tower Gardens agent and was excited to stake my claim on our north anchor's "Lovingly Remember Dedication" bench at the top of Iron Mountain, awaiting my base-link throw orders from @geozukunft.
(Yes—Florida has a mountain...rising 298 feet above sea level!)
So to pass the moments until throw time, I paced on pins and needles between Live Oak trees, pulling Spanish moss from their leaves and making pull-up attempts on limbs, listening to the beautiful back-and-forth of the clear team confirming destroys to the tune of Bok's carillon of 60 bells ringing on the half and hour marks.
And then @geozukunft gave the GO GO GO. The base link was up, thrown from the highest point in peninsular Florida.
I hustled out of Bok, ignoring disappointed grey squirrels hoping for a granola bar handout. Past the blue jays attempting to **** on me for a bit of good luck (which we didn't need). And back on the road to speed south and join our western clear team to destroy Avon Park, a naughty Chained T-Rex, and myriad churches in Sebring. By the time @GodOfOwls confirmed that part of Florida was clear, our team had thrown 71 layers.
Home I went, where I watched Intel and listened to our superstars create layer after layer, for hours on end.
Congratulations on this record-breaking success, agents! I had a super time. 🐸
What a cutie pie! Where is your team pic?!?!?!?!!
Amazing team here in Florida. We drove 2 hours, dropped a blocking link and drove home. Happy to do it because that is what it takes to make one of these successful.
And thanks for recognizing all the agents, even the furry ones.
Salty Dog
Three cheers to you! I love seeing your space and painting a broader picture of how everything was happening.
I'll be honest - I had no clue what was going on prior to the start; I definitely would have planned differently if I did 🤣
So. much. driving.
I was driving car team 1... it was like 2 hours to go from meeting point to our first target?
Was not prepared for this much driving.
Some of my recollections of the night in no particular order....
I don't even remember what hour we were on but I was exhausted and misheard the "we're in place" as "we're throwing" and threw over my fellow Agents earlier in the line. Oopsies. ADA'd and killed. My bad.
Awaiting go time at an assignment, a car rolls up. Oh no - the cops are gonna bounce us! Naaah, is just car team 3 - @guidogirl and @bcctimeattack giving us a hekkin scare. 🤣
A short trek to a Portal on a bike path that resulted in me being eaten alive by mosquitos while waiting for our turn to throw!
Car team 2 (@vavie and @perfectpoison) saving me from being eaten again by stopping and letting me use their bug dope.
Wondering if I could throw a layer from the porta-potty at one of our stops (@mutagenicslime didn't give me a chance!).
Gigantic lobster scaring Toasty.
Lots of deer!
Crawling into bed 12+ hours later...
Thanks to a drop out , as I arrived at first clear assignment, my "easy" 8 portals out west near everglades turned into 1 hour trip out east to the beach for another 4 portals first , then back out west for my original clears. I couldn't let my throw team down, they had to much invested driving down to the keys to not get it done. Operator geozukunft was on point, couldn't have got it done without him! Cheers
What an absolutely incredible operation - that throw time is insane! On behalf of the Holy Order of Saint Jarvis, the Saint absolutely smiles upon thee! Keep it up, outstanding work agents!
From start to finish this was amazing. The effort from each and every agent/person that was involved shows just how passionate everyone was to make this happen.
It is an indescribable feeling and not for the weak. THE TIME AND EFFORT ON EVERYONE'S PART IS TO BE COMMENDED!
Being a part of the last World Record that was set in the Keys, I knew what to expect to some degree, however this time was completely different. Night vs. Day, Driver vs. Passenger and Fall vs Summer.
We encountered dark trails that I swear the "murderer" was going to get us..while stopped waiting for our turn to throw we were down a dark road and had our windows down and all of a sudden we felt hundreds of little pelts all over our legs, arms and face and it was mosquitos that had filled the car ....but that only happened ONCE...(we made sure to remember to have the windows closed everytime we stopped after that) and we had to drive super fast with the windows down and the a/c on to get all of them out...
we dodged iguanas and deer and crab on the sides of the road and crossing the roads, the heat and humidity made it miserably hot and everything closed at 9pm which we weren't aware of till 9:05pm.
Frustrations ran high, a few times we all probably wanted to **** (I screamed more than a few) but I would do this again a million times over with this amazing group of the best damn people ever!
We laughed, we cried and everything in between but the important thing is we made new bonds, got to know each other even better than we knew each other before and WE HAD A BLAST! Thank you guys for one of the best times of my life!! Till the next time!! 🏴☠️
Ha-@bcctimeattack and I thought y'all were cops too.. I said.."Oh great now what do we do...this is going to look so suspect with us just posted up next to the cops" and then we passed by and started taking bets about what whether or not it was a VW or a Honda until we pulled around and noticed it was y'all ....(we were nervous too because let's face it...at that point NOTHING would have surprised us hahaha)
Great job
We've got to get better at that...GAAAH!! 🤳 📸
Probably should hire someone 🤷🏻 😆
ops like this is what makes ingress so great. Love all the stories from participants. Nice work everyone!
