Why is there not an option to disable all these pop-ups on game start?!
This morning I had to restart my scanner while on a walk because of a scanner freeze. Upon doing so, I received the following popups, in order:
1) March IFS RSVP
2) Legal disclaimer
3) Fitrep on my kinetic caps
I am just trying to restart the game, and I have to stop and acknowledge 3 different modals, of 3 different styles, with 3 differently-positioned "Okay" buttons, just to get back into the game.
I did not ask for these popups, and I don't want these popups. Imagine if these happened during an anomaly or a field op? How can I and other agents turn them off?
(And before you say it, disabling push notifications does NOT disable these, they're different.)

The legal disclaimer is there because, well, they're legally required to, so that one won't be removed.
I'd love if there was a toggle in the settings for "News" and "Weekly FITREP" that we could turn off though.
I've only noticed that the Fitrep pops up twice before disappearing for good for that week.
I know this will sound strange but I think those notifications need to be system dependent instant of some weird internal notification in game. That way you can dismiss them and have more control over them - it also provides notifications to inactive players. I know @Perringaiden can add to this.
I know their legal insists on that being there every single time, because CYA, but I still hate it. I can deal with that one, but 3 is too freaking many.
Fitrep one is annoying. Some days it will pop up on each load (ie each time you open the client to drone hack), other times it will be on different days. I'd love to disable the silly thing.
Not to mention the lightship intro animation added some time to the load up as well. Not a lot, but definitely seems like a second or two longer overall now... (maybe I'm wrong)
Just please fix the adv sync popup, that was annoying
The other 2 works as intended
I hate the Fitrip ad. I don't use Fitrep. I have a right to control what apps access my every move. My steps are counted fine as it is. Niantic even says it's optional.
I pay for C.O.R.E. but have to get the Fitrip advertising several times a week.
Does Niantic get a kickback for getting people to use Fitrep?
... What? The Fitrep thing is not an advertisement or an external app, it's an Ingress feature (Fitness Report) that just gives you an overview of how much distance Ingress has counted from you within the last week. It's supposed to only show once every week, but due to a bug, which will be fixed in "2.91", it shows multiple times per week.
It's a summary of your stats...not an ad but a notification. If you don't use AS then it will display your weekly trekker stats.
There's no financial gain for Niantic to utilize this as it's a very standard API within the built in health apps. Also, you're playing a GPS game. Niantic has that data regardless of this functionality.
Legal disclaimer only pops up if you reinstall the game
The fitrep only shows up once a week
Not exactly game breaking
Its a feature we didnt ask for though.
Given it's almost all lifted code from PoGo, it probably didn't require much effort.
Yes, it is an ad. A good chunk of the popup is "Enable Adventure Sync to update distance trekked while the Scanner is closed", and a big button saying "ENABLE ADVENTURE SYNC". To use Adventure Sync, I'd have to use Google Fit. Yes I know that Niantic and Google both already track my movements, but it's my right to not spread the knowledge to yet another app.
We have the week tab to check trekker, and I scroll past my kcap often enough that I always have an idea how far along it is. If combining them is fun, I'd rather it be something I can invoke from the main menu whenever I want.
But I don't like the pressure to change a setting. And sometimes the popup it interferes with the reason I launched the app.
Should we get rotating pop-ups for all features we don't use?
Given that we get the popup with adventure sync enabled, I really don't think that's the purpose. It's just saying "Credit for Exercise is Good. But it could be better!"
@Perringaiden What do you mean by "Given that we get the popup with adventure sync enabled"? I get the popup, and I don't have adventure sync enabled.
You said it was basically an advertisement to encourage people to turn on Adventure Sync, and listed a bunch of other similar 'advertisements'. Except that for those who have Adventure Sync turned on, an advertisement would be pointless and wouldn't appear, but it still does.
The FitRep harks back to Ingress' original goal of getting John Hanke's kids off the couch. Exercise has always been a key component of the game, even if it doesn't always change in ways that encourage that.
The purpose of the popup is not to encourage you to enable Adventure Sync. That's just an element that appears for people who haven't.
IFS popup is just spam.
Negative. It often shows up multiple times a day (and multiple days a week). I sometimes get it each time I launch my app to do my drone hack one per hour. Its annoying.
Best part? I recently removed and reinstalled my Ingress Prime app completely and had forgotten to turn Active Sync back on. And even with it off in the Prime client, I still had the pop up. I just didn't have much km walked, because it wasn't syncing.
I get the correct amount of Trekker k without Adventure Sync. Why mess with what's working?

Fitrep isn't tied to adventure sync. Just a recommendation included to get you more kms.
And yeah there's a known bug where it seems to pop up every restart on some days. It's only supposed to pop up once a week, like PoGo's fitness report does.
Niantic wants Adventure Sync turned on because it widens their data set. They get location data even when you're not playing. No thanks.
How? Niantic only gets the data that is the distance you traveled.
From Google Fit:
Connected apps can't access device location data collected by Google Fit.
I don't even think AS on iOS requests for location data when you enable connection to their HealthKit.
And now we get a Second Sunday popup too!! More spam.
You're only looking at the Google Fit integration. That's not the entirety of Adventure Sync. What it actually does is intake your background location at all times. Here's the prompt for permissions you get on Android when you try to turn it on.
Google Fit and any health app also depends on being enabled "all the time"
There's nothing esoteric about it
Google Fit blows anyway. You can't set your stride, so you get screwed out of steps when it's enabled. I tend to lose about 20% of my distance with Google Fit vs Fitbit (treadmill tested).
Adventure Sync can't be enabled without also enabling Google Fit (or the Apple equivalent). I don't want either one. I uninstalled Fit from my phone long ago. I'm fine with the FITREP exercise data as it is.
I could more give reasons here, but they're not the point.
The point is: It is OK to say "no" to this setting. It's not OK to be bullied into it.
I don't like how much of the weekly popup is dedicated to trying to get me to use products I don't want. The "ENABLE ADVENTURE SYNC" button is twice the size of the "OK" button. Especially since I pay for C.O.R.E - I should be able to opt out of advertising. At least make the "OK" button the bigger one.
