Time for new XMAs?

Recently the Wayfarer forums got their Wayfarer Ambassadors;
and as it’s been some time since we got the last batch of XMAs;
I wondered if we were due a new application for XMAs, or if XMAs are basically there until they decide they don’t want to be?

In my personal view, if there is a new call for applications, existing XMAs should be allowed to apply again. Then there would be a mix of new and old XMAs, in order to ensure some continuity.
The original XMAs were announced on March 5th, and Niantic intended to rotate them yearly.
In theory, that means that there should have already been a new round of applications. As they weren't posted, this either means Niantic will go through the applications from the previous year, they have moved the new applications back a bit or they don't actually plan to rotate the XMAs.
Ah I see. Hopefully they allow new applications. I didn’t apply last time because tensions were high between Pokémon GO & Ingress players then, and I felt my choice of agent name may get me dismissed as a voice of “the people”. But as I’ve now hit 16, recursed and play Ingress more, I’d think that things could be overlooked with the name.

The rotation should be moved up for some XMAs. ahem.

According to her while talking to her at the afterparty yesterday, yes, it's still a project of hers.

I think it would be interesting if Niantic invited some people to be XMA based on the positive value of their contributions here.
“Positive” value? Dang it. That rules me out again.
I think the jury is still out on if the XMA brought any positive value to Niantic.
I would really be more for anybody outside of the forums.
The Wayfarer team are now running their second round, recruiting for 2023. The current Ambassadors seem to be staying on to help with the transition & provide advice to the newly appointed folks.
I wonder when we will get new ones for Ingress?

You are required to ask Michael why he doesn't create a Pokémon GO forum before applying to be an XM Ambassador.

I think that’s a gap for Niantic for sure. The Wayfarer ones set three goals to try and work towards for 2022.
Would be great if the XMAs could get support to set up something similar for 2023.
And have they achieved any of those goals? Are there any indications they are getting things done? Is Niantic actually using the Wayfarer Ambassadors opinions/suggestions/whatever?
They’re counting two as that they’ve done work on. But I think even that feedback is good

14) How does the Wayfarer Team feel the Ambassadors have done?
We think the Wayfarer Ambassador Program has been a great success as together, we took on some challenging goals and always made decisions centered around the Explorer experience. We kicked off the program by setting three goals. We were able to tackle clarifying the criteria through the Criteria Challenge, adding more specificity to our most unclear set of criteria.
While supporting rural and remote communities didn’t occur as we expected in 2022, you will see this in early 2023. Ambassadors helped drive our plans to support rural and remote communities through our new global challenges which will be open to all Explorers in 2023.
The last goal was to think of new ways to make Wayfarer more exciting for new and current Explorers. We had several ideas for this, ranging from rewards to the reviewing experience. The Niantic Wayfarer team is considering many of these ideas for the Wayfarer App. As we go into 2023, we've invited our current Ambassadors to continue into next year, and we will share more details about the additional cohort soon.

It’s all I’ve got as I don’t think the Wayfarer Ambassadors can say much about it. Maybe once they cease their term.
Have those Criteria Challenge answers ever been added to Wayfarer itself (apart from just in the response to the challenge?) Judging by the most recent AMA on the wayfarer site (Dec 2021), I would say that that hasn't been achieved
