…this year, we’re upping the ante by hosting a Niantic Community Day once a month through July 2022! Niantic Community Days will now feature all of our games, in locations around the world
So it should feature Ingress, and the teams running them should be aware of it. At present it’s just a Pokémon GO & Pikmin Bloom Community Day, where those who have attended events with Niantic representatives state that they have no idea what Ingress is, and then @NianticBrian & @NianticThia say they’ll pass on feedback each month and nothing changes.
core is probably so small it doesnt matter much i guess. but either way the reps should atleast have some basic knowledge about ingress and not like when asked no idea what it is even.. i mean cmon :P
Yeah, the Ingress knowledge issue has been fed back each month, and vague promises made to ensure it won’t happen again. Then we get to next month and it happens again.
I’m all for single use or triple use (like the incubators on Pokémon GO) KCaps in the store and maybe as very very rare drops from hacks. Rarer than Quantum Caps, maybe? Or perhaps only from L8 portals?
I would not do drops at all. You have your free one already. Every time a monetization strategy is suggested someone always comes out with "But what about ... hacking it?".
That’s a fair point. I was thinking along the lines of the extra ones in Pokémon GO, you sometimes get from research or by doing special tasks, and wondering how Ingress might do the same. Of course, they don’t have to do that at all.
The Niantic Community Day for July has now been pushed more by Niantic.
For us, during that day we do have Restocking Weekend and some extra AP for grabs. I wouldn’t mind if this was all we got for it, but it could be better promoted in game.
16-17 July: Restocking Weekend
Portal Hacks will yield 2X amount of Portal Mods
Portal Hacks will yield 2X amount of Ultra Strikes
2X AP on all actions from 17 Jul 14:00 to 16:00 local time
I agree that it’s odd for just the two hours. It’s the first “Restocking Weekend” event that I’ve seen so maybe it’s a test to see how many participate before making it a whole day/weekend like their other games do from time to time.
For the first one, we will be in the midst of Peace Week (https://ingress.com/news/2022-peace-week/). I wonder if we could get a “2x2” bonus for a bit on that particular day.
I think it’s a great way for them to get some cross-play.
It’s always mentioned that Ingress has issues getting new players and keeping them.
With the Niantic Community Days, there’s tents with contracted staff to promote Pikmin Bloom & Pokémon GO, in many locations.
If someone was only playing Pokémon GO, they may then see Pikmin Bloom and ask about that and how they can play/get involved with that local community. If Ingress was included too, it would help to get new players there. It would also encourage others to meet up with their Ingress community if they haven’t before.
Good point about First Saturday and absolutely if it aligned to the same day as the other events, but Pikmin Bloom & Pokémon GO seem to have theirs either on a Sunday or mid-month so unless they changed this up, it isn’t going to align
We have had the 2x2 events which could be used. Or like Pikmin Bloom, it could be working on a certain goal for the day such as x amount of links or mods placed during that time/day.
community day marked to ingress would be a great day try get in new people, i dont see ever any ads for ingress, youtube is dead and social media aswell.. i dont understand.... grow the game by getting the word out for some reason they dont..
I'm fairly certain that the rest of niantic is more than willing to throw the switch on ingress but John Hanke himself, by sheer will and determination, is keeping the game alive because this is one of his OG projects.
If after removing all temp game changes due to Covid, they could move the IFS back to in person. Run it the same day as community day and I guess the same place. If pogo people and pikmin people see Ingress folks running around, and being there to explain about it and help them learn how to play/level up, maybe we could get an influx of agents? It really doesn't seem like rocket science. But I don't see anyone from Ingress even attempting to push Ingress at Community day when you have people who likely don't play, showing up...
Really wish the community day would rotate to different local parks or something. Its the same exact place each month

Bollocks.
Their blog;
states that;

Probably should have said "all our profitable games" or "all our monetized games". 😁
Yeah probably. Is Ingress not yet monetised enough with CORE & Battle Beacons? Do we need purchasable KCaps to add more?

Yes, we want single use KC's and R8 packs in the store.

One day we'll get something like special tasks, missions were the obvious one initially i thought
Pokémon GO seems to be having Missions shortly. “Routes” that players can make. I wonder when they’ll get Second Sunday. 😆
This recent video;
shows some load out cards being given. Did this happen at any events folks here attended?
Hopefully Ingress can be more involved in these.
Linking this thread in now too.
It's going to be haphazardly not involved due to the events not lining up. It would be better once FS is back to physical locations.
Maybe they can plan things out better for 2023. They may have Peridot & Transformers: Heavy Metal Community Days by then to loop in too.
From @Breenzy this event seemed a little better.
still no Ingress swag but I guess only “swag” was promised not specific to Ingress.
Do I have to say it every month? It's about the Niantic brand. That's why there's Niantic and Wayfarer stickers.
Ingress is monetised, we pay a subscription

2x ap just 2 hours? why not from 16-17 july ?

The Pokémon GO blog have announced the next set of dates;
We’d like to share next Season’s Community Day dates!
Which are also on
For the first one, we will be in the midst of Peace Week (https://ingress.com/news/2022-peace-week/). I wonder if we could get a “2x2” bonus for a bit on that particular day.
I know I bang on about this every Community Day, but please do something for it on the next few Niantic.
You even have the simple restocking weekend and 2x2 events that you can use for this.
Peace Week is on during this and that’s fine, but the Community Day isn’t encouraging me to be social with others or explore, with what’s going on.
Pikmin Bloom is tasking me with 10,000 steps whilst Pokémon GO is telling me to go out and cram as many Roggenrola into my storage as I can handle.
Ingress is saying I should do links but I’ve got a bigger timeframe so don’t need to actively play today.
What the hell do you want with Ingress and Community Day? If IFS wasn't virtual, that's what would fit.
Good question.
