Is there a way to permanently shut off the campfire from an Ingress account? By doing so, can it help solve the latency issues? The lag is getting worse.
I want to know this too. I entered the closed beta but the system was not for me so I want to leave the service. People who never joined get the "invite to crapfire" in profile so it's obviously possible.

I mean it's currently in Ingress as Niantic Social and there's a closed beta of it right now.
Anything about Campfire announced at the Lightship Summit hasn't been expanded on since the announcement.
Niantic Social = Campfire. There’s an app out for some at the moment that’s separate.
“Summer” was mentioned at the Lightship event, and I imagine they’ll want it for Pokémon GO’s “Season of GO”.
Isn't campfire what you do when you are being a **** to another player?
Yeah, they didn’t consider the name in relation to Ingress 😂
Here you can download the app and wait for Niantic to Enable it in your country.

It would be really nice if I could turn off notifications from Campfire in Ingress, I really don't need these extra notifications.
What you don’t like notifications? Lol
Go into each channel you are in and mute them. Issue resolved.

Be careful. Removing an account from a component of Niantic could lead your account being removed from other games sometimes.
Not everyone links Campfire with other Niantic games.
