3.The landmarks of Kaohsiung, most of the images of Kaohsiung will be there, but unfortunately it is only an abandoned building with an empty appearance. I hope that one day it will prosper again.
3. "Tientsin Eye" is reported to be the only ferris wheel in the world that's erected above a bridge.
It is a 120-meter (394 ft)-tall giant ferris wheel built in 2008. It's elegant, eye-catching and really iconic.
As it is round, which reminds me of another icon in Ingress, ADA. So I designed a logo combining vitual ADA and real "Tientsin Eye" as our new local logo. Special thanks to Portuguese resistance agent @geep44, for her redrawn-ADA work.
3. Shikoku is the most rural mainland of Japan. In the olden days, 88 carefully selected temples were visited by famous monks to train their minds, and the journey around the temples has been rooted in the area as a pilgrimage since ancient times. Yashima temple is one of the pilgrimage sites, and all 88 temples are portals, and of course there are missions to visit 88 sites. There are only a few agents who have completed that mission, so please give it a try.
Story Bridge is a heritage listed bridge in my town, and whenever I see it , I know I'm home. It's an absolutely beautiful bridge and from the bridge, a lovely view of my cities skyline
3. This POI is a large complex that includes a hotel, apartments, retail, and office buildings. The architecture of the Watergate is beautiful, featuring oddly shaped buildings and outdoor plazas with great views overlooking the Potomac. They have a high quality dental office, and the lobby of the hotel has some of the comfiest chairs in the world. They even have people who stand at the doors of the hotel entrance and open the door for you.
It's also the site of one of the biggest political scandals in US history when Nixon's staff broke into the offices in 1972 to wiretap his opponents. This POI is representative of DC--the good and the bad.
3. I was born and spent school days in Nara. There are many many authentic temples, shrine, budda statues and deer as angel of God all over the huge park. Ukimi-do is built in the middle of a pond and is a great place to view cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and the moon. But it is a little-known spot where few tourists to come. So It was a place I remember skipping school to spend a day there many times. Nara is also as famous as Kyoto but not so many visitors, so I'd like a lot of agents to come.
Pune is known as Oxford of the East. SavitribaiPhule Pune University, formerly University of Pune has played a major role in the rich legacy of education in India. Proud and privileged to have been born in a city where people dream of building their career.
The campus of this University is huge, well-maintained and open for all, not just the students here.
Information:-The HAL HF-24 Marut ("Spirit of the Tempest") was an Indian fighter-bomber aircraft of the 1960s. Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is the first Indian-developed jet aircraft, and the first Asian jet fighter (outside Russia/Soviet Union) to go beyond the test phase and into successful production and active service
I would like to introduce the two portals that are the symbols of our city. Both are loved by the citizens of Sapporo and are representative tourist attractions.
2-1
"The Old Hokkaido Government Building" was built in 1888 and is an essential building for understanding the history of Hokkaido. It is a place of relaxation for the citizens of Sapporo.
2-2
"The Sapporo Clock Tower" is the oldest existing clock tower in Japan, and its bells still ring out daily. The preface of the Sapporo Citizen's Charter says, "We the citizens of Sapporo, where the chimes of the Clock Tower can be heard, declare", which has become a source of emotional support for Sapporo citizens.
I've been trying to think of a portal that best represents my city and first I thought of our church in the city center square, but there is a portal in our city that better tells the story of the city Enschede in the Netherlands. On 13 May 2000 a disaster happened in my city where a fireworks storage in the middle of the city caught fire and exploded. 25 people lost their lives, around a 1000 were injured and about 1900 buildings were either damaged or destroyed. This memorial has the names of all 25 people who lost their lives and is now situated in a park where once this fireworks storage stood. Next to the memorial is the original crater left by the first explosion that instigated a series of bigger explosions. The biggest explosion had a power of somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000kg TNT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enschede_fireworks_disaster and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IQYqyAkoOU
3. Anamorphosis, the name of the sculpture. More interesting is what it shows. You can see the history of the town, large cranes used for ship building and a windmill. The windmill hints to the proximity of UNESCO Kinderdijk Windmills.
When you look through the sculpture you see the Theater, or the modern shipyard where worlds most luxious yachts are build. So the monument reflexes on the past but also lets you see the present.
« Le Palais de l'Île » (or « Palais de l'Isle »), it's most iconic view.
Also called « Les Vieilles Prisons » (The Old Jails). It is situated on a little island upon the river Thiou, near the lake, in the pedestrian center called « La Vieille Ville » (old city). It's a really touristic place, in fact the whole location is touristic, with the lake, the mountains…
True story, my former brother in law is from a small town of Ohio, 🇺🇸 (the town is New Paris where there is a Lake France 😳). Before meeting then wedding my sister, in his workplace, there was a poster of “France” with a picture of this place.
The sculpture is located at the "Altonaer Balcony", a little park with a great view on the harbour. The Portal reminds me of my early days of Niantic AR. The little park was a great meeting point for the community, there were always a few players talking with each other and having fun enjoying the game. I used to be there a lot, even though I needed a long time to get to that park. Since those memories come up in me, I took it as the best representing Portal for my city, because the fisherman are a perfect symbol for the city of Hamburg. Hamburg has always been an important city for oversea trading. Its geografical location directly in the center of Germany with direct connection to the north sea quickly made it a central spot. The harbour is still one of the biggest in the world. The fishermen of the sculpture have a perfect view on the harbour.
From my hometown of St. Louis Missouri, USA it would have to be the oh-so-iconic Gateway Arch.
From the town I adopted it's a more difficult choice, but the city is filled with a rich collection of street art that reflects the diversity of cultures, the environment, the politics, and the people of Oakland. Some days it feels like a brand new incredible mural springs up every single day, and the city has literally had several blocks covered with incredible murals in the space of a few days. If I had to choose just one I would go with Love Letter Oakland in Oakland, California USA.
This monument commemorates the Great Trek of the Voortrekkers that left the Cape between 1835 and 1854. The monument contains the biggest marble frieze in the world, detailing the history of the Great Trek, but also incorporating references to every day life, work methods and religious beliefs of the Voortrekkers.
The first black president of South Africa, democratically elected following the abolishment of Apartheid. He has become a symbol of peace and unity in South Africa, and has received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 alongside Frederik Willem de Klerk. This statue stands 6m tall and was unveiled as a celebration of 10 years of democracy in South Africa.
3. Takamatsu has been known as the gateway to the ocean connecting mainisland and Shikoku island in Japan, and the Takamatsu port plays an important role as a transportation hub. The red lighthouse is installed at the port of Takamatsu, and as the world's first glass lighthouse, it is a symbol of the port that guides ships. Although built in the sea, you can walk to the Red Lighthouse and it is loved by anglers and jogging people.
3. This Park is the biggest park in my city and has the tallest Indian national flag . It has the war memorial also which is know as the Kargil war memorial. Tanks and Fighter plane outside the war memorial are great looking and let us remember the great story of our soldiers and there bravery.
The Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia, known simply as the Sagrada Familia, is a Catholic basilica in Barcelona (Spain), designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí. Begun in 1882, it is still under construction. It is Gaudí's masterpiece, and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain, and it is the most visited church in Europe after St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. A must for visitors to the city.
This is the must see point in Sofia. From a historical view I would have chosen a few portals about a kilometer from there - Sofia is one of the few places in the world where there are an orthodox church, a catholic church, a synagogue and a mosque (all more than a hundred years old) within a short walking distance of each other.
This is the Hollywood-like sign of Wellington which gives the nickname, Wellywood. The name comes from the film production business in the city established by Sir Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings. The letters on the sign are being blown away to represent our city being the windiest in the world with average wind speeds at 22 km/h and average wind gusts of 65 km/h. If you visit, you'll see it on your way out of the airport!
